Before writing his own manga he started out as an assistant to Shin Morimura. He debuted in 2000 with Planetes, which was adapted to a 26-episode anime. He is currently working on Vinland Saga which began serialization in Weekly Shounen Magazine, and later on continued serialization in Afternoon. He has won the 2009 Japan Media Arts Festival Grand Prize for Vinland Saga

I've only seen the anime for Planetes, but its easily one of the best SoL/Sci-Fi series ever and Vinland saga is just one of my favorite manga period (I love vikings). I'm really hoping it gets an anime adaption at some point.

Great job - I wish there was more interest in his works. :( (SO more new titles would come) I need more than just the Vinland saga - it's the only one of his that's in publishing, right? The Okita One Shot is really good!
