After reading Blame!, I can confidently say that you may now call me Mr. Confusion.

Blame! is an intriguing, strange, and intellectually stimulating manga that fully embodies the phrase “show, don’t tell.” With minimal dialogue and a heavy reliance on visual storytelling, it challenges the reader to actively interpret what's unfolding. It doesn’t hold your hand, it throws you headfirst into a sprawling dystopian world and leaves you to piece things together on your own.

The artwork is stunning, filled with hellish, surreal landscapes and oppressive, labyrinthine architecture. However, as beautiful as it is, it can also be incredibly confusing. During the more chaotic scenes, explosions, gunfights, ... character deaths, it’s often hard to decipher exactly what’s happening, or even who’s still alive. That said, the art improves noticeably as the series progresses, with increasingly refined character designs and more cohesive visual storytelling.

The narrative is far from generic. It’s unique, original, and deeply atmospheric. While the core story is understandable, it's not easy to follow, largely due to the sparse exposition and abstract pacing. The ending, too, feels intentionally ambiguous and may not provide the kind of closure some readers expect.

Where Blame! truly excels is in its worldbuilding. The scale of the world comprised of endless megastructures and claustrophobic architecture is both breathtaking and oppressive. It creates a haunting sense of isolation and inescapability.

Character development is modest, but effective. Among the cast, Cibo stands out as a compelling and trustworthy companion, highly competent and consistently engaging throughout the story.

Overall, I appreciate Blame! for its unique storytelling, imaginative world, and incredible visual design. It’s a bizarre, mesmerizing experience. However, it’s not an easy read, it’s complex and often perplexing.

Blame! Is without a doubt a very intriguing, Unique piece of art.

I doubt anybody could read it and not be intrigued by it's aesthetic and atmosphere. With that being said, I would not say this manga is for everyone by any means. The Story can be very hard to track at times, either with how difficult the sense of scale in this world is to capture in manga format, or by how in depth some of the dialogue the characters have can be.

In short, if you are a cyberpunk/goth/distopian-future/ fan you will most likely be attracted to the world and charactes presented in ... this story.

Blame is a manga that starts off confusingly but 20 chapters in it starts to explain a lot of the world in its own way. But after those 20 chapters they stop trying to explain themselves and instead just drag you on for a confusing ride.

The only thing that kept me from dropping blame is that I liked the art, the characters are not amazingly drawn but the action panels and two page spreads make it all look better.

Even though i enjoyed the art all the amazing panels cant make up for the fact that the story is incoherent and insane. Blame is the only ... series that i read that i had to look up a synopsis of the plot just so i could try and understand what i just read.

Overall i cant genuinely recommend Blame to anyone unless you want to have a terrible time
