This manga portrays the life of four (the group actually expands into a group of five or six, but I'll let you see for yourself when you read the later chapters of Kimi to Boku) boys who have been together since kindergarten. The chapters - or stories, if you prefer - switch back and forth, from their everyday lives in kindergarten, middle school, and mostly, high school. It's a manga about friendship, becoming young adults, and enjoying the much simpler things in life.
STORY: 7
I must admit, the whole plot didn't make me want to read the manga. It's not a plot that's exactly original, nor does it stand out from other manga titles, although is does have certain potential that many mangas do not have. From start to finish (or what we can get online or in stores) is filled with moments where you will most definitely laugh out loud, cry, and smile to yourself from all the heart-felt moments Kimi to Boku brings. Hotta Kiichi really knows how to incorperate comedy, drama, romance, and a slight touch of slice of life into this manga. I must add that there is a bit of an undertone of shounen-ai.
ART: 9
The art is what really drew me into Kimi to Boku, then sealed the deal. The simplicity of the art is amazing, and really captures the depth of all the characters' emotions and expressions without being too detailed. Every character has their own unique features and essence, which makes them quite easy to tell apart (unlike other mangas; I'm talking to you Minami Haruka). The art style is very different from other mangakas, which really matches the story of Kimi to Boku.
CHARACTER: 9
Every character is just too lovable. They're each their own person, and they have really distinct personalities. The characters are so well explained, it's as if you really do know them. You'd think that you know someone like them in real life! The character developement is really well done, too. It's like everyone's in the manga for a reason (other than for enjoyment), but for a sentimental meaning.
ENJOYMENT: 10
I thoroughly enjoyed Kimi to Boku from start to finish. It's a must read for everyone; boy or girl. It's not a shoujo manga, but it's not exactly a shounen manga - it's sort of in between, and is practically for everyone (unless you're a stingy hermit crab).

Remove Haruhi and Mori, remove the extreme rich school setting and make them all "commoners" and you´ll have Kimi to Boku. Just imagine Ouran without the boys being hosts but instead, Childhood friends, and with a more slow pacing. Replace Ouran´s comedy with slice of life. You´ll get a cheerful mixed blood blonde, a serious intelligent megane, funny twins, and a fluffy boy that likes cute things living their daily lives in extreme fun.
Also, although both center in friendship, both have a love triangle.
Not only do the characters have similar personality aspects, (The twins Yuuki and Yuuta have the same teasing and hilarious qualities as hikaru and kaoru, kaname is like a combination kyouya and tamaki etc.) they have some of the same key points or genres like friendship and most predominately comedy! If you like the comedy in one then you'll like the comedy in the other.
