I think most people were expecting more bloody action and some got a little disapointed at that. Nonetheless everyone was already connected to the characters, and that made it good, at least, for me. (plus I absolutly loved the humor and Hanyuu~ <3) |

| The first, definately. I enjoyed the loli psychopaths. The second one was good too. Character development, explanations, etc etc. But the whole perfect world that went from around episode 14-24 just had too many "ok this is stupid" moments for me. |
| Kai, hands down. Chara development, MUCH better art, better pacing, etc. Not to say the first season was bad in any way, it was great too. |
| The first season, I love the Mion/Shion arc and twist - it's one of the best I have seen. I also loved the story development of Rena's past, some truth about Keiichi, and Satoko! The second season doesn't have enough Keiichi for me, either, however, I also have no complaints about the second season - I absolutely love it, too and just consider them one big story. |

Many people sadly prefer the Kai season mostly because of the moe art+better animation+less blood+one more Furude loli. :-| I don't even need to say that both are amazing and equally important, but the Kai series had some little things I didn't really like, and some of them disappointed me a bit. Just to mention a few, not enough violence, not enough Rena, not enough Keiichi. Plus, I dislike Hanyuu. |

| I like both, but Kai made it one of my favorite animes. I didn't watch for the bloodshed, but for the story. ^^ |

| Though i'm a huge fan of psychological horror and so called mindfu*k (which Higurashi represents really well), I enjoyed more the "Kai" season, which is rather a drama. I can explain it in that way- "Kai" awoke and developed in me more extreme feelings, I got totally involved into characters' fight with destiny and i supported them with all my heart. Every fail hurt and even the smallest victory pleased. I was really glad that they did it in the end. |

| For me, there is no "better season", because I regard them as one. I would never even consider watching one season seperately from the other. I enjoy them as a whole. |

| i definately prefered the first season, it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time, making me think wtf is going to happen next. higurashi kai WAS brilliant, but not as good as the first season, and the last few episodes of higurashi kai were pretty stupid. |
| To be fair, Deen did animate two Kai arcs in the first season for... well, I have no idea why. So Meakashi-hen and Tsumihoroboshi-hen should've been in the second season, not the first. For that reason, I can't really say which one I like better since the anime pretty much screwed it all up. |

Like in a psychotic delusion. So yep, first season wins. Kai = nice adventure + great art; but there's something missing. | Of course first Higurashi was better. The series was really psychodelic and in few moments it scaried me out. One of my favourites anime. Kai wasn't as good as first season, because there wasn't anything new... only answers for questions from 1st Higurashi. Anyway, it was good continuation without suprises. btw. Rei was sooo stupid ;) |

| I think "Higurashi..." can't be devided into two parts. So I can't say which was best, 'cos both these seasons are just united in one story. |
