| What an amazing episode. I honestly knew about that whole Nina thing if that makes any sense, I didn't think it would be that horrific until I saw the episode itself. Shou really was that much of a monster just to transmutate his own wife and daughter just because he cared more about his title. Scar looks promising as a character and I'm intrigued whether he'll meet the Elric brothers,odds are considering he's a big deal to the military he'll probably encounter them anyway. Again really amazing just keep it up, keep it up. |

| THE "wtf" episode of the whole series. This one really sets the stage that this show isn't just fun and games, and we're only 4 episodes in. |

| I uh... just finished this episode and I have only one thing to say: fuck. |
| Since 2010, I've watched this scene maybe more times than three, counting the FMA version first, and as expected it broke me once more. An iconic yet incredibly depressing scene. I think I quickly realized the first time upon watching it, but after watching this scene a third time 12 years later, I have no doubt it's harder to watch than the first time. I haven't sobbed that hard in a while. Clannad After Story particularly, and a few other Key animations remain the saddest in making me sob hard, but I forgot how Nina turning into a chimera is up there as well as one of the most saddest scenes in anime. I was already crying the moment Ed opens the door to Shou Tucker with Nina transformed, but worse is at any moment that Nina speaks, it hurts like hell. Especially when she sees her Daddy getting hurt by Edward. I probably could have continued crying after she was killed by Scar, but I think after pausing to get kleenex to clean myself, I was out of it to cry more. Truly, an all-time incredible scene, as well as performance from each English actor. Poor Nina and her dog Alexander... May she Rest in Peace. Sick that her father transmuted his wife 2 years ago, and now his daughter out of poverty to remain certified as a state alchemist. F*ck... |
| I intentionally avoided any spoilers of this anime before I started watching it. I could never have seen what was coming in this episode. The change in atmosphere from episodes 1-3 to 4 is crazy. Truly a moment in anime that I will never forget is the "talking Chimera" |
