I watched some of FMA a looooong time ago (aka dont remember much of it), and I dont think I read the manga. I thought the pacing for this episode was nicely done. :o

Rushed as heck. No wonder I remember the impact being much less than the original.

I find this episode really disturbing and very sad indeed. how come a father could use his daughter (and even his wife) for his experiment? geez

finished the manga years ago and finally decided to pick up this adaptation.

The one thing I didn't like in this so far is the added comedy. So far I see it as misplaced and kind of distracting, really.

Otherwise it's great.

This episode is so sad, even after rewatching this, it doesn't charge that.

Technically because FMA came out before FMA:B, that would make it the original lol (even though it didn't follow the manga in regards to Shou Tucker).

thank GOD there wasn't a short joke in this episode (or at least not like a 100 of them), I was getting ready to jump out the window

I liked this episode more than the previous episodes and I'm glad to see that characters in this show actually die, even if they're cute

still not seeing how this is #1 but it might get better so I'm going to keep watching

Shou Tucker, an indecent person. He can be a biological alchemist, but his actions are horrible. I don't say I'm happy for his death, but he should retrace his last experience and save his daughter, and after that he could be reflect for what he did during is all life... ;C

Definitely a wonderful episode. What irks me is how the Life-Sewing Alchemist passed his examination. He should have been inquired about what he gave in exchange of his experiments. That should not have been easy to cover up without leaving suspicion.

R.I.P Nina and Alexander </3 At least their death was not indiscriminate.

Really forcing myself to watch this. I watched FMA years ago and remember it being pretty good, but so far this brotherhood version is really boring. Maybe I watched too many good anime since. The "comedy" moments also make me cringe so hard, they're really not funny. Can't believe the top rated anime on this site feels like such a pain to watch.

Wow,thats fucked up. State Alchemists will go any length to get their job done on time huh.Poor Nina didn't deserve it.I actually felt crept out when Tucker started mentioning the similarities between him and the Elric brothers.

That guy who is after the State Alchemists actually did a good job at the end from a morality perspective. It was better for Nina to die than live a miserable life like that.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. 5/5

Here the differences with the number of FMA are even more pronounced, an entire chapter is liquidated in a few seconds into the narrative, in truth I preferred the epilogue seen FMA for some regard the death of Nina, was much more dramatic. Drawings not a bad quality, but I remain convinced that the design style of the first is much better. The end of Bask Gram is faster but the narrative is much more emphasized in the aspect of the fight, but in the first series here too the scene was much more dramatic.

Original FMA executed this part much better, pacing is abit off. Don't know why, but still a very good episode to calm me down after such a stressful day...

This episode was so depressing. Poor Nina, it was so sad to see her as a chimera. I think that was one of the most terrific things which could happen to her, especially when Tucker said that he wants to play with her and Alexander the day before.

When I decided to start watching FMA Brotherhood I debated whether to watch this episode or not. In FMA, Night of the Chimera's Cry was my least favorite because of what happened to Nina. It made me cry. (Yeah I'm a sap, I know) But it was interesting to see how Brotherhood differed from FMA here. And I was very pleased to see Tucker's punk ass meet his fate a lot sooner than later...Guess I'll keep watching :)

Worse than the original. Ed and Al spent more time with Nina so it felt more terrible. And Nina's blood on the wall is definitely more impressive than on the floor.

Still this version is visually more beautiful, and they kill that damn Tucker just like that, wow, how the original let the wretched man live through 51 episodes.

I like how they embedded comedy in this otherwise really sad episode but as it has been said several times already: It was just too much for one episode. There was not enough time to emotionally attach to Nina and the dog. (Their death/fusion nearly brought me to tears nevertheless.)
What's really bothering me is: WHATS WRONG WITH THEIR LEGAL SYSTEM??!!
Murder -obviously- is illegal but if a guy basically KILLS his own daughter by merging her with his dog that is no problem??? That's really fucking me off right now. Can't blame the scar-guy for running amok.

Okay so ngl with all those dog memes flying about the internet I predicted what was gonna happen...what I didn't expect though, was it all happening so brutally in the space of one episode. The way Nina was just blinked out existence like that was pretty sad...although I can't say I blame Scar for his choice.

Anyways, I am rewatching what I consider to be one of the best works of fiction in history and... you know, this episode is to me the episode that defines the show. That Fullmetal Alchemist was going to be a dark show was obvious from episode one, but this is one a whole different level. It is not just because Nina was just a kid and Alexander was just a dog. It is everything. It is so good and at the same time, so sad.

This IS the original. This is how it was in the manga, after all. The "original" you speak of is just a filler show.

Been watching FMA which I do enjoy but the pacing is a bit slow for me. So I come back to Brotherhood and I found this episode more impactful even thought they only used one episode on it. What I didn't like in FMA1 was that they made it seem like Scar killing Nina/Alexander was some evil act, rather than what it was shown in this episode as an act of compassion.

God, just as sad as the 2003 version.
At least Nina passed away in a more peaceful manner rather than getting splatted all over a wall.

Kinda surprised Tucker died, at least I think they killed him off.

Definitely one of the darkest scenes and saddest scenes (both 2003 and FMAB) that I've seen in anime :/

I feel like anyone who hasn't watched the original Fullmetal Alchemist won't feel the same pain when Nina gets turned into a chimera, she and Alexander barely got any screen time.

It did make me really sad having to watch it again, though, and when Scar killed Tucker and she started crying I was really sad.

for the spoilers I knew it would happen, but I did not expect it to happen in chapter 4.
:'/
How sad it is to know that there are many people like that, they do not mind going over the lives of others to get what they want.
The question isn't "What anime do you like?" That is merely a list.
The question is "Why do you like it?" That tells a story. Your story.
