| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- My general impression was that that was a bad episode. Revy's character was too different, definitely too nice, they went to a festival (wtf?) and just generally it was too much of a departure from the tried and true Black Lagoon formula. Lack of Dutch is definitely a bad thing. Despite all that moaning, I did still enjoy it... ish, and this Yakuza story seems interesting enough. It just seems somewhat fillery. |

| Isn't this like the first episode that Revy blushes that wasn't because of being drunk? Meh, I still think Rock's the main character though. Or else they wouldn't show him trying to go to his family or the dialogue with him and that girl. Wish Rock could get more badass moments though. I really expected something from episode 6 but nothing happened as that Sawyer chick lost her voice thingy. ): |

They speak Japanese/Russian in an ordinary episode. So they go to Japan. And can't speak Japanese. They speak Japanese/Russian. So Rock translates Japanese into Japanese/Russian. While everyone else speaks english.... okay... |

Rather than using subtitles they replaced the English with Japanese for the Japanese audience. They used English in Japan so we know they are using English. Rock was actually translating English to Japanese. I personally think they should always use the right language at anytime. Makes more sense. |

| If I remember correctly, it's assumed that the crew speaks English (as it is the international language of business). The show is in Japanese for the most part to make it more accessible to the intended audience (native Japanese speakers). When they actually go to Japan, they have to show that majority of the of the crew does not speak Japanese, hence the lovely Engrish. ^^ |

| For the record, all this makes much more sense in English. Though, oddly enough, most of the japanese characters still speak english...well. I personally think all the japanese characters should have spoke there language. |

| Oh god the engrish was golden.. Apart from that seems like a bit of a fillerish episode setting foundation for that guy with the tattoos on his back. I bet he'll be quite an adversary sometime down the road.. |

| This episode just shows that Revy isn't a one-dimensional character, which is good because I never liker her character that much. Anyway I think I will greatly enjoy this arc. The setup was perfect, new cool characters, tension's in the air, it's all there! This season already surpassed the first one in my eyes. |

| Revy with proper clothing on looks surprisingly cute. She actually cares enough for Rock that she wants him to stay at home instead of going to Roanapur and that life. And I thought the engris was pretty funny. |

| I thought she looked cute as well with the beanie on lol. I really enjoyed the bit with Revy playing with the kids. I definitely had a hard time understanding their Engrish also. x3 It'd be nice to hear them speak more Russian but that might be asking a lot of the voice actors. xD I also saw the Hawaiian shirt. I wouldn't wear it either. xD I've actually been quite impressed with Rock. I'm getting tired of whiney and wimpy main characters in anime. o_o He seems pretty resourceful and very useful to the Lagoon Company. |

| Benny having Jane's pic on his computer!!! guess they're official now :) lol the engrish was good :D Rock is translating Japanese to English as evidence to Balalaika. and when Rock is talking to he's members, they're speaking in japanese. also Balalaika speaking in russian is amazing :P that fact that she still manage to bomb that place means she has alot of power and influence. wow Revy in normal japanese winter clothes!!!! she looks good, especially with a beanie :D also Toyoguchi, Megumi english curse words is awesome "whaat da fuck, bullshit" "wha are ya lafing at asswhole" still very surprising the first english words Revy says are curse words XD and how she act with those kids at the part was ace. they're english was okay, nothing bad you just need to repeat it :P lol don't tell it to Benny and Dutch :P im also surprise Revy seems more softer and a little jealous of Nuki girl by hanging out with Rock ^^ mastersadon said: Im not sure if this was shown in an earlier episode. | Well, at least they kept the same the voice-actors for the individual characters in the original Japanese version. In the English dub, the mob boss has the same Japanese voice at the meeting with Hotel Moscow as in the original version, but when he is talking to Ginji, the audio switches to a different, English-American voice. Well, I guess it both has its flaws: either terrible Engrish or two different voices for one character. |

The English dub for this had to take a lot of liberties, it must have been such a pain to work around but they did it quite well in my view. A couple of things I noticed in this episode: Is that Sawyer outside Rock sees at the beginning of this episode? Enemies one day, neutral the next lol The line Revy says to Ginji about having "the smell of blood, we're both the same." wasn't that the exact same thing the "vampire girl" said to Revy? I guess Revy likes to reuse quotes she has heard from others. |
