http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-11-09/non-non-biyori-producer/year-end-announcement-might-be-made

Kadoakwa producer Shinobu Yoshinuma teased in an interview with the Mainchi Shimbun paper's Mantan Web site that he might be able to make an announcement regarding the anime and manga series Non Non Biyori at the end of the year. Kadokawa publishes Atto's schoolgirl manga in its Monthly Comic Alive magazine.

An anime series inspired by the manga premiered on October 7. Crunchyroll is streaming the television anime, and Sentai Filmworks licensed it for North America. An original anime DVD has also been green-lit.

Thanks to the popularity of the television anime, the six volumes of the manga are getting large reprint runs that will arrive in stores in Japan this month.

Movie would make little sense so probably second season.

Well it isn't best series around but having more of this kind is always welcome (while waiting for more of Tamayura or that some awesome mind will decide to make anime from Amanchu!).

One good omen that points to the possibility of a second season of Non Non Biyori is that Yoshida Reiko is handling the script and series composition. Several series that she had previously worked on saw multiple seasons: Aria, K-On!, Tamayura for instance, and Girls und Panzer which will see a movie in 2014. That's a pretty good resume'!

Seems a bit too early to announce a second season but if the reprint of manga is really going very well, it is possible that they will make a decision this early.
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

It heals me every week :D At this rate, this is going to be one of my top SoL animes alongside Aria and Tamayura.

Hi AlphaDelta. You are most welcome.

They have also just released a photo of all of the main voice actresses:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bbr0pg2CUAIBVfo.jpg

FRONT ROW FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:
小岩井ことり(宮内れんげ役) Renge-chon
村川梨衣(一条蛍役) Hotarun
佐倉綾音(越谷夏海役) Nattsun
阿澄佳奈(越谷小鞠役) Koma-chan

BACK ROW FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:
佐藤利奈(加賀山楓役) The lady who runs the candy store
川面真也監督 The director
名塚佳織(宮内一穂役) The teacher

They have also revealed that the voice performer for the brother is "???さん".
So I guess it is possible that we will hear him say something eventually. As
well, there is one place where they say that the total number of cast members
is "7", but then add "(8?)". So clearly they are having some fun with this.

- - - - - - -

Today a lengthy magazine article in Japanese appeared in "Animate TV
News". They interviewed all of the cast members. They even "interviewed"
the voice performer for the older brother, but all that he ever said in reply
was "..." Here is the link to the first of the four pages of the article:
http://www.animate.tv/news/details.php?id=1387271866

On page four of that article, you may be interested to know that there is
going to be a special event in Tokyo on Sunday, April 6th. It is called the
"Nyanpasu Festival Nanon♪". Four of the voice actresses will be there.
Tickets cost 6500 Yen. The hall that they have booked has a capacity of
1100 people.

Thanks for asking about that. It turns out that it is simply a message from all of the
voice actresses. It is all in Japanese. It is fairly lengthy:
http://nonnontv.com/special/report02.html
So far I just skimmed it, and I did not check carefully to see if there is anything of
great interest in there.

Apparently, the same group interview with the cast members was published in
Animate.TV back on December 17th:
http://www.animate.tv/news/details.php?id=1387271866

And here too:
http://anifav.com/topics/20131223_2652.html

I have also been paying attention to their official Twitter account to see if they are
announcing anything. Right now, their big news item is that Volume 1 of the
Blu-ray/DVD goes on sale on December 25th. It contains Episodes 1 and 2.

Oh, and Renge managed to get her face on the cover of the anime-related
magazine "Comic Alive" (コミックアライブ) in Japan which comes out on
December 27th:
http://twitpic.com/dppxp2

Sorry . . . no talk of a second season.

I share your sense of discouragement. However, it might be too early to completely
give up hope that some kind of significant announcement will be made.

First of all, that interview from a few months ago said that an announcement might
be made "at the end of the year" ( 年末 / nenmatsu ). Right now it is still only
December 25th, so there is lots of time before 年末.

Secondly, they have published that interview with all of the voice performers. It is
lengthy. I have taken a quick look, but I didn't go through it sentence-by-sentence.
Perhaps there is something very interesting in it.

In the meantime, their official Twitter account is sending out lots of interesting
information which may or may not excite you:

- They have Non Non Biyori stuff for sale in the Animate store in Shinjuku, Tokyo:
https://twitter.com/mf_eizou/status/415873475903901696/photo/1

- They have Non Non Biyori stuff for sale in the Animate store in Akihabara:
https://twitter.com/mf_eizou/status/415874126335578112/photo/1

- They have Non Non Biyori stuff for sale in the Gamers store in Sannomiya:
https://twitter.com/mf_eizou/status/415874787013971968/photo/1

So, in summary, I think that there are many reasons for Non Non Biyori fans to
feel excited.

I found out some stuff that may be of interest to you.

First of all, many of you already know about the "upcoming OVA". This was a
news item that came out some time ago, and MAL has a news thread on the topic.
It was posted by Symbv on October 28th. See here:
http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=682713

In Japan, they call it an "OAD" (not an "OVA"). This stands for "Original Anime
Disk" (オリジナル・アニメー・ディスク). So if you want to search for recent details
about it, you should Google "のんのんびより OAD". Apparently, when they say
"OAD" it specifically means, "an OVA disk which is bundled with a manga
volume". But if you try to Google "のんのんびより OVA" you will find basically
nothing.

This "OAD" is going to go on sale on July 23rd, 2014. It is going to be bundled
together with Volume 7 of the manga. It will cost 3333 yen, tax included.
ISBN: 978-4-04-066272-5 softcover
The source of my information is here: http://www.nonnontv.com/goods/

Comiket is starting on Sunday, of course. Yesterday, the official Non Non Biyori
tweet showed a photograph of posters decorating the walls in the exhibition hall
there: https://twitter.com/nonnontv/status/416462092124700672/photo/1
So you can see the huge poster at the bottom left. It is advertising the OAD.
Too bad it is so blurry.

Apparently, they will start taking pre-orders for the OAD on Monday, March 24th,
2014.

I have a question, though. This is not being marketed as an ordinary Blu-ray or
DVD. Therefore, it will presumably not show up in Amazon Stalker along with
other pre-orders for upcoming anime Blu-rays and DVDs. So, how can we follow
the progress of the pre-orders for the OAD?

Also, does anybody here think that it is an intentional business decision for them
to continue to produce the anime in the form of an "OAD" rather than a second
season or a conventional OVA? Could this be the desire of the manga artist?

There is one more thing that I wonder about. When you buy the manga
volume, does it come bundled with the Blu-ray or the DVD? Above, they only
specify a single ISBN. Therefore, there is only one option which can be ordered.

I did find one source (Wikipedia) that said that "OAD" actually stands for
"original anime DVD". Another source said that "OAD" could stand for
either "original anime disk" or "original anime DVD". And "original animation
disk" (オリジナル・アニメーション・ディスク) has also been used.

So possibly we will see an old-fashioned DVD come bundled with Volume 7 of the
manga, but the Blu-ray will not be an option.
