| Allison to Lillia, the characters grow and become smarter/more established. Though, that may be part of the reason that it went downhill... Itazura na Kiss entails much aging... physically at least... Honey and Clover yields a lot of mental improvement, in terms of maturity of the characters. Clannad, though coveted with unhelpful side-arcs, also has a lot of growth of the characters in the main story arc. Exploring that moment when you first get out on your own and start supporting yourself. (If you like this theme, Whisper of the Heart may be more up your alley) A more dramatic depiction of this theme is KGNE. And, well, there's a ton of other anime that I love for this kind of thing, and would recommend if it didn't involve listing dozens of series. 5cm/s involves tons of growth borth physically and in terms of the way life unfolds. Not to much concentration on mental growth, but it does explore the depths of the effects of time and distance on the mind. Gantz might be more up your alley, the main character grows mentally, and it makes him stronger. You may like the manga better, though. I have the feeling that these kinds of things aren't really what you're looking for, though. Edit: I seem to like allies today. |

| Legend of the Galactic Heroes. It spans like years or something, so the main characters all grow up and develop. I've heard it's the best character development like ever (I only just started it). |

| It's kind of disturbing that no one suggests Dragon Ball. It's one of the most popular anime in which we see Goku and Kuririn age from when they were about 10 years old, to adults with children and grandchildren of their own. |
