I would like everyone to approach this thread as if you were going to write a review and structure your initial post like this: Animation - insert rating Sound - insert rating Characters - insert rating Story - insert rating Enjoyment - insert rating Animation - discuss any pros and cons of the animation styling used in the series, try to include some specifics. Sound - describe any of the things you liked or didn't care for in regards to the music and sound effects used in the series etc... If you are having trouble writing up a review or coming up with specific pros and cons, please don't worry. Just do the best you can with it and if you can only write two or three sentences about any of the 5 elements then that's OK. Not everyone here is currently at a level which will allow them to articulate their thoughts and opinions. After your initial post is made you can feel free to civilly discuss issues of contention. I am sure there will be many opinions expressed here that some of us will disagree upon and criticise and it is for that reason that this entire club exists. | City Hunter is a pretty charming action comedy with some (serious) flaws. The comedy is hit and miss with a slapstick style. So when you get tired of a joke, be prepared to see it another 50 times. Kaori hitting Ryo with a hammer was never funny to me, but Ryo trying to get close to a mokkori lady was the exact opposite. The same formula is used almost every episode. A pretty lady or somebody who knows a pretty lady askes for help, we get some comedy at Ryo's expense and the bad guy is done for as soon as our City Hunter grabs his gun. But I don't want to only point out the flaws in this series, seeing as I still enjoyed this. The earlier episodes were a bit darker with an occasional death (which they tried to do again in the end but not as well) which made for a better contrast between Ryo's goofy side and his badass side. I also remember some great episodes which really stood out like the one with the black flower, the model looking for her father or the showdown between Ryo and a professional killer. In conclusion, City Hunter is a pretty good show with some ups and downs and a huge amount of cheesy moments. From what I've seen from the 80's, it's not on par with Logh or Dragonball, but still very good for the times it was made in. Not really induction worthy, but I can't bring myself to give it a solid no, so I'll abstain. I would also appreciate some criticism as this is the first thing I've ever written like this on this site. |

| This is good anime, entertaining to watch and everything, but some things about it made me pluck my hair out of frustration, like lack of variety in the plot (what i precisely want to say is that some episodes were practicly the same but with differen temptress that lured Ryo into some kind of mess) and overusage of the same jokes. |
