Option 1.

Paranoia Agent is enlightening. With each episode, it blurs the bar between delusion and reality, carefully mixing the two until it bursts into a homogenous mess. The main story itself is handled well, showing how Sagi's inner turmoil boils and builds and how the news of the Shounen Bat spreads and gains a life of its own. The use of gossip and media is effective, and works really well. Even the ending was well done, even though it was messy. The messiness was organic to the paranoia and nightmare-ish state of mind of the story.

Option 1

Paranoia Agent is genuinely creepy because it takes place partially in the characters' minds but also shows the impact the events are having on the mass media and how each character's story is loosely connected to the others. It shows how one person's problems can affect others; anyone could find themselves in the kinds of situations featured in the show. That would have been scary enough, but it also adds in the element of Lil' Slugger/Shounen Bat to show

I may not have had to put that in spoiler tags, but better safe than sorry.

A great psychological study of modern society, individual problems and stress that go with it. It's been a couple of years since I've watched it, but aside from the somewhat unsatisfying ending, or more, the way how things got concluded, not the outcome, it is enlightenment worthy.

Option 1

The show does mystery/psychological different from the norm like death note, and offers a unique horror-esque style of story telling with lil' sluggers assault on random people, and as the episodes go on the story itself becomes larger then what it was like when it began and you get to see the destruction of the characters. I think all of satoshi kon's works should be in the enlightnement list.

Paranoia Agent is a good anime, it is one of the series that helped cause me to become the anime fan that I am today. At the same time however, I do not believe that it is Kon's best work. The first episodes are the best but then it gets more normal as it goes on. Shame really because Kon could have made the series far more complicated than it was in the first episodes. So I am voting for 2.

Similar to Kon's earlier work, Perfect Blue, Paranoia Agent delves into the world of delusion and excessive stress. While being the weaker of the two works, I believe it is still enlightenment worthy since the story was mostly fluid and well handled but more importantly the use of modern communication, media and gossip to connect the individual stories and issues was exceptional. Also Paranoia Agent provides a useful counterpoint to most shows with its underlying message that escapism just causes more problems for everyone involved.

Paranoia agent is the type of anime, that should be watched more than once. The themes running through the storyline are intense and require the watcher to think seriously about the philosophies presented in this dementiaesque story. I would imagine that many people could find the violence/animation very shocking.. however i feel that this is a fundamental part in the finesse of this anime.Even some may disregard this anime due to its complex nature. If you apprciate well written,will-make-you-scratch-your-head-anime, this is one of the top. Think Phantom Boogie-pop, that kinda genius.

Everything is already said,no its not a flawless show,it had its bad moments like RPG ep and ending was also a bit silly but its still a very good show and in my opinion PA does a better job than PAPRIKA when it comes to mixing dream and reality.Very good focus on sociaty and overall 3rd best work by Kon for me.

I'm on like episode 7 now. I'll try to finish in time but I have work from 7-3 tomorrow so it's unlikely I will.

Looks like it's going to make it onto the list anyway though so all is well (I was going to vote option 1 either way. I haven't seen it start to finish but I've seen enough bits and pieces to remember it being fantastic.)
