THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

The type of episode I never like. Why do writers like to forgo telling flashbacks in an easy to follow manner with questionably innovative storytelling techniques that are just hard to follow and baffling, half the time couldnt tell what was even going on with some abstract imagery of sorts and ultimately, it feels as if some things were never addressed. Kodai looks younger in the present than as a teen and much better in present then back then, which seemed odd. But what wasnt addressed was how the enemy got on the Yamato?

Preview for 15 looks epic.

Looks to me like the ghost has found a human host in Misaki. I wonder what her agenda is. She definitely helped Mori to fend off the psychic attack.

Having not watched the original, I was confused for a bit when I first saw this episode.

Am I safe to assume that the things the 'hunter/wolf' was deploying were some kind of smoke that would allow the 'witch' to cause hallucinations' within the crew members? If that is the case, the act of killing and defeating the hallucination must've sent the feedback to the witch and killed her. This episode really reminds me of Evangelion with the way it was handled.

I'm also on-board with the fact the ghost found a host in the already-semi-psychic Misaki. Judging by the trailer, she'll be staying there for a while.

Actually there is no such story in the original...at least not in the first season (the voyage to Iscandar and back to Earth)...

+1

For me it was a great episode with strange narration and visions.

The enemy never got physically on Yamato.

See sent her own "self" as a astral projection to Yamato to interfere with the crew in their minds rather than physically.

No, the "ghost" was killed when Kodai started the engine again. The Astral projection was ripped apart and the body in the Gallian ship died at the same time.

To me it seems that Misaki have something to do with the central computer of Yamato. And it may seem that maybe even Yuki have something to do with it.

The dimensional submarine ship seeded an area of space where the Vixens could astrally ambush the Star Force. The Vixens mention how it was fortunate that Domel brought the UX01. It was all part of a multi strategic plan.

There seems to be 2 entities on the ship, both of them are Queen Starsha's sisters. I believe one's essence is within the wave motion core (the one who died on mars), the other is definitely in a stasis pod in the auto navigation section.

In episode 3, their 1st warp didn't go as planned and aborted abruptly. The navigation aborted the jump and the XO said "An unknown obstacle was detected in our path. It may have been an attempt to avoid it"

It was the Princess in her pod placed in the auto navigation room.

In the hospital scene the Princess looks right at the witch and the witch becomes frightened. "What are you doing here?" The Princess has awakened inside Yuria's body. She sees herself from outside her pod through Yuria's eyes. The Princess at 1st is unware that she is in another body, but she quickly figures it all out. "This is...." she says to herself.

The Princess knows where the ship is warping, knows who is waiting, and she knows how to shut down the engine. She's probably brilliant. "They're waiting for you there. They're waiting for this ship"

In the end Kodai pulls Yuki out of the wave motion core room, but falls to his knees outside the door with Yuki in 1 arm, and gun in the other. He is finished

The Princess, in Yuria's body, seizing the opportunity that Kodai and Yuki have exited the wave motion core room, activates the wave motion engine from the console at the right moment. She kills the "witch" saving everyone.. probably for the 2nd, or 3rd time.

Then she goes to leave the body, returning to her dream state. "Farewell, me. Hello, you. Misaki. Yuria Misaki"

Probably the true unsung hero,
the spirit of the Yamato.

any sense of what was happening. But at the end it all made sense, sometimes episodes such as thesec ARE needed. But It kind of gave me a seizure :V

just what the hell are they doing ahaha... i found it cool but i'm already thinking of this yamato as a story based on the first yamato.
still not sure where they want to go with these differences (i.e. this "ghost" in the central computer?? why?)
i don't know. as if the yamato don't have enough problems already; dealing with the super limited time (they don't talk about it!!), fighting bad guys because of "strange" reasons....... they had to add something weird about the girls too...

They mention the amount of time they have left at the end of each and every episode. Also, they are fighting the 'bad guys' - also known as Gamilans - because the Gamilan's are trying to stop them from healing their planet, which is being terraformed by none-other than the Gamilans.

There's not much you can be missing.

I don't think I'm missing anything! haha

but hey, maybe I expressed myself poorly.
I know they mention how much time is left in the end of every episode! in the first series it was like that too (not only in the first season but I guess in the third season too).

I was just comparing how much they mention this during the episode - it seems that in this "adaptation" they almost don't mention their 'deadline', while in the first season the characters talked more about it, if I'm not mistaken.

hehe I also know the name of the bad guys, I called them... "bad guys" because, in my opinion, that's how the crew (the humans in general) treat them, as bad guys. they still are not sure of what really happened but are only sure of one thing: the aliens are bad; while, in fact, things are not permanent like that. i hope they explain in the end the real motives of both sides.

well that's it. I still think that this series is only based on the first story, especially now with these strange things they've added, for example, in this episode 14.

Without battles the bet should lose interest and instead the new opponent and tough and intriguing, unfortunately this arc lasts only one episode, and the thing I'm sorry. I hope there is more space in the future to speak of the witch, the story I have to admit it can not dessere too light, but the events narrated shed new luge in the past of the protagonists. I also think that the ship we know some clandestine more. This thing intrigues me, as most people see in each episode of the cast involved in the plot, a trait that I admire in this series. There is not a protagonist!

Another really good episode. Now the Garmillians used some hardcore psychological warfare against the Yamaro, but were not counting on the presence of one of the Iscandrians that lives as a ghost of sorts in the Nav Room. And how that ghost has a partial connection to Yuria Misaki.

This episode had some Evangelion like flashbacks and moments (when Kodai answers the phone, his face is shaped like Rei Ayanami's in a similar scene). Wouldn't be surprised if old Gainaxer did this storyboard.

Kodai and Yuki are getting closer as the series goes on.

I think they sort of made fun of the original with Yuki wanting to pilot, when in the original she actually did pilot stuff (in addition to being a nurse and radar operator, lol).

That's because Yamato 2199 is from the same director of RahXephon. This episode had a lot of references to Rah, like the blue bird, the phone scenes, the mindfuckery, Kodai and Yuki played similar roles to Ayato and Quon from Rah.

I agree, and what was the goal of the attack? Removing the engine core making them unable to move? But once she removed it she was told to put it back in. The ship was defenseless for quite a while before Yuki and Kodai returned, yet it wasn't attacked.

These type of episodes are more annoying than anything good. The fact that they could see the other one in their hallucinations doesn't make any sense either.

How did the sub catch up to them? Why isn't Analyzer working and why didn't they try to "fix" it? How exactly did that chick's astral image make it inside their ship? Why didn't she just kill the crew/make the ship self-destruct? Why the hell is she acting like a psychopath? Why are they all in the engine room? Why are they translucent? Where's the rest of the crew? Why is Kodai conveniently the only one who snapped out of his hallucinations?

It's ok though because when a show pulls something like this and leaves stuff unanswered it's considered smart and a mindfuck which = great -_-

This series is merely alright for me so far, I don't connect at all with the cast or even mankind for that matter and the way the events succeed each other in the narrative feels weird. Welp at least the occasional ass shots are nice.

Because normal flashbacks are boring as fuck and pretty bad most of them time. This was well done, made sense in the end and kept the viewer's attention up.

Wow! I adored how the anime series also leads to esotericism, thus giving a new connotation to it. The atmosphere was the right one, I'm just sorry that the enemy had to die on that occasion, the figure of the ghost is another topic that I tease a lot and it still does the moment I'm reviewing the anime series.

They were about to warp somewhere before Yuki removed the core. Pretty sure the plan was to jump the ship to a waiting fleet and destroy or even capture the defenseless Yamato since the crew are all unconscious.
