I got the new theory-------------->Imagine breakers will be the weapons tht negate all forms of attack and thus it will allow the magicians or those that aren't affected by these breakers to strike those whose powers are absorbed by Imagine breaker users. THUS ultimately rendering the enemy useless and easy to dispose off. Especially if healing is being negated.
Oops! I appear to be incapable of following Rules 16 and 17, so I had to have a mod change my sig for me.

This episode, and especially the fight, were disappointing.

So lemme get this straigh, there are now:

Magicians vs Espers vs Vampires vs Alchemists vs whoever Touma is. Good grief... I hope they can pull it off.

Guh, so confusing. I hope the animators can keep this all straight, because it's getting harder and harder to understand who's on whose side. Well, I can safely say this show will not be 13 episodes any more. 26 or 52? Maybe....

Was anyone else getting a tad irritated at the beginning when Touma's blocking Index's magic with his right hand and he just keeps talking and talking and talking? Good stuff he was saying, I just couldn't help but think, "Hey Index, you're trying to destroy the intruder. Why are you letting him talk on and on?" D:

Aside from that, I have to mention this: Yay for Seki Toshihiko (he was the Aleister guy)! I haven't heard his voice is such a long time that it's nice to finally hear it again =)

I still rate it a 10, it's just this episode was a little below average for TAMnI.

It's a grand tradition in anime. I challenge anyone to name a series in which there wasn't a scene in which the hero gave an over-long speech while the bad guys patiently wait.

Yeah, I know it happens all the time but I just felt that this time it dragged on for so long that it was actually noticeable to me.

No index in this position couldn't do anything except than trying to break Touma's imagine breaker.
If she would have aim Styil or Kaori, Touma would have charge into her.

Styil and Kaori didn't want to fight Index at first and were mostly suprised that she can use magic. They wanted to continue the memories erasing plan while Touma hold her off, tough Touma won them over about trying to save her instead of destroying her memories. The speech was necessairy for the conclusion we have now, it probably would have turn into a memories erasing if Touma wouldn't have spoke.

Also St.George's sanctuary have a space distortion effect like said in the preview of the 6, also you see that she ''break'' through the dimension when she establish the sanctuary and that we can tell with Touma trying to reach her. It's not the first time we see magic involving a complete room or area.
Without Imagine Breaker I don't think he would even have reach her.

Fact is that Kaori destroyed a part of the floor to send Index's laser somewhere else giving time to Touma to charge to her, Styil summoned Innocentius to take the laser in Touma place (She was obviously aiming Touma, Styil launched Innocentius between the laser and Touma). I can guess that a hit from Innocentius would have done some good damage to Index, the reason why she prefered to destroy Innocentius before aiming back Touma, chekmate for Index. All that to give a path where Touma can use his Imagine Breaker to break through St-George's sanctuary and finaly reach Index.

After that the part where the feather fell was pretty stupid but I guess that Touma was pretty much tired cause he just gave all his energy to stop Index.

It's the way I saw this fight, obviously this was the best way. All of you who want super fight with nobody speaking and thinking and letting oppening over and over, well it wouldn't be that good for you. No Touma fucking won't start to evade all index laser which goes fucking fast just to make you happy.

aw man, they changed the scenario a bit

what's suppose to happen was:
right after Index was defeated, Kamijo had to catch all the feathers with his right hand to protect index (dragon's breath). However, he missed one. Just when it's about the hit index, Touma blocked it with his head, which caused him to lose memory

I say this the anime scenario ain't bad, but Touma's GARness was cut in half

This is a superior scenario...why J.C. Staff didn't do this is beyond me. Touma would have gotten 103,000 bonus points if he had done this.

Man, double bait-and-switch ending. At Least if they're pulling this kind of shit now, it's a little less likely the series as a whole will end the same way.

Though I'm curious... from Touma's first talk with Index after waking up, it's implied that he remembers nothing about anything; who he is, where he lives, and presumably other friends and maybe even family.

Then he says it's all a joke (soon after revealed to be a lie). What I wonder is, how much of the amnesia spiel was true, and how much was hyperbole to make it seem like an over-the-top (and totally callous) practical joke, and be more believable as such?

Anyways, this somehow seems like a better case than Index losing everything again.

Also, it seems this show is now about FUKKAN VAMPIRES. Oh yeah :D

Bloody irony this episode, he loses his memory, but then i never understood how that all worked, since he still remembers he's an esper and what they are yet didn't know his name.

They haven't made it clear what exactly he remembers, but i'm guessing he remembers nothing short term, ie since he met her, that would make sense.

Looking forward to more

This episode was good but not as good as I was hoping the fight scene was interesting and everything but that long run hes either freakishly slow, her attack made the room bigger, or they just weren't thinking about that and had him do it. I like the idea that they're getting vampires involved in this now I just hope they dont screw up with vampirism like they do in so many things I am liking the science vs magic thing though they're doing it better than expected. I'm hoping to see an improvement on his Imaginary Breaker and some Esper fights that'll be worth something though it's a little disappointing we haven't seen any yet in my eyes besides just sending a single electric shock at Touma

To be short he lost all his memories, normaly dragon breath should have killed him but since he have Imagine breaker I guess he managed to survive.
All that he remember is what Stiyl asked the doctor to tell him, that mean probably everything who happened and everything he knew about him because he let Index in his care for the time being.

And not all his brain cell are dead by the way, only those who contained is current memories, he have plenty other to go.
Just think before jumping to conclusion it make you look a bit... retard...

Not at the same rate, they're not. I don't think they're aiming for realism here, and more for dramatic irony. So just let that bull explanation slide. It's not the first nor last time Anime screws up scientific facts.

And about the supposed "GAR scene" with Touma and the Dragon's Breath, somehow I just can't picture it. I like it more this way, a tired Touma just forgets all about the feathers, Styil and Kaori suddenly notice and warn him, but it's too late. I don't really like it when they try to go out of their way to show how super macho and strong the main character is, so I have no objections with how it happened in the anime.

Well it's what happen when people don't think Leon =/.

Touma is a freacking level 0 student, it's not because by chance (or not, lets see the plot develop before) he got Imagine breaker that he's a super warior and won't get tired after doing all he've done.
I tough the Touma vs Kaori made it clear like water that Touma doesnt have either the strengh, the speed and the stamina of a warrior unlike Kaori who could have owned him without her "shichiten shichitou nanasen" who was just a showoff to scare him imo.

Well I don't like the whole "GARness" concept. Motherfucking HATE it and it's mention makes me RAGE actually...but,

I do like the idea in the manga better where he purposely moves his head down in order save Index. The anime feels missing something not having it.

Also, I figured they would make the reaching scene more dramatic, but...eh..
At least the whole episode was still pretty good.

Also, I'm not all the fond of him choosing the lying route to try to comfort her.
He should have broke it down easy for her, instead of just trying to make himself look like an ass to move those tears away. He should have made that whole "in my heart" speech in front of her instead.

I don't understand it.

I would normally say this is filler but it doesn't look like it. How weird.
Srsly this what's going on in the manga looks more filler than this stuff that's going on in the anime. I don't even understand.

What did you expected?

I hope that the anime won't follow an arc who is not finished, I would rather see a good filler arc with his own story than a total follow up from the manga who change for something who suck when they run out of material.

Full metal alchemist is a perfect exemple of that shit, they followed the manga then when they ran out of material they done something shitty for the ending.

I have read some of the Index manga and being frank I like the anime way better.

As for the pace of the anime I find it good tough that is a matter of opinion.

Now, that I could have seen him doing, since even though the "GAR" moment seemed unfit, the "staning there like an idiot" also seemed odd. He should have at least shown some reaction to Kaori and Styil warnings.

Exactly. Touma's one and only power is to negate all other powers with his right hand. He doesn't have super strength or reflexes nor did he train to acquire them. He's just a regular student who can ussually beat up ESPers, just because they get cocky and rely on their powers rather than brute force. When Kaori showed up and used no magic, she totally owned him. And guess what, I like it this way. He's a little like Shirou from F/SN in this respect (and in his preaching, but that's another issue).

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels the same way.

And I went from being really upset that they didn't have him head shield her, to hearing called GAR and almost wanting it not to have happened. GAR has the ability to ruin everything for me.

Well let's see what's going on here...this is chivalry. It's taking a completely beautiful act of self sacrifice that could have been done my either gender and making it a male chivalry thing. As in "Oh he's such a superior man in that he's saving the inferior females, how many female's have you saved? That's right, none, because you're nothing but a woman in comparison". Yeah I see how that works right there.

You know what, nevermind, I no longer miss his little act of self sacrifice.

I was a bit disappointed with the "daisuki" scene (whether you want to translate it as "like" or "love" doesn't matter) -- really, Index, you've known the guy for how long? Yes, he's saved her life, but they haven't had enough, you know, actual interaction in the series for the moment to be appropriately dramatic. They've been through a lot, but it was usually separately (and often with one of the parties passed out x.x) To be honest, I felt kind of the same about Touma's speech-making about Index.

Also, vampires? And am I the only one who thought it looked like Mr. floating-in-a-tube has boobs? (Or is it just the upside-down perspective that gives that illusion?)

Other than those issues, this was an OK episode. I really hope they get to the real "meat" of the plot soon, though.

While I think they did rush it a bit, it's really no surprise. Seriously here, Touma saved her life and sheltered her. Plus the guy risked his life to protect hers to the point of stupidity. If anything, Index's liking him, or even loving him, would not be so farfetched, considering the guy actually was there for her. Now, Touma risking his life for this random girl who happened to fall on his apartment's balcony... now that's something that's strange and stupid, yet no one questions it because male leads always have to be the heroes and protect the helpless females (that they happened to meet like, a day ago).

Well I guess at first he didn't planned to protect her to that extent but thing followed up and giving Index to people you think who want her dead would make him feel responsable for what would have happen afterward. Then he got involved, even tough he still could got away from this he made the choice to protect her, maybe because he got a liking to her, he wanted action or whatever reason.

I don't know but following Touma way he did the right thing, he just have a lot of resolve and is full in what he do.

The situation have develop to a good point, I don't think either Touma or Index are weird, they just happen to have their own circunstance who make them go this way.

I agree on the last line most of the time tough I don't think it fits this show, rather Touma would have been an asshole if he wouldn't have done what he did.

I agree, Index's love of Touma is not unfounded.
I don't even know how this is gonna work itself out, but it looks a lot more bleak now.
Not only does Index have a problem of the church still, but Touma doesn't remember a damn thing. And an irony of roles reversed. Somehow he's gotta get back his memory.
Even if his brain cells were destroyed...still...that just ain't right for a storyline.
And it especially ain't right if she never finds out the truth. That he was lying.

Poor Touma. I'm interested in seeing how the show is going to play from here on out.

Shits starting to get a little complicated though, with those last few minutes of dialogue. I'm getting a little skeptical with the vampire stuff but the episode was decent and I actually enjoyed the hospital scene a lot.

I voted 5 for the episodes, but with some regrets. Though I'm loving this series so far, there were 2 parts they I couldn't bear:

1 - the fighting room: ahem, what about that hand? It seemed to got broken in an instant due to the Dragon's Breath, it bleed too. But in the end he took any damage. Let's cut that part next time or make Mamijou's pain more realistic

2 - memory loss: I thought "Wow, a sad ending. He really became the hero". But after that the climax of Index's pain ended with a joke. IMO it was too sudden. What about the same effect but avoiding the frivolous joke? He could immediately say those things... I felt sorry for Index, even though she stopped crying.

Rather boring and unintentionally funny fight/talk scene. But the surprising end of the episode (Touma lost his memories + Vampires) saved the day! ^^
