Haha Highland D(P)ark Scotch!

Also Kougami was on a roll there with that pattern trace down. That was pretty smart analytical thinking. My opinion of him went way up in this episode for sure!

It would be a waste not to put the following,

In! MADE MY DAY MAN! Nido dying like the shit he was, certainly got me smiled in favour of he who kills must be killed for slaughter of the innocent shall not be tolerated. So they say around. Nido was a plain sad loser of a human waste. He got consumed by jealousy of the other avatars and could only be a lame shit of a human waste to seek solutions of the most easiest ways. That of killing and taking avatars of the most popular types.

I am worried about Akane because I can see she will be crying at Kougami's past. I can feel she might, the flashback of Kougami's past for what was shown of them look rather depressive. I shall leave as that and might edit later.

The 25 year is pretty good ^_^

... Still wishing to try the 40 year >_> ~ 2k $ a bottle though

-rewatching the last 5 minutes of this episode seem like a bad acid trip this guy had... This virtual world is something intense.

Also damn you leg!!! Where is the pop and splat?

Ep 6 is going to be interesting I believe! Time to bring out that Cheshire grin again :D

I thought this episode was wicked !!
Didn't thought that the suspect was so crazy!! But then the tittle of the anime says it all!!
Getting ready for crazier shit!!
Now it's a shock how Shinya was that other guys partner...
Wonder what did Shinya do to be a criminal.
I still don't trust some of those people.

shinya is seriously a fcking BEAST!!!
it's amazing how in depth he went with spooky boogie's speech patterns just to find that one clue that showed an imposter had taken over the avatar

and the dominator to the arm... DAYUM!!!
loved how the douche ended up getting pwnd by all those dominators at once
im surprised he just didnt turn into a cloud of blood, some of his body was somehow still left over xD

and then finding out that shinya was previously an inspector himself... didn't really surprise me, but still pretty nice to know

Yeah, me too! They hinted so much at the past relationship between Masaoka and Gino. Having Shinya be Gino's partner was extremely surprising.

I'm glad we're finally getting some backstory going on here. Hopefully soon we'll see what exactly caused Shinya's crime coefficient to become so dangerous.

I was thinking more that the alarm system disabled the holographic system and that old man knew of it.

I am not sure of the fire itself in getting rid of the hologram. It can however tell you what is holographic and not by burning it.

My god, that guy is more creepier than Sugou than Sword art online even though he was voiced by the same VA.

I assumed that Mido was also operating Talisman (as Talisman was one of the Avatars in his room at the end). The 'Big Bad' who was funding the case also didn't really seem interested in the taking over Avatars shtick, more so in Mido himself, as well.

I thought so too, but then Ginoza mentions
He only suspected someone in thee end to have controlled the avatars and hence he though of it as suspicious but as to who, he never could have gotten them. They were totally elsewhere and were hacking. All they had to do was disconnect and they would never find them.

That being said it Kougami who had the happy trigger.

Yeah, seeing those dominators in action always gets me excited. >=D Love those action scenes.
Mido gets betrayed by his virtual avatars that he had stolen thanks to Makishima who's Kougami's man rival(?). Seeing people explode seems like the norm in Psycho-Pass. xD

So Kougami was previously an inspector and focused on the investigation more over his own therapy which lead to his Crime Coefficient becoming so high. Damn, I bet Makishima was the one involved in that particular case.

I wish they wouldn't just randomly throw philosophers into the conversation. The Plato reference wasn't even followed by an explanation, and somehow I doubt most viewers get it or even care enough to look it up, so what purpose did it serve?
Those fans who are curious will do research about it. It may not be many but if they succeed in attracting some more people to take a deeper interest, they may even get more people to buy the BD/DVD or recommend the show to others. I would say that viewers are not expected to know the reference right away, so elaboration immediately followed the name dropping, in both Rousseau and Terayama's cases.

That said, you said "the Plato reference wasn't even followed by an explanation" but I do not remember Plato being mentioned though... where was it mentioned?
Note: I do not use any English sub, perhaps it is only the sub mentioning Plato?

Anyway, here are the references mentioned in this episode, for those who want to know more:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discourse_on_Inequality
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terayama_Shuji (for Terayama, I do not see the work mentioned in the anime, "Saraba Eiga" / Goodbye Movie, but I find a work by Terayama named "Saraba Hakobune" / Goodbye Ark )
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Im not 100% sure if the japanese audio spoke completely of plato, but my sub definitely said it. he spoke about if there is 2 hunters in the same forest should they hunt rabbits separately or should they team up and hunt something bigger. he said the second one was correct because humans are a social existence and he said something about "is the internet doing the same thing" as in is the internet helping to build our social relations with each other.

Urobuchi Gen is really such a genius. I want to say something, maybe it was just the subs, but Mido was talking about Plato's Theory of Idea, right? Or was that just my misconception?

I think he was though I can't say that I fully understand Plato's Theory of Idea/Forms since I'm not too familiar with it. From what I could grasp it is related to Plato as far as the abstract Forms of the avatars are concerned, as they have transcended reality (from Mido's point of view) as beings more perfect and "real" than the changeable and material world, which would fit Plato's belief that the objects we see are mere copys that mimic the real Forms (see "allegory of the cave").

Which is rather ironic, since Mido used the avatars as characters he could insert himself in and they can be manipulated by anyone who has the skills to do so as shown at the end. They have neither gained independence nor are they anything more than "costumes" one can put on if they feel like it.

I didn´t realize it that well ´till you pointed it out. I think the fact that he was using the avatars as "costumes" made him feel that his existence was more close to the real word which Plato talked about on his theory. Even so, if his existence as it is couldn´t desprend of the "avatars" of thinking presents on the average human being, his actions, rather than a change of pace and introduction to this "world of the ideal", were only a mere roleplaying based on the idea that just knowing the fundamentals will get him close to the reality described on the theory.
