Hm... I wonder how this would go... It'll probably do well since Death Note is popular.

while I still have my doubts with the adaptation turning into something epic by Hollywood, I'll most likely see it anyways once in theater......considering the Black is an actual fan of the manga and not just someone who thinks it will sell well(thinking dragonball here), it may actually turn out worth watching

damn, does this mean the Death Note movie might actually be good?

I was really hoping it would be hilariously bad.

Might be interesting, especially since Black is a fan of the manga himself, like Scrypt said, not like with Dragonball. It's also better filmable than Dragonball I think. Let's hope it turns into somthing that'll give a good image of Death Note to the people unfamiliar with anime.

I'm sure it will be as good as the Dragonball movie. Live action adaptations are almost always terrible.

I don't see how they can mess this one up as much as Dragonball... Although, I think he's probably only going to adapt the setting and the characters, like most live-actions.

I think I can forgive them if they include that scene.

I think they should just leave Death Note alone. Whether it's successful or not, it will be bad. What's worse? Screwing up an awesome story or doing it right and having a million retarded fan-girls/ guys becoming obsessed with it?

I'd still watch it if there was no Ryuk as Ryuk wasn't actually the embodiment of Death Note. The death gods were more side kicks I reckon the movie could still work without them....and it's an adaptation. Adapatations doesn't mean it has to stick closely to the source. Now I'm not pro for anything live-action but considering there is more realism in Death Note then there is in Dragonball, I don't think it would end in utter failure.

I'm not sure what to think of this. I heard about that this may have been a possibility about a year ago but I was never sure if it was ever going to happen or not. The director has a good record so far so hopefully the movie will be decent. The only thing that I am truly worried about is who are going to portray L and Misa since they are important characters in the series, especially L. They are going to need a strong cast if they want the movie to be successful.

well.... i can't say that i'm thrilled to hear about an American live-action version of Death Note, especially since i jus saw (yesterday) the Japanese live-action trilogy. with past disasters of Ju-On, One Missed Call, The Eye & other American remakes of Japanese movies, if you like this anime, don't expect much out of this remake except some 'Hollywooding'. No matter who's the Director, the Producers & Execs get to it before the Director does; that's where it gets 'screwed'. so, i say look forward to this American version with caution. after all... Hollywood HAS messed up some of the classic remakes (i.e. Clash Of The Titans).

We've already got enough adaptations of Death Note, so could we just let it end peacefully? These idiots just keep on resurrecting and butchering stuff until everything is unrecognisable. So please, don't let Death Note got the way of Dragonball, Pokemon, K-On, Sailor Moon and Gundam.

I don't think I like the idea that Light picking up the Death Note is what makes him evil. Isn't it more what he decides to do with it that's evil? Not the book itself. Oh well.

I'm going to try and reserve my judgement of this movie until I actually see it. I don't know if I really want to see it but I know I still will.
