Looking for anime that takes place in the medieval age

In this summer, I finished loads of anime and 2 of them stands out the most of all and its
Full metal alchemist and Spice and Wolf, and i realize that i really like the setting in story.
Its getting quite boring watching those anime that take place in high schools and present time. I went through the recommendation page on both anime and find results that dont really fit my need so I came here to ask for help. Thanks!

The Legend of the Legendary Heros - They very Legendary, I mean they got two "legend" in the title.

Also Full Metal Alchemist does not take place in medieval times, it sets in around the 19th century I believe.

Yeah i just realize I explained what I want wrong, not "medieval" just the era where
the place isn't completely developed like in modern society.
And the one you requested is a good anime :) I'm on it already, 1 episode a week is a pain:(

Basilisk: Kouga Ninpou Chou
Rurouni Kenshin OVA's and series
Samurai Champloo
Samurai Deeper Kyo

one's that have a medieval feel outside of Japan:

Scrapped Princess
Valkyria Chronicles(well not medieval but more WW1)
Tales of the Abyss
Fate/stay night( does have a high school setting, but the leading femme is pretty much medieval)
Tears to Tiara

Strongly seconding Rurouni Kenshin OVA's and series and Basilisk: Kouga Ninpou Chou.

Zero no tsukaima has medieval elements imbued with fantasy/magic in it. Too bad it's an typical harem fanservice show.

Kazemakase Tsukikage Ran - girls with swords, comedy, characters, relaxing watch, set in Japan when samurais were stilll in place.

Claymore - apparently set in a medieval-like fantasy era. Inferring from others' words, manga is better than anime.

How about shows not set in modern society but in a dated one, like Chrono Crusade, or Senkou no Night Raid?

Now, keep in mind that even though both these titles start off in modern times, they very early on switch to that non-present-day setting you wish to see. Also, these two series are must-watches.

What's interesting, though, is that despite these anime seeming to have people from the past, it may very well be a kind of future the audience is looking at, though not one they'd expect.

claymore is pretty good
gurren lagaan-it's technically not modern it develops into one but still this is a must see-
sengoku basara
samurai deeper kyo
saiyuki reload
D.gray man
kuroshitsuji/black butler
hero tales.

there's a lot. for every school/modern anime there's one that's futuristic/medival. lol hope this helps you out lol

First one I don't really agree with, I don't think the medieval had robots.
The second one took place during Japan's Warring State Era, and it's really amazing. I highly recommend it. (It's also based on a video game, so if you like the anime make sure to buy the games!)

Samurai Champloo is actually set in the late 1800s. But I guess since Japan was isolationist at the time it doesn't really matter.
