Does this get better or the overall feel of the series can be sensed in it's first episodes?

Ok, two episodes in and I'm really disliking the show. I was drawn to this anime by many things: being a 90s boy, this being a series from David Production, the historical value of the anime, etc.

I know many comedy animes start slow or hit and miss in the first episodes because they are introducing the whole cast and it picks ups the pace after like episode 6, but if episode 1 and 2 give a good glimpse of the comedy to come, I guess I can drop it now and spare myself the let down.

yeah then drop it cause it's about the same if not even more wilder! this is coming from a hardcore fan of the series! the comedy is all over the place which I like but it's just gonna get crazier and more characters and they will add to the craziness of the series! so if you don't like it then drop it! I hope this helps! 😊

If you’re not into the 80s humor and aren’t convinced to stick around by the aesthetics, yeah drop it. It’s an episodic character comedy, it’s not like there’s a big game changing plot twist coming or something. It’s not the type of thing that “gets good”.

This isn’t the type of show where there is some over arching plot. It’s a serial where every day is the same but new hijinks ensue.

The whole series is mainly slapstick gag humor that follows the same pattern of Ataru chasing some girl, Lum gets mad, then she yells at him and shocks him. It can get repetitive, but I'm still watching because I love the art style. There are some episodes that add depth to the characters, but not too many in the first season. The second season has a little bit more of that.

Yes, it gets better as the series goes on. More characters are introduced. With more characters comes more jokes. And the stories themselves get more creative and absurd. But if you don't like it in 2 episodes then I don't know if you'll like the rest. So just drop it and watch something else.

If you really feel like it then watch the original Urusei Yatsura. The delivery of the jokes feel more natural and the stories are more unhinged. But just like the remake, it starts off a bit slow and gets better and better with each season.

Maybe give it another shot after some time. You could even watch some clips on YouTube to get a taste.
