All Men Must Die!

so the only reason why Richard was introduced is so we can see how Johan can fuck with his victims. What a brilliant mf!

Still don't understand why that dude with the glasses put a pen into his ear but whatever

Shout out that Johan had the same birthday as I . (February 9th)
Also why did that serial killer kill himself after seeing Johan's photo? To keep himself from snitching or just the pure terror Johan invoked

This little snippet from Episode 29: Dr. Gillen is interviewing the murderer Peter Jurgens. He shows Peter a picture of Johan and Peter says that he does not know him, and then he asks him for a pen.

He takes the pen and begins shading around the face of the man in the picture. He tells Dr. Gillen that on the second day of the murder, he had gone to the park; he was telling himself that he wanted to stop, and then he saw the man surrounded by children there. Peter then repeats the words "You should come too" over and over again while some ominous little tune plays and the camera does a close up on his expressionless face.

He then takes the pen and plunges it into his right ear. Blood squirts out and he falls over dead.

I wonder why Peter Jurgens shades Johan's hair and why did he kill himself after that.

He was so taken by Johan's familiarity on him(reason why he shades his hair) that he actually killed himself on the sight of his photo.

F*ck as soon as Johan picked that bottle I knew things would get risky by either him killing him and then making it look like he was drunk but in this case, he dismantled him verbally and make Richard do the deed himself(?) man I liked the private investigator yes, he was flawed but that is precisely why I liked him he was trying to amend for his sins it is a shame that his daughter would never see him alive again… Johan is truly a Monster!

Well I guess his death flag can't be more obvious
I guess next is the doctors

That was a creepy episode, I truly fear Johan.. Glad he's not a real life person

I was on the edge of my seat earlier while watching this episode. I felt angry towards Johan Liebert, he's really a pure devil. Mr. Richard, even though he already knew almost about Johan's identity, he still cannot escape death. Johan killed him. I pity Mr. Richard so much because he didn't see his daughter before he died. To Johan, he acts like innocent but I don't like his character.

Johan was brilliant. That detective sure fucked up. Still not a great episode. Detective found out all the loopholes, but was an idiot for following Johan to a secluded place. Unless if he(Richard) was planning to rape him(Johan), which would directly violate UN human rights.

It is possible that the detective killed himself over the guilt, but COME ON. SO CLICHE. I would blame the detective for not putting Johan in jail. Looks like the DDLC x Monster Meme turned out to be true. 2 people already died of their own volition by Johan's words.

And that pen stabbing scene. Do detectives and shrinks lose their minds as the series progresses?

Now, if you will excuse me, I will have a drink. Care to join me?

Without change,we end up becoming the very person we hate.

I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was bound to lead me to a slow death.

R.I.P Richard. I think after Johan experienced the 511 Kinderheim incident he became less tolerant for injustice made to kids.

Johan really fucked him up huh. I think that the emotional manipulation was pretty intense but he shoul have kept in mind the techniques Johan employs

Maaan, given the era this is from I could tell his death was coming. All the typical tropes were there to foreshadow his eminent doom. It really sucks tho. I really liked his character and started to emphasize with him. I'm not sure how this arc will wrap up. I'm pretty sure Tenma was on his way to this town right before this arc started, so I'm wondering if he will join in soon.

Richard should just deny everything that Johan said and if necessary shoot him.

Though I think, there's still some supernatural things going around here. Like a photo of Johan makes someone kill him/herself.
He who smiles in a crisis has found someone to blame.

Grrrg, seriously, what are those poll numbers? You spent 10 hours lured into the show by it's hyped realism, ignoring relatively minor protagonists believability problems (lets pretend that behind the scenes villain's omnipotence is the basis of such stories), only to face the most idiotic I'm-falling-onto-the-plots-gravitational-orbit sequence of character's actions on-par with Harry Potter clone books.
For the viewer Richard's investigation took just an hour, but for the detective himself it were weeks if not months of hard thought. There is literally zero chance that a real-life person conjured from the shown patterns of Richard's behavior, after witnessing crime scenes of several brutal murders, discovering the grave of original Johan and two times being nearly killed in one day - would simply follow the main suspect onto the roof in the night

It's been a while since I've watched it, but why did Jurgens kill himself? Was it hypnosis and a picture of Johan would trigger it? Does that mean, Johan is a mentalist too?

Anyway, great episode overall, but like many have pointed it out, there are weak spots here and there, not just in this episode but in some other before it. It's too convenient at times how some characters suddenly react unreasonable or stupid or how Johan always is one step ahead. At first watch I didn't notice these things, but now, many years and many animes later, I do notice them. Still, one of the best anime, if not perfect.

People seem to be labeling this as Richard spontaneously becoming dumber for the sake of making Johan look smart.

Keep in mind that Richard was considered ill and experienced mental blocks whenever he was reminded of the guilt he felt from shooting that kid. Johan forced that feeling back into him before they left the bar and headed for the roof.

Finally we see more of how Johan mess with people’s mind and conscience. He’s really terrifying.

I agree with this. He’s unstable and people who are suffering or suffered from abuse in alcohol or drugs are vulnerable. The fact that Johan successfully use Richard’s guilt feelings prove that Richard is still not mentally healthy.

This is the first time that we really see Johan really mess with someone's mind. I knew that Richard was, unfortunately, going to die, they were heavily foreshadowing it. It was a nice reveal that he wasn't drunk when he shot the kid I wasn't expecting it.
