Z is better in every aspect except pacing in some. Kai has a much better dub though. The filler in early DBZ is actually better then the manga.

DragonBall Z Abridged is the way to go. It's only 69 episodes.

But really Kai is pretty sufficient, it was a joke that you could watch every third episode and not miss anything it turns out that is pretty close to (291 to 97 for Kai). The fastest way would be to just read the manga if time is your concern.
There's no need for all this tension.

If you're starting it just go with Kai better voice acting and overall more faithful to the manga

If you don't have any issue with filler then for sure watch the original. The Saiyan saga for Kai in my opinion kinda sucks because the filler they had, added so much to the experience. Also Kai drops 2 major spoilers before they're supposed to happen. They probably did this because people who have not seen the original need a lot more context to understand the story. Honestly Kai is a lot easier to get into as it's shorter but I believe they worsen the experience more than they make it better. If you haven't seen the original dragon ball show then I would honestly recommend DBZ Kai. It's easier to get into, they give a whole recap in the first episode, and they give more context to help you out. However if you have seen the original show, then for sure watch the original DBZ. A lot of the filler they have links and references to the original dragon ball show and it's really enjoyable to see. Also those 2 major spoilers that get ruined in Kai will probably want to make you kill yourself if you've seen the first show. So in simple terms. If you've seen the first dragon ball, watch og DBZ. If you haven't seen the first show, then watch DBZ Kai. Overall though they both give you great experiences because the story is still the same incredible tale of Goku and friends. Both shows have their pros and cons but they are both great!

Kai. the redone animation can be unbearable at times, but it’s worth it when the episodes aren’t several minutes of screaming.

Z, if you want the full experience.
the “full experience” is watching Kai, it’s the only story the creator made, and it’s literally how the creator believes it should be watched. are you really defending filler?

I've watched only Z and even that when i was 10 year old or something.
As far as i have heard, kai was a remake of dragon ball z but this time more faithful to manga. I've heard dub in kai is better and ofcourse it's a remake so it's animation quality is better than original.

The abridged version is ironically the best version of DBZ. Honestly though the manga is superior in world building and narrative.

I'm currently watching kai , it's not as good as the original so far but it skips filler and the fights aren't dragged out so it's not bad although I would reccomend watching dbz first and watching dbz kai sometime after

For the people telling him to watch DBZA I get it it is good and you are allowed to like it more than the original but it’s like supplementary content. Something to watch if you enjoyed the original not a replacement for it

I believe there is very little reason to watch Z over Kai, because Z is so much longer. That being said, even Kai's pacing isn't exactly quick compared to modern shounen. Also, the original Z has an awful sound quality, because of the way Toei stored their film tapes (which is a shame because the OST and voice acting is quite good). *

*I noticed you're already watching the first DB, so you might not have a problem with the audio.

start with dragon ball. If you watch the sub, both dbz and dbkai are good, it comes down to whether you’re fine with the filler or not. But for the dub, kai is superior
