The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (light novel)
| The Sneaker Bunko website just announced that it will be publishing a brand new Haruhi Suzumiya short story in The Sneaker magazine: https://sneakerbunko.jp/special/30th-fair/legend.html The page is in Japanese, but I ran some things through the good ol' Google Translate software, and the information from it seems solid enough for a program. Essentially, the magazine The Sneaker will publish this Haruhi story in their next(?) issue on October 31st, along with short stories from KonoSuba and Record of Lodoss War. The short story is translated by Google as "7 Wonders Overtime" but surely this isn't a very exact title translation (EDIT: a more accurate translation of the title is "Seven Mystery Overtime," thank you triton down below for the info and source). Nevertheless, this is very exciting news, considering the article also google translated to say "A short story written by the author for the first time in 5 years," which, damn, that's a long time. Wikipedia says that The Sneaker serialized the original Haruhi stories, so this is essentially the series returning back to form, maybe. It didn't seem to say anything about publishing any more stories after this, but perhaps we can hold out on hope that the series will actually resume for real after this. I loved the anime and I plan on reading the books in the near future, and what a better time than any with the series seemingly resurfacing after so long. |
