Runge reminds me of the cop from Les Miserables. I think his desire to prove Tenma's guilt will eventually drive him crazy.

For a second there I actually tought Lunge had changed his mind. Dang it!

Also, not a lot of people commented on the fact that Tenma's planning to kill Johan, huh?

What Gillen said about Lunge was right on the spot. It's confirmed, Lunge wouldn't believe that Tenma's innocent eventhough Johann confessed in front of his face. He's afraid, he will always in denial.

Runge's ego got the better of him. I'm glad he's still in the game tho, he's one of the most interesting characters in Monster.

Looks like Lunge is letting his ego take advantage of him.

Dammit Gillen! Did you really think that the narcissistic Lunge was going to believe you even if you gave him all that proof?! Now Tenma's in some deep shit unless he gets the hell out of Munich quick.

Things are beginning to get interesting once again! Oh I love this anime.

8/10 for this episode.

From purely moral view, I can't sea killing Johan is a bad thing.
Execution is well deserved! How many deaths should someone cause so that he is executed?
My feelings is that IF Tenma kills Johan and the police knew about Johan crimes, then he should be considered a hero not a criminal. Then again, that is a big "IF"

Dat Johan rape face at the tv scene tho.

Lunge/Runge is a very stubborn guy, great acting skills tho to get Tenma's whereabouts.

Finally the doc laying it down to Lunge.
But god damnit Lunge. Like, for a detective that is as smart as he is, he's not even bothering to listen to anybody, or even checking anything up. It honestly feels as if him been oblivious is just the writer's way of extending the story. Although I may be wrong and this could be leading to something awesome...

Needless comparison ahead: Death Note seems a lot better at being realistic. The detectives in death note are all really clever, and never discount any information. They take everything on board, even if they do have their own suspicions. I wonder... if Lunge had been swapped out from one of the detectives on the team to chase down Kira, there would be a lot less bungling, and more apprehending. It almost feels like a series of unfortunate events, where you know what will happen (something bad happens to the children - their happiness is somehow ruined) because there are 13 books, and every book is standard in that they always end up homeless + ppl loved killed, and it has been written as if everything is working against them to the point where it feels as if the characters aren't actively changing the story (the way it should be) - instead the story is planned, and the characters are restricted to playing out their roles (feels forced, and written)

Loved Gillen's analysis of Lunge, and just as he said there is no way Lunge will make a 360 away from Tenma after all the sacrifice he made, it would be far too early for him to see the light.

Yeah it was really good. Gillen got him in regards to his analysis of Lunge's personality, but it seems Lunge got one back at him with getting Tenma's location by lying.

And it looks like Nina is appearing next episode. I think everyone's path is going to meet up somehow.

Lunge keeps pissing me off more and more. His determination to get Tenma, regardless of if he is the killer or not, is ultimately going to be the end of him...especially once Johan comes around.

If my understanding is correct did Lunge discarded Rudy observation about the case and about him just because he is obsessed to capture Tenma just to prove he hasn’t committed any mistake… I can’t wait to see his face when all of this Tenma is guilty and nothing can be proven goes down the drain, I just can’t wait.

I can't believe that Guibert played right into Lunge's hands. I for one knew that he was playing him.

And Johan is on TV, like he is saying to Tenma,"Come and get me". That stare.

I think that the reason why Johan didn't want anyone to see his photo is because he is gonna do something bad at the EU conference and kill some important person.

X-men anyone?

The shrink's analysis looked correct, but I think it was just made up. Maybe or maybe not.

I hope there will be an action filled exciting episode sometime soon.

I was so glad Lunge was exposed like that by Gillian. Wish the doctor hadn't been talked into revealing Tenma's whereabouts. God, I hate Lunge. What will it take for him to realize, to even consider, that Tenma is innocent?

Even tho Gillen gave a good statement about why Tenma's not the killer, and even though he analized every single aspect and characteristics of the personality of Runge in front of his eyes... HE JUST WONT GIVE UP. Jesus mother fucking Christ, Runge pisses me off really hard. I hate that kind of personality.

This! Runge is sure an interesting character for the show, but I really can't get myself to like him. People like him pisses me off. He's borderline narcisstic and I don't care he's supposed to be brilliant, because he isn't, really. If two doctors are closer to the truth than he is, that says a lot about his competence. He probably only dealt with simple murder cases and such, but he is at his limit when it comes to psycho killers such as Johan. He prides himself in understanding the psychology of murderers, but he never met someone like Johan. If you can't admit your mistake, you never learn. That's where his limit as a detective lies.
The highlight of this episode is when Gillen analyzed his personality. Even though Runge seemed unfazed by it, it could still sting his pride a bit.

Yes, very strong Javert vibes, especially because Tenma and Dieter are like Jean Valjean and Cosette. You'd think the Javert stereotype would have lost its charm after being overused for like 2 centuries, but it's still so damn effective.
Runge is different from Javert though. He doesn't really believe or care about the Justice system, at least i don't think he is. He has no idealism. His obsession is much more self centered, and he snapped way earlier than Javert too. I wonder where they're going with his arc.
This series has some genuinely unpredictable plot twists, can't wait to see what comes next.

I have the same face as Gillen has when Lunge said his conclusion that the crimes are not connected and are still impossible. I’m really pissed off with his attitude. He’s becoming an idiot by being clouded with his obsession of Tenma. He can’t clearly make a judgement now. He just want to capture Tenma and put all the blame to him. Gillen is right, Lunge doesn’t want to admit his mistake.

Hopefully he’ll never change so that the mistake he’s making will be a slapped to his face in the end. I can’t bare to see him taking the credit of Richard and the doctor’s investigation.
