| It's also an incredibly bizarre manga. Knowledge of Judeo-Christian mythology is quite useful when reading this (particularly on angels, types and orders of angels, etc, I would consider taking a crash course in angels present in Shin Megami Tensei games, believe it or not). Unlike a lot of series that treat angels like cute or bishonen, winged humanoids, Angel Sanctuary does not (though it does tend to draw them as bishonen, they're not entirely benevolent beings either) |
