If I had to choose between the two, I'd choose shounen, because seinen works tend to have weird, disturbing things in them, which I find offensive.

Not everything about shounen is perfect, either. I generally avoid battle shounen, or anything that has extreme violence in it, so you'd never get me to read something like "Attack on Titan," because it's too violent for me.

Both have merit and can be enjoyable.

I find myself enjoying more seinen series like Hellsing, i do love gore and violence.

Is this like a life-threatening scenario where I must choose no matter what? Am I forced to abandon one or something? If not then I'm not gonna make the decision. I'd like to have both because why not.

probably seinen, at the end of the day i enjoy them more than shounen with few exceptions, i'm not diturbed by gore or nudity and there are some works that you couldn't do in a shounen, other than shounens ebing stretched out for sales most of the time like whats happening with tokyo revengers, art in seinen is sually better too

Seinen. Most of my favorite manga come from this demographic. Shounen is aimed for younger audiences so you will usually see your typical action shonen and maybe some comedies but usually are somewhat similar. Seinen doesnt have the restraint of it being meant for teens and kids so it has more liberty of going as deep as it wants to be or as gruesome. It doesnt always need to be disturbing things but its just a more mature as it is meant for am older demographic so I prefer it overall.

Seinen all the way. Great stories are found there. Like my fav seinen the strongest man kurosawa. I loved reading it. One piece is an exception. It's great even by being shounen manga. I like shounen anime but not manga. Most of the times the stories are generic so the action makes it great somehow

Seinen easily. Shounen manga drop the ball too often and use way too many similar tropes.

From my experience the demographic never told me, if I will like a story or not. I don't care if it's labeled as shoujo / josei or shounen / seinen or not at all.

Seinen for me. All my most favs are seinen, except DB and OP. We all know those two are the best shounen of all-time.

Shounen because it has One Piece, Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Slam Dunk, Rurouni Kenshin and many other of my favorite manga. I haven't found been able to find many good Seinen manga.

sometimes it is seinen because it has a more complex story and adult themes, it is not set in high school and the people have real problems and so on. that is certainly a plus. but sometimes it is labeled as seinen simply because the violence scenes are more explicit. kingdom is as immature as one piece but heads are getting choped off. if i had to guess i would say that the average seinen is better than the average shonen but the best mangas are mostly shonen. most manga are shounen so even if it has more trash relatively, in absolute numbers it still wins.

both have ups and down but for me i think seinen have a bit creativity because the creator can create and plot the whole story without any chains , and the plot can be twist and mostly you can't predict anything and that's why it's favorable for me

And that's not gonna change fact that i like shounen and it's dear to me

I would say shounen because a lot of my favourite anime and manga are shounen

I like seinen as well but seeing as I'm in the shounen age group I like shounen a bit more

I think most of the series that I have read or am reading are mostly shounen genre. I don't particularly choose it but the series that appeal more to me happen to be in this genre. Series like One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, Fairy Tail, Death Note, Hunter x Hunter and many more are some of my favourites.

Surprisingly Chi's Sweet Home is classified as seinen though it is a kiddy series where it illustrates a lost kitten's adventurous life after being picked up and lived with a loving (human) family.

Seinen because many seinen anime are obscure and they are many seinen anime with shounen elements but with a more serious tone and different and also seinen fits me.
We always have hardships.

seinen for manga
shounen for anime
some of the kindest souls I know have lived in a world that was not kind to them.
some of the best human beings I know, have been through so much at the hands of others,
and they still love deeply, they still care.

sometimes, it´s the people who have been hurt the most, who refuse to be hardened in this world,
because they would never want to make another person feel the same way they themselves have felt.
if that´s not something to be in awe of, I don´t know what is.

MAL is a far cry from being my main literature site, that's why I won't be doing mere single chapter updates anymore. Manga- aka Baka-Updates + 2 French ones are miles better and more thorough/complete + less restricting. The latter are perfectly suited for Manga/Light Novel/Books collectors such as myself. Less stressful/tiring this way. -g-

Shonen is about boys surviving because they are main character, seinen is about men strugguling to achive their goal (ex. Guts wanting happiness) Seinen is also way more realistic most of the times. So seinen.

Shounen isn't a definitive term, so yeah! Very broad stuff.

At this point, I'll read any manga as long as it ain't kids stuff or centered around some reincarnated dweeb doctor assumed to have potential for supergenius intellect overnight. Once a loser, always a loser. Even in the next life.

I don't really care about demographic of manga, it describes nothing about manga. I'll read any manga I find interesting.

Deffo seinen. I enjoy a good shounen now and then but they always start to feel repetitive after a while. With seinens I can explore a vast arrange of topics/perspectives/philosophies no matter how taboo (of course I still have my limits haha).
