like, do you know proper grammar, proper definitions, proper word conjugation, etc?

I notice even a lot of native speakers misuse grammar, definitions, and more, including myself

what about you? do you regularly misuse it?

Of course i misuse it, but sometimes it is more convenient that way. Firstly on the internet i like to use "u" instead of "you" and crap like that to take less time.

Also english has dialects and some of those just conveniently shorten words. Examples: "gonna" "yall"

If we went into semantics, some might say knowing a dialect adds to ur knowledge of language rather than counting as a misuse. Since u technically know more words in the language.

Oh the irony in that title.

I myself am quite a fluent English writer and speaker. Although when speaking a ton of words are shortened here in Australia and I do that too but in terms of grammar and writing I'm pretty spot on.

Idk why but my grammar can get slightly messed up at times only while typing.
I mean it's fine when I'm speaking or writing. I'm guessing this is because I don't exactly type the way I speak so that I can look cool on the Internet or something.
I still don't use phrases like 'could of' or confuse 'there' with 'their' and ' they're'.

If you do see any grammatical mistakes in my post it's probably because I'm on my phone...

My English is very limited and I have zero irl experience with native English speakers.
So I try my best to express thoughts online correctly and as simple as possible.
However many people told me I have good pronunciation for a non-English speaker.

I look at the english language pretty much every fucking day so I'd assume I'm okay at it
I tend to add a bunch of commas everywhere for no reason because I just type as if I'm speaking

Let's just say that I found The Scarlett Letter light reading. And I've read the The Canterbury Tales as it was written. This one was a real challenge, though.

I use them all the time; it's really not that hard.

O/T if I write a paragraph my words will be missing . I will think I typed something right but just to end up looking at it and seeing so many errors . I sometimes miss whole sentences that are crucial for the whole thing to make sense.

You're not suppose to start sentences with And / But, truthfully though... that's just being a grammar nazi because no one really cares lol about that. At least internet wise...

OT: As a native speaker (also only language) I'd say it's pretty good but I still have my misspells here and there. I'm usually typing from my phone though so on here I have autocorrect. Which tends to catch my occasional errors, sometimes I still make them though because I don't always proof read and they slip by.

I've never really seen anyone with bad English also honestly (Non-native), I remember playing Dragon's Crown (JRPG I think) and the servers were universal. One day I unexpectedly ended up playing with a Chinese player. I found out because I sent them a message and they quickly replied, apolgizing in advance because their English wasn't that great. I was just a bit shocked because they only had one small mistake which is a common grammar error anyway. Although, we didn't have a full conversation so it could of actually been bad.

I know the differences between too, two, and to, your and you're, and there, their, and they're so I'm already in the top 1%, I'd say. I really do hate a lot of the rules though, so you can often find me spelling words as I would speak them like 'em, couldn't've, gonna --which is slang for the future tense of do and NOT slang for "going to [place]"!--, c'mon, and whattaya (as in "whattaya mean?").

I honestly only survived English courses in school because of my excellence in grammar, spelling, and punctuation, as the highest score I've ever received on a composition was 73%.

For the most part I'm pretty good with everything. My only problem is that I forget words really easily and end up using really strange in place of the word I couldn't remember because my brain just stalls sometimes I guess lol. English is my first language so I don't forget words in the sense of just straight up not remembering them.. It's hard to explain it's like having a word on the tip of your tongue and knowing what it means but having no clue what it is. My mom is the same.

I'd like to think I'm decent at relaying my message. If I do stumble, it seems that my point still comes across despite the improper use of some words or poor structure.

Most of the time I feel as if it depends on whether or not I'm under the influence. Marijuana, Acid and Alcohol does quite a bit to my speech pattern. Whether or not someone can inherently tell the difference is another story. :P

I don't have a problem with written English, since I use it pretty much on daily basis. (Tho I'm not on friendly terms with articles, I often skip them *glares at 'the' and 'a'*)

But spoken English, that's a completely different story. After coming to UK I found out that it's actually pretty difficult to understand local people, I have to get used to that accent... And my English sounds pretty awkward, I guess. For some funny reason I have quite high pitched voice when I speak English, I should work on that too.

I consider English as my first language because I really suck at my mother tongue Telugu. Plus I talk to almost everybody in English and I even use to communicate with my parents.

My accent is that of a neutral Indian accent that's a bit hard to listen to unless I speak a bit loud.

I'm okay I'd say. I hate tenses though.... I never know when to use which, only know the present/past/future but not some of the other "in-between" ones. I did recieve an award once because apparently I had the best result of the whole school..

also... the title is a bit ironic... or was that intentional?
