Another episode where insert songs didn't feel completely out of place, though I can't help but think they would've been even more effective if the idea hadn't been used to death already.
Anyway, this episode was a good episode. The little scenes with goblins living their lives like any other human being made the following fight scene that much more impactful. I just regret that all the budget seems to have already been eaten, because visually speaking the action was rather underwhelming (at least compared with what we got in episode 2, for eg.).
Other than that no major complaints; the cemetery scene was pretty touching and the whole sequence with Haru and Mary worked well enough. I'm also glad the romance wasn't forced down our throats just yet, because it would've been way too early for that.

Ah this episode was quite good. It brought me feels although I had to remember the past from LN to fully enjoy it but whatever I am no longer planning to hate on this anime.

Now I wonder where they will go with the rest of the show. This episode marks the last chapter of volume one. For full volume 2 there is not enough time. Any news about anime original ending?

do you realize they've been fighting goblins for more than 50% of the anime? what level are they and how much experience do goblins give you? wouldn't they be far experienced already by now? how much are those goddamn volunteer medals? what the fuck is grimgar? what timeline are they from before they came to grimgar? what happened to the rest of the other characters that were with them from the start? how long are they going to mourn manato? it's been 8 fucking episodes -- are they going to cry every single time with that depressing insert song in the BG for every episode? how long are we going to keep saying manato is a good guy? can we get over it already? they don't even know the guy or where he's really from. can mary use other defensive magic other than heal? who the fuck is Hal?

these questions are yet to be answered -- GOOD questions with no answers in sight. and we are already on episode 8.

Is it just me.. or is buying a badge and leaving it on the grave a bad idea? I get the deeper meaning of it and blabla.. it just keeps bugging me because literally EVERYONE could just grab it and leave. Since it took them 8 episodes to get the money together: it's worth money at least. or is it something that has a name tag or something? damn you anime I want to know more about the world and how it works. I get that someone dying and having to deal with it is hard, but after 8 episodes I kind of hoped for another plot.

Anyway I wouldn't mind if this was actually the last episode. It got me thinking "wait.. what's with all the credits.. is it episode 12 already?". It seemed like a good ending considering how they had to deal with Manato's death and the world of Grimgar.
Not sure what to expect for the last 4 episodes, but we'll see.

I don't think there will be an anime original ending, since they can make this a really successful anime franchise. It only picks up the pace from Vol. 2 onward. We get different enemies, alot more backstory, intensity is picked up, huge fights (like mini-skirmishes, but big enough). They would be dumb to give us Vol. 1 and part of Vol. 2 and not adapt the best part of the LN which is past Vol. 2's second half. Unless they are doing this completely for the advertising of the LN which I think this part of the Volumes adaptation wouldn't really do a good job of advertising it, since the beginning is extremely slow paced (for people who don't like that). I like to hope they would adapt all the Volumes being released, since they have lots of good ideas going on from the 2nd half of Vol. 2 all the way up to Vol. 6 (what I know of so far). It would be a shame not to adapt them.

this anime has reached a difference level than the rest action-fantasy genre
the scene of the Goblins were masterpiece for me, it depicted how Goblins are not simple-minded monsters they are creature who can think and make strategy
as Haruhiro noted these Goblins completely know the human tactic.
the level of Grimgar is close to Monster Hunter and Dark Soul for me
i would love to see in the future a tactic to use elementary weapons against monters with their own respective weaknessess (like Monster hunter)

You know what's better than 10 minutes music video? That's right, it's 20 minutes music video.
It's not that it ruined the the mood or shit, but the song was bad, who the fuck would pay to listen to that shit? Except for those whose on drug.

And for the love of mother, stop with manatoism!! Goddamn that bunch worshiped the good guy, we get it, you're sad! You didn't even mourn that much for your family you left in japan, it doesn't make sense...

Have they explain in the novel how did they enter this world? Is this just a game or something more?
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

Wow, such fail.
This is their final farewell to Manato, by offering the badge to him.

Why would they mourn their family? They don't know if they're dead. Heck, they don't even know if they even had a family. Okay sure, they could have a mom or dad, but again why would they mourn?

yes. real life doesnt work like a game, even if they are in a game that only simulates real life. here is a good question: dont you think an experience point system would defeat the realism of the plot? they are human teenagers imbued with japanese cultural values. 20 silvers. the world they are in is called grimgar. went off with team renji. youre not supposed to know because the characters dont know; take a guess though. you say you understand that "death sucks" yet you cant sympathize with the grief of others, i doubt youve actually learned anything. also manato died in episode 4, its only been four episodes of mourning idk what youre talking about. that song was literally the ed idk what youre talking about. well he was, youre nitpicking at this point. she can use smash and though thats not a spell youll see more later. hal is a mistranslation of mary calling haruhiro haru since hal and haru in japanese would be pronounced the same. consequently its not the animes fault its the translators. none of these questions were good and they had answers, contrary to what you claimed...

That was a good episode, The action was fluid and really nice to watch.
I however didn't like the fact they used an insert song for the battle,Felt out of place to me. The second insert was great :D

Finally,I sincerely hope this marks the end of Grimgar:Goblinland . I really hope we get to see some new foes like that Kobold they gave a sneak peak at. Tired of seeing them kills goblins all the time :P

Mary looked really pretty when she was walking with Haru amidst the snow, She was cute at the end too <3

Graveyard and afterword drama takes up half the ep. hittin the forums b4 ep is even over cuz i lost interest.
Ugh and that next ep preview. I'd rather them skip a few months than have another episode about chillaxing.
So I'm assuming they 'graduated' from goblins and are moving on? Or are they going to go the extra mile and make goblins extinct. Sounds like 100% clearing goblins out of that city so people could re-inhabit it would have some kind of reward? They seem to be known as the goblin slayers now anyway.

Creative! the studio pretty good to pact the vol 1 in 8 episode
pretty good combo of fillers and main story performed by them
i guess they lengthen 3 early episode to gave Manato several screen before killed him off.

btw i wonder if Haruhiro referred Yume or Ranta when corrected the "Malicious" word because his tone was his usual tone to Ranta.

I'm gonna be in the minority and say that this episode was pretty bad. The fight was so trivialized. It meant more in LN and was really exciting to read through. Was so looking forward to this episode, thinking that A-1 would spend a decent amount of time on the fight. That just didn't happen. There wasn't any kind of flow to it. Just a bunch of small action sequences paste together with jump cuts. Also I've never talked about the insert song before, but this time it really ruined the scene. It was the group's revenge battle and it was supposed to be intense, but the music just destroys that.

Stray observations:
-Art quality definitely down this episode.
-Humanizing the goblins. Something I actually like. The humans are shown as the aggressors.
-Volunteer medals are dogtags. Okay... Could be interesting if they were somehow tied the reason for that design to the story. Doubt it though.
-Why is it snowing all of a sudden?
-"Hal" Really going with this, Funi?

other than that, your "answers" are mere observations and doesn't do much justice other than point out the obvious. from the perspective of a viewer who has not read the LN, you've only confused me more than this anime already has.

and no, why would an experience point system ruin the plot? i'm assuming that they are learning these "skills" because they are leveling up, right? you learn skills by gaining experience...right? are you saying that they gain these "skills" randomly?

Was that supposed to be a confession? I must not have been paying much attention because there seemed to be no romance going on at all between them to warrant a sudden love interest making it seem like it came out of no where. Is it just because they faced similar tragedies and shared their stories (albeit one sided)? Is that all it takes?

But other than that, I quite liked it. Like I have mentioned before, I get why people don't like the pacing, saying that it's slow, but I find it to be original, you don't really get fantasy shows that show how heavy things can get.

I feel more sad about the goblins than I do for Manato - one thing I definitely like about this show is how they aren't portrayed as mindless fodder to be killed.

Still, the second half of the episode was almost unbearable. You can make a show as slow as you want, I'm not against that, but when you take up half the episode with recycled content that has, yet again, a "touching" song playing in the background that's where I draw the line. Draw some characters, play a song and expect everything else to sort itself out, even though this would have to be the viewer's first anime for them to be impressed or captivated by that particular sequence. Seriously, how was the latter half of the episode any different from a YouTube AMV?

I still can't decide whether this anime has more good or bad things making it up.

and another thing, its been like i think 4-5 episodes since that guy died? why are they still moaning about it? dont tell me this is why they've been killing goblins non-stop?

This has to be one of the most underrated shows I've ever seen. I mean it can get pretty overdramatic (and it will be), though it's so atmospheric and heavy (not deep, just heavy). I can see why some people wouldn't enjoy it, though I'm loving it so far. I'll say it again: It's exactly what I wanted SAO to be. That said, it's time we get some real conflict - we're 8 episodes in, ffs.

Finally, they avenged Manato's death, those goblins deserved that, and finally, Haru got his dagger back.
When mary got shot by that arrow i was like "oh please not again, she can't die, no more feels pls" xD
Yume & Haru best couple, that roof scene <3
And i still almost cry when they remember Manato, that cemetery scene :(
I'm happy to see that Mary is doing good in her new team and everything is getting even better.

I don't know why there is so much hate around this anime, this isn't SAO or Log Horizon, this anime isn't fight based, that's why it is so good, it's different. I didn't expected so much from this anime but i'm loving it, plus the art and that soundtrack. Makes this anime very unique.
