DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- The Sickness of Abundance: It's interesting to see Shigeru Mizuki observe events without a clear understanding where everything will go. The previous history he was able to create a more clear narrative because cause and effect were easier to identify. This chapter may make better point seeing how involved the Japanese people would be in various incidents that happen in the country and around the world. |
| I don't think there's any sickness of abundance in the sense of the late Showa zeitgeist. People just pay more attention to horrific crimes and scandals because the mass media lets them, and they don't have to worry about starving to death or dying in a war like the younger Mizuki did. And the people who complain of society's sickness and say they'll fix it, like all those cult leaders, can themselves be the sickest criminals. |
