Would you consider late 90s old? I enjoyed Cowboy Bebop.
Speaking of which, I should actually look at your list.

*Looks

I recommend checking out the Logh movie "My Conquest is the Sea of Stars," which will give you an idea of what Logh is like. Then you can decide if you want to watch the 110 episode OVA someday.

hmm, M.D. Geist seems interesting, but i'm not sure if i want to watch it. i'm not a big fan of science fiction

i guess i'm going to watch either Takarajima or Trigun. both seem very fun and enjoyable. also i heard that Takarajima has a fantastic ending which made me want to watch it even more

however, trigun is on xinil's (mal creator) list of favorites lol

i wanted to watch Hajime no Ippo, but i guess i made a mistake by watching Ashita no Joe first

some people told me that both of these animes are kinda similar, but AnJ is better

Trigun was great. Anime & Manga. But in my opinion if you read the manga just leave maximum alone. It really wasn't worth it. Artwork went down and I think the author was bored, Or just needed a paycheck....

When you refer old, I'm assuming dated animation.
-Great Teacher Onizuka
-Trigun
-Cowboy Bebop
-Any Ghibli movie
-This technically started in 2006 but the animation is really bad: Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni.

How?
One it's a heavy drama story about an orphan who just happens to boxing. Joe it's kinda a dick and knows how to mock people.
The other it's a battle manga of guy who happens to have a big amount of power where the sport it's the main focus. Ippo it's a nice guy and kinda dumb.

They aren't similar.

I've never seen Ashita no Joe, but it seems that Hajime no Ippo only shares the boxing part. And if you're a fan of something with great fight scenes Ippo's got you covered, you might not be into it at first since it's a sport anime, but it's one of the only sport anime that I actually enjoy.

Not to put down sports anime.
