The producer behind ’Love, Live’ must have a pretty fat wallet by this point. That franchise keeps on being a top seller no matter what they release. And AKG, well it’s no surprise that they went with an anime original ending. There’s no way they get a second season with those sales figures. |

akame ga kill is selling so bad. It has been proven times and times again that Japanese buyers aren't really interested in things with high death rate and serious fighting, especially without excessive moe or prevailing factors that appeal to them. At least the manga sale for the next volume should increase quite a bit. |

Free! ES v3 sales are are almost as high as SAO2 v1 sales. I'm sure it will come out with a much higher average for the summer. AgK isn't a big manga seller so why would it be a big disc seller? People are doing too much on it. TheNaturalPerm said: bunny1ov3r said: akame ga kill is selling so bad. SnK killed off a lot of people but never killed off main characters. Marco and Potato girl would be dead by now in AgK. |

But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion. http://www.classzone.com/books/lnetwork_gr08/page_build.cfm?content=analyz_media&ch=30 It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist. |

It has been proven times and times again that Japanese buyers aren't really interested in things with high death rate and serious fighting, especially without excessive moe or prevailing factors that appeal to them. At least the manga sale for the next volume should increase quite a bit. It is clear that Akame ga Kill has a fanbase. It is ridiculous to claim that the Japanese do not like things with high death rate and serious fighting, when at least 50k people have bought Vol.10 of the manga. 10 The anime was aired in the midnight time slot on a Monday, which implies it is aimed at the older anime audience. The manga is serialised in a shounen magazine, so what do you expect? This could mean the majority of the fans are teenage males. Teenagers would not be up at 12am watching it, when they should be studying/sleeping! The school culture in Japan is different, they value their education. We haven't seen any boost to the source material (which is the goal of an anime adaptation), but I know Vol.11 is coming out in December, so let's see if it did at least achieve this goal. What we do know right now is that the anime failed to bring in a sizeable number of fans. So where are the buyers of the anime going to come from? What I see here, is that only hardcore fans of Akame ga Kill! who can afford the anime, bought the anime. Anime is very expensive in Japan, so the anime clearly had flaws in it, which is why it ended up selling so poorly. |

If you look at the selling statistics of BD sales many anime that failed to have high sales had constant "death rates, serious fighting, tragic story, minimum moe" Also Akame ga Kill is published by a magazine(Gangan Joker) owned by Square Enix(major company) and Gangan Joker is a very well known magazine publisher in Japan. They are and has published mangas such as "Gugure! Kokkuri-san, Inu x Boku SS, One Week Friends, Dusk Maiden of Amnesia, and many more" |

Gangan Joker is pretty minor magazine I'm certain about that. Having manga adapted into late-night anime does not make it major or well-known manga magazine. Also airing around 0:00 is very good time-slot compared with other late-night anime if they aired major channel. Tokyo MX,BS(business satellite)11 is not major channels and limited viewership regardless of time slot. |

They have exact those sales figures BECAUSE they messed up the adaptation. Roloko said: I haven't read the manga to Akame ga Kill! (I always wait until after the anime is finished) it seems like with Magi I will have to read it from the start if people saying the anime did injustice to the manga. Injustice is way too gentle of a word for what they did. This is more on the level of what Studio DEEN did with 2006 FSN or what BEETRAIN did with Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle adaptation. |

This show had a decent run for like 19 episodes (even according to the majority of mangareaders) and volume 1 had still shit sales. |

Oh god Tsubasa Chronicles those terrible fillers and I heard they left out some arcs as well. It was alright until they skipped the Tokyo arc for shitty filler. Thankfully Production I.G handled it and it was glorious. |

I find that amusing |

I find that amusing It was NEVER faithful to manga. It was skipping stuff like character growth and story information ever since the first episode, not to mention generic-ized art style and toned down, well, everything. Yeah TRC skipped important story arcs, completely changed and generic-ized characterization of ALL the characters, toned down the violence in every single arc and basically decided to turn what is quite dark shonen action show into a fluffy shoujo rehash of CCS. AKG does the similar thing. Changed character designs(for the worse), cut out character development and growth moments(gotta add anime original fanservice after all), cut out story information(like the fact that timeskips happened, etc) and past EP10 or so they outright combined two separate story arcs into one and skipped shitload of content, shitting on every single character in show. Manga is no masterpiece by all means but it was hell of a way better than that. |

And how dare they toned it down by omitting little girls who were raped by dogs and pregnant women who were eaten. Completely ruined characterization, duh. |

67. *1,647 **3,550 Rakuen Tsuihou: Expelled From Paradise ED "EONIAN" by ELISA Disgusting. It should have sold so much more. I'm hoping the recent massive spike in popularity will help it sell more. |

No point arguing whether AgK is good anime because all these are subjective. What makes a good anime are different from each individual unless you are one of those self proclaim elitist and think everyone need to have same taste as you. SAO and Gundam Seed are selling like hot cake and better than most anime but most people in MAL wouldn't call both of those anime masterpiece. Shinsekai Yori anime sales is crap but people still consider it a great anime here in MAL. From sales perspective, things like publicity does help your sales which AgK didn't get much, thus lack of viewership and sales. |
