| Now a lot of people around the world believe the Earth is spherical because Scientists apparently "proved" this and "have pictures" obviously this isn't true cause that can easily be manipulated, plus if you look at the Sea you can see where the Earth ends and drops off where you'll fall if you walk up there. So obviously i think the Earth is flat cause there's already a lot of proof just by looking around. do you think its flat or spherical? can you prove the Earth is spherical if so? discuss |

| The Earth is definitely NOT flat. Whether it's spherical or not is an argument of semantics. Nonetheless, the world IS round-ish. Proof #1: When you stand atop a light house and view ships sailing into the horizon, the body of the ship disappears first before the mast does. If the world is flat, there should be no such thing as a horizon, and the ship's body should not disappear before its mast does. Proof #2: During lunar eclipses, when the moon moves into the Earth's shadows, we can observe that the earth's shadow's edges are round. Proof #3: the amount of sunlight received at the extreme poles and the equator during both summer and winter are different. This is due to Earth's spherical tilt, which means that the poles during certain times of the year receive no sunlight or only sunlight. Yet, at the equator, the sunrise and sunset times are virtually set for the whole year. This is because the Earth is spherical; if you cut the sphere into different pieces, the circumference of the circle piece near the poles is shorter than the circumference of the circle piece near the equator. If the Earth were flat, there should be no such difference in the amount of sunrise/sunset hours in areas north and south of the equator; all of earth should have the same timezone. Also, I really hope OP is trolling. |
