I would like everyone to approach this thread as if you were going to write a review and structure your initial post like this: Art - insert rating Characters - insert rating Story - insert rating Enjoyment - insert rating Art - discuss any pros and cons of the art styling used in the series, try to include some specifics. Character - describe any of the things you liked or didn't care for in regards to specific characters in the series etc... If you are having trouble writing up a review or coming up with specific pros and cons, please don't worry. Just do the best you can with it and if you can only write two or three sentences about any of the 4 elements then that's OK. Not everyone here is currently at a level which will allow them to articulate their thoughts and opinions. After your initial post is made you can feel free to civilly discuss issues of contention. I am sure there will be many opinions expressed here that some of us will disagree upon and criticise and it is for that reason that this entire club exists. So I hope everyone has fun and I am really looking forward to seeing how this discussion will develop. | One of the first manga I read. And I truly don't remember much of it. I will probably have to abstain, because since I borrowed the manga in the first time I won't be able to re-read it. |

| One of the first manga I read in full and is still one of my favourites. Art - 10/10 Characters - 9/10 Story - 9/10 Enjoyment - 10/10 Art - The art is that absolutely gorgeous old school CLAMP style. The costumes for all of Sakura's escapades with the Clow Cards are simply beautiful. The designs for the Clow Card's themselves are amazing. Characters - I would argue that all of the characters, while yes possibly stereotypical had their place in Cardcaptor Sakura. None of them felt like they were just stuck in there 'because'... All of the characters were loveable and none of them forgettable. Sakura the heroine was absolutely adorable, she doesn't really fall into the crybaby category, like some shojo mains can fall into, but isn't a particularly strong character in the beginning either. It was such a treat to see that she had grown incredibly strong by the end of the 12th volume. Story - This was such a unique story in its time, most card batte series are shounen titles like Yu-Gi-Oh and Duel Masters etc. Making a card battle series that was not only shojo, with elements of magical girl, comedy and romance was just a brilliant idea, that only CLAMP could've pulled off so well. Enjoyment - I loved every single frame of this manga series, from the action packed battle scenes, to the fun comedic scene where Sakura's Dad and Tomoyo's Mum meet at the athletics day, to the are they, or aren't they scenes with Touya and Yuki.... that's not even mentioning all the fangirly scenes with Sakura and Syoran. The only thing I can honestly say I was disappointed with is that it was nowhere near the length of the anime. |
