O...k. I...I really don't want to sound rude here but that synopsis....wow.

But, I'll still give it a chance when it gets a PV.

P.S Sigh, when oh when will I see a real good Light Novel aimed at females get animated? Saiunkoku Monogatari was so good. They don't sell as well as male oriented ones but a few actually do sell and I'm sure they'd get a boost in sales if an anime was made...sigh.

Great! Can't wait. I was kinda expecting it to get an anime adaptation given the type of story if popular nowadays.

"homosexual with a muscle fetish"

Now if that was actually the case that would be interesting but then there would be a problem because they would somehow make him fall in love with a girl. But since that's not the case they're just making a joke out of it again! Hurrah. So much creativity it blows my mind.

You should probably get over it seeing as they won't stop getting adaptations any time soon.

Will probably pass on this. Maybe. Not sure yet.

All that hate towards ecchi harem romcoms...

I know the manga is fun. The MC likes to make fun and tease those naive ojou-samas.
If the comedy is good I'll watch it.

You are right my friend. It's just that this year the only anime that get anime adaptations are ecchi, harem and otome games based shows which makes me "mad" because really good manga don't even have a chance for even a special.

Hope that people who enjoy anime with these genres to enjoy that one.
Cheers~

This sounds utterly repulsive. A bunch of oh so innocent and pwetty girls kidnap a boy, and threaten him with fucking castration if he doesn't do what they say.

That is morally reprehensible, and that's not even mentioning the blatant homophobia. This sounds disgusting.

If you take a look at all the baka-tsuki synopsis you realize that it can get even worse... Never say it can't get worse. I thought the same about SAO before Mahouka came along.

But isn't SAO a lot worse than Mahouka? Or maybe I just think this because I only have to deal with Mahouka on a weekly basis rather than a marathon.

Here's a question for those who have some experience of the series: what are the characters like, aside from the main character?

None of them have any info in their character descriptions.

The main thing that drove me to avoid this series was the fact that I really don't like the typical 'ojou-sama' character archetype...

I've only read the manga version but basically, they are pretty cliche characters. There's a few variety of them and all of them are interested in the MC mainly because of his background (commoner). The main girl wants to do normal things like a commoner would and she learns stuff and blah blah blah.

Some other girls also enter the story with diverse backgrounds but they have "high class". Nothing special at all from what I've seen. The MC is also really blend.

More LN adaptations can only ever be a good thing! Probably the best source for adapting into anime, very, very rare I've seen a bad series based on a LN.

Synopsis sounds interesting to me.

Using the title written in Japanese, this is 23 characters long, excluding punctuation, or 25 including it.

Including the subtitle, the OreGairu OVA is 55 characters long, or 59 with punctuation. And that's before you get to stuff with large amounts of English in the title like Symphogear

Don't call them scum. But yeah, these shows bring in money. Skip Beat did not make enough money for a second season.

Heck, no recent shoujo manga to anime made money. *grinds teeth*

AHEM. Anyway, yeah, these shows sell so they're made. We just have to hope whenever we see a show we like, that it sells in Japan. Nothing else we can do.

The title of this is shorter than "You're the Most Popular Light Novel Author at the All Boy's High School, but you're Being Strangled by your Junior who is also a Voice Actress? 。―Time to Play―"

I read some of the manga and hated it, but then again this was never for me so I don't have anything meaningful to say about it. Still, it seemed really derivative. I would have thought people would go for something a little more creative.

I can't see this selling more than 2.5k, I don't mind (and often like) anime being created specifically for Otaku, but this is just dreadful and it's showing that many novelists aren't even trying anymore to create an immersive LN and the studios are failing to see how bad these adaptations really are and it's showing in the often low BD/DVD sales of many LN adaptations, what we are seeing is the downfall of LN adaptations and the harem genre. The harem genre needs to switch to being primarily anime original then it could thrive again.

Cool.
A shame for all the Baccano's, Jinrui's, Kino no Tabi's and Uchouten Kazoku's that just wait to be discovered by the Western crowd, but if it means this flood of bad material has an end I won't mind seeing some of them gone.

It's less bad material and more oversaturation of the same premises. There is no reason why there hasn't been an elder sister LN adaptation ever and all this school setting stuff needs to go, I want a different setting than a school or academy such as a male orientated version of Free set at the beach and the females are all Coast Guard or just lifeguards and an mc that lives right (none of this allergy to women stuff).

End of LN adaptations?

More like a LN publisher that has historically not bothered with anime adaptations jumping onto that bandwagon - so quite the opposite.

For the most part, Ichijinsha bunko publishes single volume light novel series, which aren't really suitable for adaptations, and game spin-offs whereby any adaptation would be of the original game - which is probably part of the reason for the total absence of anime adaptations of their series in the past. This series is the second longest published under the label.

I didn't say the end of LN adaptations, I just said the downfall of them. That's very nice to know Ichijinsha Bunko hasn't had any other LN adaptations as it's showing with something like this being adapted into anime, I just think it was a pretty poor choice given the saturation of the genre in the LN market and they probably should've adapted the longest running LN they had (I don't know what that novel is but it can't be nearly as bad as this much less worse).
