Find another one. If you want to stop the spree, turn to a lowly rated anime watch it and drop it half way. You won't feel as bad.

I watch a cute girls show or harem.
That will lower my expectations for the next show and fill the void.

I can see you

I always tried to cope with this feeling when I finished a good video game by looking up internet forums, so I could find other people that loved and were enthusiastic about what I'd experienced just like I was and we could share the feeling of enjoyment with each other. This is especially true for anime because I don't really have anyone in real life that I can talk to about Fate/Zero and Madoka. This feels like such a farce to me now. It's like the only thing we talk about on this website is how overrated/underrated anime are, how to judge anime quality, which show has the best/worst X. I've been posting here for a year and I can't remember any time where I was able to have a conversation with someone about Madoka that wasn't an argument about whether or not it was overrated, or whether or not the characters were shit. I think I've become such a ruthless asshole here and this place feels so depressing.
So the answer is I don't know.

I try finding another anime similar to it, but then I can't get into said show cause I keep comparing it to the other one. So I've tried to stop doing that and instead I watch an anime of a different genre or something.

I usually spend a week thinking about the anime, looking up stuff related to it until i feel like i had too much of it (or I just play league of legends) then I just try to find a new series.

I get post-anime depression pretty frequently, or with any kind of TV series or novels that I enjoyed, really. I usually spend a few days reminiscing on it before moving on. Lighthearted stuff like K-ON! seems to help. Watching cute girls doing cute things is a nice remedy.

This, or immediately/desperately try to find myself an anime of equal value to try and not get depressed

Apparently your good, they have all been locked.

Anywhom, I just pick up another and pray it will be good. I also usually make sure to have a list of manga/anime lined up next so that when I finish one I don't have to spend time moping around while looking for a new one. When I first started watching anime though, I did get sad after finishing nearly every series I watched and would always google search if there would be a season 2. Now every so often I run in to a short story in manga where I'll be saddened that it was a short story and not a full fledged series, but then I just remind myself it probably would have been bad if it was stretched out and move on.

A few ways I cope with it. I find similar series and try to enjoy it to the same degree, I try the manga/light novels and see if they are any good, or I watch something else until a second season or adaptation is released (worst case scenario with this last one is eventually just re watch the original anime I am trying to compare things to).

I don't. After binge watching Naruto in one week and a half I was left with a feeling of emptiness for about a month. I could'nt live with myself, so I rewatched it and then I read all of the manga. So no I can't cope with it.

I'm not sure if these replies are a joke or not but seriously, is it okay for an anime series to affect you so much so that it effects you when not watching it?

I sometimes would re-watch it( depends really), or watch a different series... Sometimes, I would just lay in my bed, and just sleep/take a nap.
Or either read doujinshi/orignal, which is what I used to do, but I stopped now... Though I'll read again, but will likely be when my Ikariam account is not ban...

I don't get PAD, instead I feel accomplishment at having finished something. It feels good....well unless the show I was watching was actually depressing in tone, then I'd feel bad after finishing it.
