Nice, Kimi ni Todoke at rank 1 this week, well deserved. Also good to see Kagerou Days up there. I wonder how the ranking will influence once the anime debuts. Problem Children in the top 10 for LN this week too. Season 2 when

Copied over from my post in LNDB forums (with a few things modified or removed):

Kagerou days 5 gets slightly more sales than the last one's first week, in one fewer days as well I think.

Date A Live 10 has already overtaken volume 9's sales. Volume 8 sold 83k, though, over 4 weeks. It'll be tough to beat that, although if the airing of the second season boosts its sales enough it could well do it.

Shuuen no Shiori Shuumatsu comes from nowhere to get a 21161 second week.

Mondaiji-tachi volume 9 sells 16301 in 2 days. Previous volume (which was a short stories collection) sold 23k in 4 days, the last part of the official series having done 30k in 5.

Biblia has almost stabilised in its weekly sales.

Mahou Sensou 8 is fully 50% higher than its previous listed best.

OniAi 11 gains 8509 to 14684 second week. That's more than 20% below volume 10's sales after the same number of days, which itself was a huge drop on volume 9's sales (volume 9, incidentally, sold more copies in week 1 than volume 11 has from its first two weeks). Ouch.

Kagerou days vols 1, 3 and 4 reenter the rankings with volume 5's release. Incidentally, volume 1 'overtakes' biblia 5's sales. In quotation marks as it would never have actually been below in the first place, of course.

Not to mention, that this is part 8, and not part 1 which he dropped.

What's up with this unusual titles topping the sales for MF Bunko J.
Are they going back to the more dark tones ? Less harem-ish.

Anyway, glad both JJL and Uchuu Kyoudai do well.

Thank you, I adjusted it accordingly for the time being.
I'll have another mod confirm it, as I'm not in charge of the LN list.

That's just how most old school shounen battle manga look like. Over the top GARness, shouting their techniques on every single occasions, and overly muscular male characters (think of Fist of the North Star and Dragonball Z). And Jojo is basically written with those things in mind. If someone goes in expecting ultra-grounded, sophisticated stuff a-la Fate/Zero then he/she will be thoroughly disappointed. But if you read it for what it is and didn't think too much, it's an immensely entertaining series.

Good point. Pat yourself on the back. I understand you're just using dbz as an example, but please don't compare them. No, no.

It's Miley cyrus, sir. Stop with the troll excuse. I genuinely don't like the series. I was very shock to see it selling so well which prompt me to make that comment. If you don't like my comment simple ignore it. Than rather make an excuse.

Not really from nowhere, the cumulative sales are comparable to the previous volume's sales. If you look at all the other MF Bunko J releases like Migakura, Asterisk, Absolute Duo, Mahou Sensou or OniAi you will see that they all have higher sales than what they sold last week. That's because MF Bunko J light novels are officially released on the 25th but Oricon always has sales data for the few days before, so if a week ends just before the 25th (like last week) the novels will have weaker sales for the first week and stronger sales for the second week.

Sure, but other than Mikagura, all the others had sales slightly above (as in less than 50% higher) last week's sales. Shuuen no Shiori Shuumatsu's was more than 150% higher. They all have the same release date.

It was this that I was commenting on (and the connected fact that I didn't even notice it was on last weeks rankings until this week's came out), rather than the actual physical sales number compared with previous volumes, which is indeed about what one would expect.

The one in October was a collection of short stories, though, and not an official part of the series. It's standard practice in series that have numbered volumes to not include such volumes in the numbering, or to give them x.5 style volume numbers. Except this time there aren't any numbers in the title to make things clear.

And as you know it's also standard practice to number them with the rest. like you said, just like baccano for example, there isn't any number in mondaiji series. However, the last volume wasn't the only one with short stories (volume 8 was half main story and half short stories; so they clearly ARE putting them together with the main volumes ) so ImO the point of excluding them is kinda moot this time.
