| Do you get to see the main menu when you start up School Days? Do you get sound? If you're able to start the game and move your cursor towards the top of the window, do you get a control panel? If so, can you try to fast forward till the next chapter and see if anything changes? About SPs........you should be able to get them at microsoft.com.......but I can't imagine you don't have a single SP installed. :S |

| Finally finished downloading. It took me about a month too but now I'm seeding so maybe that will help out some people. Anyway, it took me a while to figure out how to mount it. (.mds file, how stupid am I) I'm installing update patches now. I've already started playing it and it works fine so far so I don't know what all the updates are for. I know one adds japanese subs (which don't help me much) and one (update_sd104) contains replacement files but I don't know if I should use them now that I've installed the other patches. Edit: dual_inline said: I think it's just an update and no dvd patch. I don't think they have finished the translation yet. I have run the game and it goes smoothly, I don't know how to patch the 184kb file from sekai project. It is the translation. Can anyone help me? XD It would be nice if someone would write a FAQ about how to install the game and patches. |

| Although I can't read Japanese, from what I've played so far it seems like the game is divided into "episodes" like the anime and you have to try to win over one of the two girls in each. It seems like they tried to make it as much like an anime as possible. It even has opening and ending credits for each one. I'm guesing from that that all the ending scenarios probably occur at the same time (as in the same episode number). I don't know any of this for sure though but so far I'm going for Kotonoha so I'll see what happens and post my results. ^_^ |

| Alright! The download an the installation are done. I tried to start the game (i didn't know that the main menue allready english is O.o') but it's just a black screen after i start a new game. So i used Boursk trick but this wont work. Now i download the translation and hope this is the solution but i'm free and thankful for any other proposals X) |

| I have a problem: http://www.imagebee.net/images/k70rp8nkgj0sjw2fzxs.jpg It's just taken me (according to uTorrent) 1 day and 7 hours to complete this download, and I've used up 15GB of my download limit due to the uploading uTorrent does too. I can't afford to re-download this, so is there any way I can fix it? Thanks. Also, will PowerISO work in place of Alcohol 120%? I hate installing new programs I'll never use, but if there's no other way, it'll be alright. :) |

| Try using 7-zip, otherwise I don't know what to tell you except re-download. Maybe try a different source next time. BTW, I see you got the Vista-theme-on-XP thing going on. I did that on my old laptop since it wasn't quite capable of running vista. Also, where did you get that bar thing at the top? I love the Vista look, but I don't actually like Vista itself. :) As for the dock, Google RocketDock. It's basically a program that emulates the dock found on Mac computers. You can get custom icon packs and everything, it's pretty cool. |

As far as a solution, I don't know what to tell you except make sure anything installed has been uninstalled and then try again (maybe with administrator privileges and Japanese locale which it looks like you had) or you may have downloaded a bad copy (forgive me if you actually bought the game) in which case you may try re-downloading or downloading from a different source. There is also the possibility that my guess is completely wrong. |

| Anytime you play Japanese games it's probably best to run them in Japanese locale for best compatibility. You can accomplish this in one of two ways: You can change the system locale to Japanese in Regional and Language options or (probably best) run the program under Microsoft AppLocale. To use AppLocale in Vista: Download Microsoft AppLocale from http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/tools/apploc.mspx. It says XP/Server 2003 but it will work in Vista. Follow the instructions here to install in Vista: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/05/26/workaround-to-install-microsoft-applocale-utility-in-windows-vista/ Download this: http://alcahest.club.fr/perso/apploc/localejaptoexecontext.zip to install a context menu shortcut for AppLocale. This will allow you to right click the game icon and select "Locale Japanese". |

To install the context menu shortcut (.reg file): You either double click the install .reg file or right click and click install, I don't remember. Or if you want to try it without AppLocale just double click the icon. If something goes wrong you can always mess around with administrator privileges and/or compatibility modes. (It's been so long since I've played this I can't remember exactly how I got it working) About AppLocale: This may sound a little redundant but I don't care. Anytime you want to run a Japanese program it's a good idea to use Applocale. All it does is makes the program display Japanese correctly (instead of jumbled up Latin letters) and possibly makes it more compatible so it won't crash as easily. AppLocale isn't just for Japanese though. It's for any foreign language program that you want to use in an English environment. To use it with programs of other languages, open AppLocale first by doing the following: Click Start>All Programs>Microsoft AppLocale>AppLocale Click Next, select Launch an application, click browse, navigate to the program you want to open, click open, click next, select the language of the program, click next, click finish. That's it, if it's a Japanese program, just use the context menu. If it's any other language, open the AppLocale program. Hope I helped in some way. |
