While this Ep was really good, it felt empty compared with previous episodes.

More questions were given answers, but I still don't known why SHIKI died...

Didn't know Touka was a magi, that's interesting! I could only think in Fate/Zero jaja.

Wow, two whole years... This Kokutou is crazy for her...

Meh, This film yields nothing and became blander than the second movie. Shiki's a real boring character, and I hated to see her talk, or complain about life. Feels like she's having her teenage angst while having menstruation.

Light novels just don't really appeal to me. Filled with emotional adolescents basking on their woes.

And always following the pattern, which indicates the sequence of events, it arrives after the second film in the series to this here: the events run off in a linear manner and without inconsistencies, and at the same time, if you happened to see the first movie by case, recounted situations, they begin to find a meaning. Narratively, it seems slower and thoughtful among the films seen so far; and dreamlike. The spectacular nature of the graphics, it is a little set aside, but that does not mean the seabed and the quality of the drawings, it has declined. The soundtrack, remains an excellent element: very catchy.

Hey, that's Kotomine at the end! lol
much rejoicing

Theres something I don't understand
What did she meant when Touko said SHIKI died? How did a personality died?
Was it when Shiki got run over? When that happened, was she SHIKI the male personality or Shiki the female personality?

Also, Shiki getting the mystic eyes, how did this happen? was she like destined to have this power or something gave it to her or it just awakened after the accident?

If this is explained in the next movies nevermind these questions

As the "dream" sequences would imply, the male personality SHIKI died while the female personality survived. While the full details won't be revealed yet until the 7th film, it's implied that Shiki was caught in an accident that nearly killed her.

Due to Shiki undergoing a near-death experience, she was able to witness the root/origin of everything. Because she nearly died, there was period of time when her soul floated on the boundary of life/death. Waking up and recovering from her coma, she's able to perceive the lines of mortality in every single being (living or not living) which is what allows her to "kill" anything by simply tracing the lines that she sees with her eyes.

It's why it's called the "Mystic Eyes of Death Perception", because it literally allows her to perceive the death in things. I hope that helped! ^_^

Mages....is this connected to the Fate universe? Cause I saw someone who looks real familiar in the next movie preview, which looks nuts btw.

So we got some more background info but no real explanation as to what happened to SHIKI and how these powers came to be.

Still gets a 7/10 for me though.

Certainly better part of Shiki's two-movies-long backstory, but I can't say I was that engaged, especially during first 20 minutes or so. Thankfully, the latter half was better, especially getting to witness how Shiki became such a badass! She looked so beautiful with long hair, but for some reason I prefer her with shorter haircut... maybe because she looks so damn cool with it lol.

One thing I still don't get, why does she sometimes use "ore" and other time "watashi" while talking about herself - at first I thought it was connected to SHIKI's personality, but if he's "dead" or whatever, why does she continue to switch between these two pronouns @_@

That guy in the post-credit scene reminded me TOO MUCH of Kotomine, but I love how they included cameos of two other girls from previous movies - Kirie and Fujino <3

Btw once again - picking Kalafina for singing each KnK ending was THE BEST DECISION EVER, I love every single of them, and the lyrics are always so fitting! "Aria" from this movie is probably my second favourite so far, right after "Oblivious". Can't wait to listen to the rest of them :3

You're actually correct. She uses "ore" and "watashi" depending on her personality but when the masculine personality "SHIKI" died, she adopted "ore" as her predominant pronoun as means of keeping the memory of "SHIKI" alive.

I was also wondering "if the macho-Shiki died, why does she still talk like a dude?".

What was the masculine SHIKI? Why did she want to "kill" him? And why does she now still want to keep his memory alive?

kill male shiki? she didn't, and idk what gave you that idea

all you need to know right now is that Shiki got involved in a traffic accident, and due to that, male Shiki died and she found herself in the hospital, the details regarding that traffic accident will be revealed in the other movies

although, the movies can be confusing due to ufotable cutting out character monologues and intentionally making everything vague, if this series interests you enough and you aren't against reading, I would recommend switching to the LNs instead

Touko does mention in the first movie that her building is surrounded by a barrier to repel people, and Kokutou got interested in finding her because he saw one of her dolls during an exhibition and it reminded him of Shiki

he was able to track down Touko's location despite the fact that she doesn't leave much info behind her and the bounded field was giving him trouble, which is what's impressive about it.

since Kokutou was able to find her, Touko said that he had a talent for searching and hired him because of that

Compared to the previous three, this one has less thriller. Nevertheless, it was fun.

The last three minutes were interesting, For a second I thought Souren Araya was Kirei Kotomine XD, I mean they look similar from behind, They have the same voice actor (Jouji Nakata). I guess studio ufotable did this as a Joke.

I guess this Souren Araya is the main antagonist, since he's responsible for the events in the 1st and 3rd movies. I am looking forward to the rest.

So this one is right after that 2nd movie chronologically, and then comes the third one and the first one if I'm right. And certainly this one answered most of the questions which were needed to be, like the whole 2 year timeskip thing, about those eyes of death perception Shiki has and the obvious how some of the past events before this movie weren't matching.

Also that preview of next part does raised the stakes. 8/10 for this one too.

This movie takes place two years after the accident of the 2nd movie but before the events of 1st movie. It shows how she got her powers and what her powers are. A very good way to showcase her powers. These movies wouldnt have been as interesting if the order was linear. This order is far more interesting.

I watched Demon slayer and fate first and I always used to hear how the soundtrack and the music in the Kny ED was similar to the ones in Knk. Now I have finally realized why they said so.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

We get to see the aftermath of Chapter 2 and with it, quite a deep dive into Shiki and her backstory with this Chapter being centred around her recovery. After having her surgery she experienced death and that's what caused her to have her Mystic Eyes. Also pretty nice to know more about how they function, they allow her to actually touch death itself as well as seeing the seams of living things around her.

And of course, after watching this Chapter i have a ton of new questions.
So what caused Shiki to even go into a coma? The final moments we see from Movie 2 is her about to murder Kokutou before it cuts. It seems they had to perform brain surgery on her and after this SHIKI who is apparently a he according to Shiki has left, but still what is he?
I might be dumb, but it is now just Shiki's personality left, and not SHIKI's? Cus from her time of reawakening, Touko kept referring to Shiki as "hollow" inside and especially her heart, and told Kokutou that she'd probably not remember him due to memory loss(?) and he just needs to be the same around her as before, so that just makes me wonder if Shiki also lost a chunk of her personality.
I'm also questioning whether i actually know how to tell the two Shiki's apart from one another, cus at the end Shiki asks if Touko's job will allow her to kill since that's all she's got which i thought was more close to SHIKI's nature. To add to this, some of Shiki's dialogue she often to refers to humans and how lonely this world is as if she was a new being given a body and fully experience the open world for the first time, but that might be a stretch.
This might be answered in a future Chapter, but does that doll Touko has that Kokutou was by that also kinda resemble Shiki have any significance? Or just like a symbolism and coincidence it looks like her?

Taking what i do understand from this Chapter and what i already understood from previous chapters, i think i kinda have a better understanding of Shiki's character and personality? If i haven't completely confused myself, this Chapter did a good job at showing that Shiki was struggling to find a meaning in life thus walking a tight rope between struggling to find meaning in life and wanting to die but being to scared to after experiencing how lonely it was. Overall, i'll probably have to do my own research to what actually happened to Shiki and who she is now, but still felt like a good character focused Chapter.

The post credits ending as well was pretty wild for a cliff-hanger. So there's actually a third party Magus that's been giving people these powers? Damn, and i thought i understood pretty well the lead up and cause to Fujino getting her powers, but now i'm starting to question myself more.

Besides from that visually the movie itself was great, well animated and consistent even though there wasn't as much action, some scenes were still visually impressive, like Shiki falling into that void at the start of the movie felt really mesmerising to me. OST was great this Chapter, honestly don't think a single chapter so far hasn't had a banger OST with it. Voice acting was again also very great.

When it cuts , you can very clearly hear the sound of a car moving forward.
Implied accident , but you'll have the definitive answer in Movie 7.

Yes.
That's why she's lonely and depressed.

Dunno how it's in English subs , but French subs did a good job at handling him/her for the 2 personalities , so it's easier to follow. (And there is also the Japanese voice acting , with both Shikis talking differently.)

It's a coincidence that Touko created a doll that looks like Shiki , but it's also meant to be a symbolism.
Kokuto saw the doll in an exposition sometimes after the events of Movie 4 , and "fell in love with it". That's why he asked to work with Touko.
But it's hard to not see a symbolism to how Kokuto see Shiki , and how Shiki really is. (Especially after watching Movie 4 , you should see that Shiki feels like a lifeless doll.)
