I know right?! Try Barakamon as well if you haven't already. I just finished watching the 2nd episode and it's also funny in a great heartwarming way.

I tried, since a bunch of other people have rec'd it to me. And I realize it's supposed to have an awesome story and all, but...

I normally don't care about art styles in anime one bit, and care only about character development and plot, with one exeption. Wideface.

I just can't take it. It constantly pulls me out of the story whenever I look at them. It's impossible to take seriously for me when every character is wearing a permanent derp expression. I might push through one day, just because it's such an influential show, but not now I think.

Do you guys have anything like that, something that is an instant turn-off if it pops up in a show?

If you liked KlKs art, NGNL is a good next pick. I had to watch most episodes of NGNL twice because I spent the first time just drooling at the super rich colors and impressive designs.

I usually do not have peeves when it comes to shows but I really hate it when certain anime try to use explanations and it ends up being total bs. To give an example I watched Rail wars episode 2 (spoiler if you still want to see it) and

Started Coppelion some days ago, looks quite average post-apocalyptic anime.

What I should start next.... Sankarea, Bakuman or Kuroko no Basket? Hmmm...

Sankarea is pretty short, and if you get into it will seem over even faster than it is.

Bakuman I read as a manga, but it was awesome so maybe I'll watch that next too?

Just finished Guilty Crown. Must say, it is not bad but it has many flaws. I liked Inori a lot, but the second part turned me off most of the time. The ending is okay, but not superb. Fine Art but overhyped, if you ask me.

So...whats next? I just realised I am buying too many DVDs....maybe I should start watching the shows I still have unpacked standing around :D Penguindrum maybe?

Pengindrum is great if you can get through some of the cringey moments but other than that, it pretty much has a great story that uses a lot of symbolism.

Haha, that is unfortunate. I personally can't watch anything with low quality audio. It does not matter how good everything else is, if the audio is bad I won't be able to enjoy it.

Damn, I don't even want to know how much money I have spend for the manga.... hundreds of euros at least...

My anime nonos (not necessarily a rejection 100% of the time, but almost):

-Cannot find a subbed version. I will under almost no circumstance watched dubbed anime.

-Anime has a weak plot or no arcs. i.e. it's episodic. I can do episodic, but it's hard. I try my best to avoid those types of shows. I couldn't even finish Gintama. (I tried...twice!)

I like dubs better, personally, as long as they are good. It means I can multi-task while watching because I don't have to stare at the captions. Redline, Gurren Lagann, Big O, etc. Whereas with shows whose dub quality are the likes of Trigun or R.O.D., I prefer the subs.

I can't watch episodic either. I have a bunch of friends who live for The Five Tiger Anime, but I quit any anime that has even one episode of filler unless they are otherwise amazing.

I will submit that the ability to multitask while watching anime (dubs) is appealing. But ultimately I appreciate shows a whole lot more if I don't split my focus, so subs help with that aspect. Plus I just strongly prefer the Japanese seiyuu.

I can tolerate both subs and dubs. As long as the quality of the dub is superior which is rare. But even though it's dubbed I still prefer watching without doing anything else since it usually adds to the overall mood and feel of the show.

Sadly I don't often have a choice. I only get one day off a week so when I sit down finally the choice is usually:

1. Watch anime?
2. Play vidya?

Even though subs are undoubtedly better 98% of the time, dubs allow me to pick both options and maximize my free time like a BAWS. Eg. I beat all of Dark Souls while watching Angel Beats. I suffered terribly through that one, but it was worth it because it would have taken me a month or more to do both separately. Also happens to be why I prefer short series, because if they are too long I often forget half the plot before I can get in another binge session :P

I do get what you mean here though. When I am really busy I try my best to just watch an episode a day. Works for me at least.

Aw man, I wish I could thumb up posts here.

That's actually a bit impressive to have beaten dark souls while watching angel beats....assuming you remember the plot of angel beats.

I've multitasked some anime, but then I realize that I'm not actually enjoying them, just kind of treating them like ambiance television like the food channel. So I try to not split focus. I actually realized the same thing about video games, so I try not to multitask during those either.

Multi tasking is kind of like "grind mode" for me. I get the most amount of stuff done in the most efficient manner yes. But I feel like I sacrifice something for it.

Oh, the exception for me would be rewatching/replaying.
