Tsukasa Nishino (西野つかさ)
Her idol-caliber face, fair hair, and straightforward personality make her very popular at school. With her looks, she attracts literally dozens of admirers but turns down each and every one. Flighty and hot-tempered at the start of the manga, she develops a far more mature attitude after entering Oumi Academy. She works part-time in a French pastry shop. Her dream is to study pastry-making further in France after high school. While she is Manaka's first (and only) official girlfriend, she is forced to break up with him a couple of times. She initiates the first breakup because she can't stand Manaka's apparent lack of interest in their relationship. Towards the end of the manga, she and Manaka get back together, only to break up again to pursue their respective dreams. The two reunite four years later, after her return from France. Associated with the West ("Nishi").

lol the fateful encounter at the beginning of the manga...It was a love at first sight...
but lol it end it up this way...I feel so sorry for Toujo though, a bitter sweet ending infact...I she would have been a little bit honest with her self from the middle of the story they would have ended up together, it's a little of her fault..well we cant blame her for it anyway..shyness is just one of japanese peoples personality...they have high respects for each other..even to the point of being highly shy about something.
But if she did looked back back then, I think Manaka would have chose her. Well there's no point in regret things now that the series just ended.

wouldve been nice if he added alternative endings for each girl.

I would totally love to see alternate endings though. . .but the author emphasize
greatly on the side stories instead.

7/10

but if the anime ever gets a sequel, i'm hoping that It will be an Aya Toujo endind
sorry for the Nishino fans for me saying this, but i really hope if there's a sequel to the ending I hope they'll give it to aya she deserves this. . .

A mixed bag for me to be honest. It dragged on for too long and became repetitive at points. The author could have done this with about half the chapters. Characters like Kozue and Chinami were absolutely pointless and feel like filler. It was all about the main 3 girls all along. I must admit that I felt Satsuki was badly treated by the author ( a hostess and single? At least let her end up with a guy or another career). I suppose being sexy and assertive in Japan is considered unfeminine or something.

I read and completed this manga long ago, maybe about 8-9 years ago and thought I had it in my list already but apparently not. Only came into this side of MAL through some related series link jumping haha.

This series is still memorable to me mainly because of how it ended. I'm not a big romance genre guy but reading Ichigo 100% back then was interesting and how most of these series usually go about I figured Aya would be picked.

There was some issues with reused situations towards the middle but the series got surprisingly more realistic towards the end and highly engaging to read. Satsuki was my favorite girl of the 3 as she was assertive, straight-forward and had less BS surrounding her confessions but she got shot down way too much and it was hard to keep reading at times seeing her rejected so harshly. The Aya confession and rejection during the final moments was such a shocker due to way most other series go about relationships but it was also beautifully done. Nishino getting with Junpei didn't seem so fartetch towards the end due to the way she supported him but also pursue her owns dreams, just enough to be interesting to challenge Junpei and push him forward.

The final reunion was nice and bittersweet (as you get older high school/college days becomes more nostalgic) even though seeing Satsuki in "forever alone" status was a little disappointing. In the end it showed that Junpei had a very strong bond with all his friends and even with Aya not being the chosen girl the type bond between her and Junpei is something most people in life strive to have with another.

Overall it's was a good read.

I'm glad I equally liked Tsukasa and Aya but I was a little surprised the author decided a "Tsukasa ending " (she became popular so the author chose her) . Just bullshit that Aya decided to go on another university just because people around her said so. I'm okay with Tsukasa but I'm little disappointed he didn't choose Aya.

I didn't like Tsukasa at first then she grew on me. She deserved to be a happy with Junpei, I like their reunion scene.

I'll rate this 5 cuz I'm annoyed with Junpei most of the time. I was about to rate this 3 but the the last few chapters were good.

Actually it was Tsukasa fans who stick to the series until the end, most of fans already jump into other romance manga. And without the ending, Im 100% sure that people already forgot that ichigo 100% ever exist.

Best girl won, and she actually deserved it.
I mean come on, Nishino confessed to him the same way that Manaka did to her in the beginning of the story. Aya did not do anything like that.

Ah, finally finished this after two days of binge-reading. The author really dragged this manga way too long. There were a lot of unnecessary and boring chapters. The main thing that kept this manga from going is Junpei's indecisiveness. I've seen a lot of indecisive characters in my life but Junpei is probably on the top of my list.

Well it's not a bad manga overall. It was still enjoyable. I especially like that Nishino won but also at the same time I kinda felt bad for the other two, which doesnt happen often. Usually I just care about the girl Im rooting for. But I sure would like to see what would have happened if Toujo or Satsuki won.

After hearing this series for years, I finally have time to read it. I was turned off because of the sheer number of volumes but I think I'll find something interesting, that's what I thought when decided to read it.

I've read Hatsukoi Gentei and Ane Doki, they're better than this in my opinion.

I read somewhere that around the last volumes, manga popularity drop to the bottom. Maybe the readers realized that the story was going nowhere and started to lose interest.
Actually from around the volume 8 I've already lost interest and fast read it till the end. By fast reading it, I can guess what girl will have next problem will have problem with Junpei.

The manga is dragging things too long.
The author just rinse repeat a new problem with little to none to the story development for each girl until the readers became fed up with that.

I've watched Nisekoi before reading this and noticed the resemblance right away. So if you like this kind of thing, you may want to try Nisekoi.

Just finished this manga !

I rushed it and read it in 1 week, primary because it was the only manga that I was reading at the moment.

At first I feel so disappointed that Aya lost, but after thinking, I thought it was for the best, and I think it was as hard for Manaka that it was for the author to make that choice, in the end Aya followed her dream and didn't wrote her stories for Manaka, I thought it was wonderful.

And for the ending, even if my favorite girl didn't win, it still succeeded to bring me tears.

9/10

Sadly the author didn't write other manga as great at this one, I'll still remember it for years :)

Finished this manga some months ago, despite starting to read it in the end of 2010.

Overall, I liked it despite the tone shift in the last volumes (comedy being replaced with loads of drama) and some anti-climax, especially when Junpei and Aya were about of kissing each other or something. I also hated the ending. The story pushed for a Aya ending for a long time. Even Satsuki and Tsukasa thought at some point of the story Aya was the favorite.

I also agree about Kozue and Chinami feeling like "filler characters", especially the former. I don't hate Kozue, but I feel she debuted in the wrong time.

I think a 8/10 is a solid rating for this manga.

First impression after few chapters was not so good - cliched ending with first girl was almost certain. There were also few weak points along the way like many forced fanservice scenes, lacking dialogs, hardly any development around their 2nd and first part of 3rd highschool year, MC and heroines were dodging almost every big plot twist by running away in decisive moments (only Satsuki was trying hard tbh).

Even with all that manga was enjoyable and after it was about to be axed - development pace became much better.

As already noted dialogs were not that great, Manaka took initiative like 5 times, he had some great lines during them. But mostly he was accepting what other person said or was just fantasing about panties and such stuff... It could bring much more what author wanted to show by fixing this point. But in result I think that Manaka x chosen girl was lacking emotional depth.

And one more outcome that would be acceptable by me was that Manaka would be ditched by all girls for various reasons. I really started hating this guy after he was putting all girls in his reserve-zone without picking any of them going wishy-washy...

I created an account just to post about this manga... Also my first time posting stuff like this haha... Kinda weird that it took a youtuber storytime for me to find out about this... But anyway back on topic.

Started reading this around 3 days ago and Ahhh... i'm done... Another manga i need to add to my collection...

Thoughts

Character developments were well paced. I really empathized with the main characters and their personalities really fit their appearances. Really sad for satsuki (fave character out of the heroines) even though she was sexualized to much (probably for the fans) but still compliments her personality. The story went hilarious for me in the beginning then before i realized it i started empathizing them. Ending was... Good... Not great or awesome... Just good. It showed that each of them had set out their own paths for their dreams and no matter how long they are still the film studies club. Btw manakaxsatsuki ship here.

I agree with SuppleTears 100% eaAlso i didn't know there was an anime of this. O.O

As for my rating for this manga I'd go 8/10. Just because satsuki wasn't chosen haha...

Now... Back to the problem at hand... After binge reading and getting absorbed in stories like this... What I am doing with my life...

Ichigo 100% is my first ever manga that I read. It was really my types of manga that I wanted to read. It has given me a Lott of joy reading this manga. However in the end, it didn't bring me up to a satisfaction and left me disappointed instead. As, i dont wish to agree with other people's thoughts saying, "it was a perfect ending or whatever" .
Honestly, the last part of the story totally made my interest lost. But I have my own explanation too.
Yeah, I may say that It was the mistake of Toujou that she didn't make it clear enough to speak out that she was gonna attend that Love Scantuary event with her brother when Amachi (with Manaka beside) asked her who is the guy that she'd be attending that programme with.
And that was the critical time for Manaka because Nishino has already asked him out and on top of that he was thunderstrucked to hear that Toujou is going to attend love scantuary with another guy. (Besides, Manaka without a second thought simply thought that that guy must be Toujou boyfriend). It was a turning point when Manaka saw Nishino at his lowest time because he wanted someone to lean on. (And I won't explain the rest because u know already)
.
Shit, I'm only explaining about the stories without giving my reasons. Sorry hehe..

Anyways, my reasons are simple. Its not because of Toujou great looks that I'm in pain now. But Toujou was the girl whom Manaka 1st realized that sheZ her dream girl that he saw in his dreams. Toujou was the reason that Manaka broke up with Nishino. Besides Toujou was the one in Manaka's mind all time to make his, until he found that she is going out to love scantuary with other guy (whom Manaka thought its Toujou's boyfriend).
Also in the end we could see that Toujou & Manaka was something like linked together, "toujou was not able to write good novel without Manaka support. & Manaka was not able to make good movie without toujou script".
And for all the Nishino fans. I must say Toujou has more feeling towards Manaka because altough Nishino was Manaka girlfriend, Toujou was the one in the story who appeared more in Manaka's life.
.
I thought Nishino and Manaka broke up before Nishino went to Paris in the airport. And I was so happy. But I got it wrong.
.
.
So I'm sorry to say this but Manaka was a shithead after all in the endwith his decision . And I'm a total huge fan of Toujou character BTW. But if u judge my explanations that I'm supporting Toujou due to her physical appearance. Yeah, I'll profoundly say yes to it. But what attracted me the most toward her was her was of personality to handle heavy situations in an easy manner with a smile.

Till the last page of the last chapter I had a little hope that ultimately manaka would go with aya......I decided to give the best rating to the manga....before I saw the gross ending of manaka ending up nishino........really manaka was the worst of all......and yes writer really really really sucked the ending.....the story started with a misunderstanding of nishino being taken as the girl on the roof.....but there was no change even after the misunderstanding was cleared after hundred chapters......I just hated nishino........after the ending of the manga.....it was 💯% understood for me that manaka's character was the worst........nishino really never understood manaka's probs...but always prioritize hers....but aya..was such an innocent character.....she really was the best one...I am just so irritated.........😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡...

I chose to read this manga as i wanted to read a heart-warming and sweet love story. Having read really sad stories right before, I feel robbed, I wanna die.

I put up with all of the clichee and awkward mess, just so i could ultimately see Aya finally have her love reach that damn monkey of an mc that we had to put up with. Other than the beatifull hair the girls had, that was the only thing that kept me from dropping this. I actually enjoyed it a bit until the chapter 30~35, but then all i had to enjoy was the hope of the ending that we were supposed to get. I mean, from the first chapter, this has been the love story between Aya and Junpei.

And i don’t wanna hear about how its more realistic, original, or any lf that kind of nonsense. Half of the manga was about random panty shots and the main character falling onto a girl’s crotch whenever something had to happen in the script. Not to mention the mc changing his feelings based on who he encounters, it’s just ridiculous.
From the start, and throughout the whole story, it was all about Aya finally getting closer, what should have been happening at first ( Aya getting Junpei instead of Tsukasa when he first confesses ) postponed to later, each time, as if in a sadistic madman’s mind that pushes someone off a cliff right before he finishes to climb it.

It would have been fine if it finally ends up as it’s supposed to, it’s a lame but good way to stretch out the story, but that wasn’t the case.
We had everything set, Satsuki had guys she could forget about Junpei with, Tsukasa has the pastry chef, Ookusa, it’s just so unfair at the end, for all of the characters. The relationship with Tsukasa wasn’t serious, and we knew it since the beggining, she knew about Aya, just like Satsuki, and we could litteraly see that she selfishly took Junpei for herself, and we could feel it, she knew that it wasn’t right, that it had to stop at some point.
We had hints of how it *had* to end the whole time, and we still got deceived each time. Tsukasa coming out on top was the thing that *shouldn’t* have happened, and I guess that’s why it did. I could feel it all along, it’s like it just goes deeper and deeper into the abyss, the point of no return. The shining diamond we could see in the early stages kept on getting dimmer and dimmer.

Im really mad at the author for dragging the story for that long, with such a mediocre and clichee story, but yet with such a big hope. Who cares about the pointless fan-service with hundreds of panty shots, predictable and lame twists, but how can you betray the story’s own essense like that? Who cares about originality when you do have such a a story, with its issues and its beauty?

I try to console myself and think that a female author could end up seeing things from different angles, and that over time it would completely shift from a young man romantical ideals but when I remember what our main character actual is, it does’t really make me feel any better.
Coming here with with a wounded heart, I’m now leaving with such a big hole in it, and that bitter-sweet taste in my mouth really is depressing.
Thinking back, all that stuff about novels and movies was pretty sweet, but too bad that we couldn’t know that much more about it though.

Anyways i guess I had to read that, even thought I noted 1/10, Im wondering if I should put it in my favorites. The author’s hair drawing sure were lovely.

Wow.. what a ride.

I first read this manga in 07 when I was in middle school... same age as Junpei was when the story began. I was so captivated by this manga and experienced similar situations as Junpei did. His character resonated with me and I was able to relate my feelings to him, even though he was frustratingly indecisive. Fast forward a decade later, I decide to re-read this again and man, I feel like I'm back in my teens. Although the plot may have been inconsistent, I feel like the ending was done well. Toujou was just too passive throughout the story until it was too late, but Junpei's archetype as the hopelessly dense MC didn't help with the progression of the plot as well. However, now that I'm much older, this is what I remember what young love was like: unpredictable, whimsical, and exciting, and Ichigo 100% portrays this fairly well. After reading this again through a more mature and experienced lens, it's definitely not perfect, but god damn, it holds a very special place in my heart. Thank you Kawashita Sensei. I'll make sure to read this again another decade from now, where I'll be cursing my old age.

Blame Shounen Jump who keep extending the series, even author admit it herself. Due story over extended, story must evolved.

This might be a rare case wherein your run-of-the-mill, indecisive, average-looking yet chick-magnet MC, had chosen without a doubt the best girl from his harem.

I mean, at the end of the day it all really went down between Nishino and Aya, while the other girls were just there to I guess keep stuff interesting. Satsuki is an interesting one because even though she is more fleshed out as a character compared to someone like the loli on the cram school or the imouto, we know for a fact that she still had 0 chance with the MC if their personalities will be considered (her being direct with her feelings and the harem MC with his usual indecisiveness).

Somewhere near the final chapters, I really thought that JunpeixNishino would be over once she fly off to France as now he has an excuse to settle for his second choice which is Aya. Even though Aya deserved to be happy with someone that she loved, I'm glad that the story still went the Nishino route because she had the most romantic development with the MC compared to the other girls. And I would be really pissed off if by any chance he dumps Nishino again with the "he finally realized the one he truly loved" cliche.

No matter how many unnecessary panty shots were there or if you thought he chose the wrong girl at the end, this was still a pretty solid light-hearted, teen romcom in my opinion. And even though there were some stuff that were suddenly forgotten such as Yui during the last one or two volumes, or Junpei not providing a response to Mukai's confession, I still enjoyed the hell out of this manga and consider it one of my favorites.

Not sure I see the point of developing a character like Aya for her to lose in the end but Nishino grew from a random girlfriend into something pretty close.

Dont like how the MC used 2 other girls for so long before making his choice. One never stood a chance and the other was prepared to make sacrifices to study with him at university.

Dont understand how people can criticise Aya for not being forward enough (as if it's a race) but are ok with this guy taking so long to make his mind up and even getting jealous when guys approached the other girls. That's unforgivable. And if being forward is what matters, no one beats Satsuki. I can appreciate how he grew with someone he couldn't even talk to at the beginning and she really started to understand him. But I dont accept writing that leaves 2 characters on standby while mc takes an eternity to sort out his feelings. Why did he compete with Amachi? Why didn't he steer clear of Satsuki like he said he would? You are meant to work these things out before you engage with people, not string everyone along and waste their time while you work out your own indecision. He took some of the best years of their lives away and knew the other two liked him. When he almost kisses Aya in Kyoto, from then on it is decision time. He should only be pursuing one relationship until that one fails or he changes his mind. He always knew he liked two people especially at the same time. His behaviour is totally unreasonable.

Funny enough, Amachi, who is portrayed as a total idiot, at least tried to do the right thing by distancing himself from other girls who liked him and trying to concentrate on the one he liked the most. Seems strange that the author decided to have things turn out this way.

First of all, I ship ManakaxTojou. So this is my first time rambling in forum
Go easy on me senpai. LOL.

In harem genre, indecisive and dense character is a must, but suprisingly Manaka is also spineless one. Also why the girls always need to be the active one in realationship? Yeah I know it’s harem genre, but realisticly speaking, most of the time, male always take the lead initiating realationship. Aya character is SHY, but she didn’t reject Tanaka when something happen, like hugging her or accidental kiss. Usually it could get some slapped, lol. It’s an effort on its own in Aya part since she is shy. Even when Amachi ask Tojou out to swimming pool and meet Manaka, she still choose Manaka more than Amachi.

From half of the story, we know that Manaka likes Tojou too. Even the last 20 chapter, he still strongly likes Tojou. Especially at the last cultural festival. If he could just use his brain a bit more and courage to get close to Tojou. I mean he knows that Aya character is shy, and yet he is also being passive too. Seriously?! You like a girl but you don’t want make an effort for it and hoping a shy girl you like to be active initiating realionship. Again. SERIOUSLYY?!? The annoying part that he is also afraid to be hurt. It could be seen by how shocked and afraid he is when Nishino ask who is the man beside Tojou at cultural festival. I know that no one likes to be hurt but in realationship it’s bound to happen.

Lastly, after Tojou confession, he still choose Nishino based on guilt. I think it’s fine for this part, since he just got back with her. But in real life, that kind of realtionship based on guilt will crumble on its own and hurt each other more. Never go that route. And to be fair, here is Tojou flaw, her timing of confession is very odd, she is giving up so easily, and the irony of fate cause a small misundersand turn into big problem. Without building up any mood, and just go straight to confess. She could just talk a bit about their memory and life goal since she is already determine to confess anyway.

For me it’s a 7.
1 The art is beautiful, especially the girls
2 The story is good
3 There’s some fanservice
4 The twist is good too
5 Likable character
6 Relatable life problem
7 Enjoyable ride

The -3 is for
1st Manaka character
2nd TojouxManaka ship sink
3rd A bit rush at the end

I must say I am really disappointed. This manga could've easily been a masterpiece if it cut out all the unnecessary ecchi and slapstick, sidetracking, and random girls that were thrown in for no real reason. I read this so long ago but I still can't get the core story out of my head. That's how special it was, and yet I only gave it a 6 and still stand by that. If only it had all that extra shit cut out of it.

Man, after 14 years, I have finally started and finished this manga. That was 3 days ago, and my mind still can't rest.

I have no issue with Manaka picking Nishino, given the circumstances and the progression before them, Nishino was the most developed as Manaka's girlfriend.

But really hurts is the fact that Toujou and Manaka was so destined to be together, but due to so many missed opportunities and their unwillingness to open up their feelings to each other, they cannot be together. I mean, they had 2 years at least to work on it, but every opportunity that was presented to them, they squandered it. The scene that got me in the feels the most is the one in chapter 164 where Manaka reminisce their time in middle school talking about Toujou's novel and how they will make it into a movie, the epiphany that if they express their feelings to each other, they would probably be together.

This series, even though got the ending that I think is most justified, still punched me in the gut because of the "what could have been". It's the same feeling of my regrets in life that I can never go back to redo. Looking back in the early chapters, the manga was so full of comedy and light heartedness, I never imagined it would turn into an emotional nuke like this. Damn I wish I can cry, but the feeling of the regret cannot be soothed by crying.

On a side note, I think at least Mukai got a happy ending with Migishima, the guy with the forehead scar. Also, I really would've liked the author to show Yui after the time skip, it felt like she just got thrown to the wayside after her arc with her father. Actually, I think every character except Toujou and Nishino got thrown to the wayside after their respective arcs. Even Satsuki felt pretty irrelevant in the third year.

Also, am I the only one who feels like Manaka kind of failed in life. He took on part time manual labor work. I know he won some award for a film and joined his the alumni's production company, but who knows how far he will go.
