I'm currently confused on what I was seeing on the website where you can watch this episodes. Season 2 contains 28 episodes, and the season 1 contains 14. But here in MAL season 2 contains only 14 episodes. Can someone explain? TIA!

To put it simply, season2 is season1 re-aired in chronological order + new 14 episodes.

Ah I see thanks.. So the 14 episodes are basically the same as in the first season that is just it is aired as different episode in season 2? Right?

Hmm.

How to put it... Those 28 episodes are first season (14 in MAL) + second season (14 in MAL) aired in chronological order. First season contains 14 episodes and Second season contains 14 episodes, in total 28 episodes. In 2009 they re-aired first season together with second season, both in chronological order. I mean, 28 episodes are both seasons altogether. However MAL put both seasons separately.
And then they made movie after the second season.

Hope that makes sense.

yes i think the only difference is that the 2009 is in chronological order

“Evil is created when someone gives up on someone else. It appears when everyone gives up on someone as a lost cause and removes their path to salvation. Once they are cut off from everyone else, they become evil.” -Othinus

Don't do it.

Get the entire set (both seasons combined) and watch it in chronological order (and skip all but the first and last episodes of the endless eight).

Doki has a chronological BD batch, if you're interested. (they did the movie and Haruhi-chan too)

To be more specific:
Watch the 6 plot related episodes then the movie

You should not watch the movie without watching the series. They talk about and bring up things that have happened in the series, and the emotional moments of the movie are moot without prior knowledge.

Watch the show then the movie. For Endless Eight only watch episode 1 and episode 8......there is an episode like 4 or 5 in it, thats explains a little (and i mean little) bit more but it's not all that important and they kind of talk about it in ep 8 anyway.
