the manga has a really high rating so is it because the animation is bad or the great arcs didn't come yet? no spoilers i didn't watch the anime

The anime is a perfect adaptation of the manga. It's just not many people are into vampire stuff, or they find pretty boys interaction uncomfortable, also weebs these days are only into fanservice and Isekai shit.

Manga and novel community are so different than anime. Each genre have they're different cult. That's why there are small amount of manga with super garbage score and a lot have super high score. Meanwhile in anime community, it's like making your relationship public and makes everyone including low intelligence weeb and groups of people that are not fond of certain genres to talk shit as well.

From what I heard from manga readers, this part was just a setup for the story so your second reasoning is possibly correct.

Generally speaking manga is rated better than its anime counterpart on mal simply because thats the nature of adaption. The animation is pretty good and it doesnt derail from the tracks of the manga and this is just the rating of the beginning of the story. There was also a lot more people watching s1 because its seasonal and people like trying out new genres to them. Im sure the ratings with future seasons will improve as arcs progress and the people who dislike the show sift out.

Do you enjoy it? Yes? Then that's all that should matter.

it is against the rule but nowdays threads doesn't block as compare to before,i think mods are also watching some seasonals lol.
Ratings doesn't matter only enjoyment does.
Masterpiece or mid, generic or fresh, best or worst are all subjective
Eren is goat, and aot is still a masterpiece (eg.subjective opinion)

Because the anime is more like an ecchi than shounen. Imagine watching an almost entire episode where the characters are just biting each other for pleasure with moaning and all. Plus the inconsistent animation and art. They cut a lot of scenes too.

because the anime is still in it's early stages.

look at mushoku tensei, 86, or fruits basket.

almost always the first season is not the meat of the story. and almost always, the first season is rated lower than the source, even if it is a good adaptation.

I mean hell, even the first season of attack on titan is rated lower than it's manga, and that show was adapted by wit studio.

I will bet you that the second season will be rated more highly than the manga, if the adaptation stays on the same level that is.

A topic was already created for this question: https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1956358

As previously said, the main points are:
- the anime public is more wide than the manga one (just comparing the number of readers and watchers), so the opinions are more diverse for the anime
- next season will likely have higher scores as people who wasn't convinced by the first part won't likely continue to the next part
