Oh, I forgot to add, it's doubtful I'll be able to add either YKK or KnI but I'll give it a try.

Mostly the type of subject matter the magazine is trying to work in. As I'm not speaking in an official capacity right now I'm afraid I can't get into too much detail.

@StarfleetCpt: Well, in particular, why would it be difficult to work in, and what sort of suggestions would you be looking for? Can you give us the situation in more detail?

And I heartily second or third that comment about the artbook. I have no idea what's in it but I can't imagine that it's anything short of spectacular. Still, probably not $100+ worth of spectacular.

On the Mechademia link--God looking at that... the ending narration of YKK still gets me every single time.

But yeah, with any luck Sasuga will stock the reprints, seeing as they're out of all but 7, 9, 11, and 12 of the original volumes. They haven't updated their stock since early October though, so we'll have to wait and see if they're going to jump on this or not. If nothing else Acclimate Solutions will probably have access to the books now, since they mention on their site that you can request things that aren't in their catalog (they have YKK in the catalog, but as I said they just told me they were out of stock).

I really like what the author has to say about YKK in that book. Makes me want to pick up the book, actually!

I'd also like to hear what that author has to say on the relationship between Alpha and Kokone.

Also, I might have room to put in Kabu no Isaki and YKK into that magazine thing after all, but it'll take a lot of cleverness to work it in. Any suggestions you can have would be welcome!

Brilliant news about the reprinting! I'll definately be looking for ways to import these new editions, as I've only got volumes 1, 8, and 13 of the original ones.

Also, as one member on the forum that Yuunagi posted said; "A new edition of the Art Book would also be nice."
Word couldn't describe my happiness if this were to happen.

Yuunagi | 10-25-09, 2:58 AM
Aye. I also happened to read about it at Old Home Bulletin Board a few weeks ago.

At that same site, I also found out that YKK was featured in Mechademia 3: Limits of the Human. The latter part of the review can be read at Google books. I think this is the second time that YKK has been brought up in a published book.

Good news, everybody! [/Professor Farnsworth]

Well, good news some of you! Namely those of you who don't already own YKK. It's being reprinted! Starting... well, yesterday, actually, volumes 1 and 2 of YKK have been re-released in Japan, with new, possibly even improved covers! I say "possibly" because it's really a matter of preference, though I have to say I like that the colors look a bit more muted. I was never crazy about the first few YKK covers anyway. These are a little reminiscent of Emma's covers, though not quite -that- muted. It's nice.

So hey, as long as these still have the color pages and everything intact (and I see no reason to suspect they wouldn't), maybe Sasuga and such will start carrying (all of) YKK again and it'll actually be possible to buy a copy! Granted Amazon Japan has most of the series for like, 1 yen plus shipping, but shipping from Japan is crazy (also that's from sellers, who may or may not even be willing to ship internationally). Though so is Sasuga's 2x markup, frankly. But that's beside the point, which is that volumes 13 and 14 of YKK have been driven up to something in the $30-40 range, and so theoretically it will now be possible to get them at normal manga-price, whenever the reissue catches up with them.

Oh, and apparently some people are optimistic about the possibility of a translation now that Kodansha now has a US division who are doing Akira and Ghost in the Shell, though seriously, YKK remains unmarketable in this country.

But hey, stranger stuff has happened. I mean, we did get Aura Battler Dunbine, even if it may have put ADV off of licensing old Tomino shows forever. *Shrugs*

At any rate, I'm excited, especially to be learning this on the same day that Acclimate Solutions tells me "Sorry, our website lied to you about us actually having copies of YKK." Now to teach myself Japanese...

nope. I'm not quite sure even where to begin, other than digging through the links section. Plus I've been moving so kinda tired.
