Essentially they're the same type of anime. A loser guy with secret hidden powers is suddenly the love target for a bunch of hormone crazed teenage witches - with lots of magical shenanigans and ecchi hijinks thrown into the mix. I have to say though that of the two, Magikano was funnier.

Think of Magikano as SnH, only watered down with a lot of echi. Or the other way around: SnH is a distiled Magikano with ten times the laughter and a much better ending.

Similarites: Both have supernatural, magic, ecchi, school and harem genres. Both muchachos (male leads) have no idea that they are the uppermost part of the demon hierarchy. Both muchachos wanted a simple life. Both muchachos are reluctant about thier harem. Both muchachos has one member of his harem who supervises them. Both has one chiquita (female support cast) who is interested to make the muchacho her underling. Dissimilarities: In Magikano the muchacho is merely a vessel for the "Demon Lord" who is locked in a magic mirror, while in IUD, the muchacho is the "Demon King" himself. In IUD, the muchacho was surprise to find out who he is, while in Magikano, the  read more

Similarities: Both animes were in a school setting, with an extra harem genre. Both animes has a girl who came out of nowhere and then sudden, enters the muchachos' (male lead) life and messes with it. Both animes features the muchachos having special ability. Both muchachos simply wanted a simple and quite life. Both animes have one member of the harem who's a yandere. The lead chicas in both animes were also tsundere, and were also feared by their muchachos. Oh, by the way, just recently, both muchachos' voice actors also did the voices to other character from different animes. The voice actor of Magikano did the voice of the lead  read more

Other than being a harem, both anime takes place in a normal city. Normal guy gets dragged by an energetic heroine and someone's out to assassinate him. The protagonist is also expected to be a great man someday. Oh, and the heroine is of royalty. There are plenty of characters with similar personalities, like a tsundere, a sister who does all the cooking, cleaning, etc. Finally, it deals with supernatural phenomenon (one is sci-fi, the other is magic).

Azumanga Daioh is a slice of life comedy about six high school girls, and Magikano is a comedy about witches living in the modern world, but they are both very similar because they use the same kind of slapstick humor with episodes that don't run together individually, but run together as a whole. Both are very funny, with characters that don't take themselves too seriously.

these two anime have very similar story lines, in one a young boy gets an android as his own maid, in the other a young boy gets a witch as his own maid. And if that was not enough they have similar love triangles, or possibly even love squares. both anime are mostly comedy though they do have there tearjerker moments, but for the most part they are extremely funny. though keep in mind that Mahoromatic has very explicit content when compared to magikano. That set aside these two anime are great additions to everyones list!

This Anime list like very perverted in a way, but is exspecially funny on how everything is being done. His sister (Ryōko Ninomiya) and Mayu's brother (Mikihiro Tsukimura) are very funny also. I recommend this anime too all the ones that love too see this kinda anime.

It is basically the same series, just replace ninjas with mages. The difference is that in Kage Kara Mamoru the main hero knows about his talents in opposite of Magikano, in wich the hero awakens to his. Both series aired in the same cour.

IN both anime the male lead is watched over by witches/magical girls in order to prevent some sort of powerful forces from being unleashed while others try to unleash that power or use it for themselves and both have a crazy sister with a brother complex.
