Both series involve detective agencies with people who have extraordinary abilities. There's a certain similarity in tone. In dealing with people who are prejudiced against those with power balanced against the humor of these wildly different personalities working together.

People with special abilities and groups performing missions. Not to mention all around action. Darker than Black is of course edgier and well, darker [no pun intended] but they have the same feel and pacing.

Durarara has the same atmosphere and is also story about a mysterious city. All the characters have some relationship between them. Both are fun to watch!

Super powers. Mystery. Witty. Each anime has these elements in spades. Intensity seems to be the main element though. I couldn't help but notice the similarity after the first two episodes. The darkened theme running through the background plot sets up the mood for future events and the protagonists both have sort of that "in your face" approach. If you've seen one, I definitely recommend the other if only for a comparison of the two.

Similar vibe. Our main cast has a bar hangout just like in K. Gangs who possess supernatural powers. Power struggle with other gangs over territory. Lots of characters who are very close. Action packed and add some comedy from time to time. Talented voice actors can be heard in both series. For example Fukuyama Jun and many more.

The male main protagonists and antagonists think similarly in both of these series. The antagonists supply others with the means to commit crimes. The protagonists deal with cases that are fabricated by the antagonists. Both antagonists have white hair, are highly intelligent, and usually only supply the means to commit crimes rather than handle things themselves.

Both anime follow the adventures of an organization of super-powered individuals taking various jobs, in a setting that's a mix between the urban and the supernatural. Both have large casts of eccentric characters, as well as similar action, humor and overall atmosphere.

Both shows focus on people who were born with or acquired special abilities. Both main protagonists of each show had dark and sad pasts and they're trying to overcome them by stopping those who abuse their special abilities and saving those who posses similar powers also from normals and their fellow people. They also had bad encounters and experiences with scientists who want to experiment their abilities. Anyway, what makes both of these shows different from each other is that in Charlotte their abilities are temporary until they reach a certain part of their life when it is no longer there while on the other hand, the potential  read more

Similarities: Both have the same, action and superpower genre. Both involves people with powers who protects the weak. Dissimilarities: One is a spin off from another anime while the other one has a season 2. The leader and the most powerful one of the good guys is a guy, while in the other anime it's a girl who is the most powerful.

Small detective agency with special abilities. Nice and Hanasaki kinda have the same personality :)

Very similar colorful feeling. Both have good stories that revolve not only around the main characters, but those around them

both has lovable characters who have fun and also do some work and fighting talk a lot about freindship.

- Sudden development of superpowers in the world and it's effects. - Superhero schools. Boku no Hero Academia is actually set in the school, whereas Hamatora is set after the protagonists have graduated from the school. - Emphasise on 'quirks' and 'individuality' in relation to superpowers. - Lots of action. - Bright colours.

Colourful animation and action are both present within these two series. Hamatora is a little bit more dramatic and contains even a little bit of horror, but the two have similar villains - sharp teeth, long hair, and abnormal ability. The two anime also focus on a certain group of people who are young, and definitely weird.

Supernatural showy action-packed fights, and flashes of plain text stills spliced throughout the episode in typical Shaft fashion. Although dealing with overall serious or dramatic themes, there are still funny bits here and there...more so in Bakemonogatari.
report Recommended by Estoy_Gordo
Both are about people having supernatural abilities and doing detective work.

Both contain a mysterious main guy and both have headphones( lol idk I just noticed). Also both of the main guys are strong and smart.

~ Both 'Concrete Revolutio' and 'Hamatora' have humans with amazing abilities as their main plot. ~ Also they share that confusion through society about if those 'super-humans' are good or bad for the world, if they deserve to be called 'heroes' or 'villains'. ~ Another thing they share: they count with a vast 'palette' of colours, which you can especially appreciate in characters and backgrounds.

Both these shows feature a group of people who deal with the possession of some kind of superhuman power (nen ability and minimums). Both have the general theme of equality between two forces (specifically hunter x hunter's chimera ant arc) and both have a diverse cast and the shows are very easily comparable. Both HXH and Hamatora also have characters with powerful relationships, conflicting ideals or undeniable friendships. I highly recommend Hamatora to people who like HXH, both animes are highly underrated. (though hamatora's writing and length is no where near in comparison to HXH< consitering hamatora is 24 episodes)

Both anime envolve around agencies with supernatural humans. They solve a verity of cases while conspiracies and fights with other organisations/gangs are unraveling behind the scenes.

Same principle, where powers needs a special condition to activate

As the anime progresses in its episode count, the full story/picture is slowly unravelled and the audience finally understands what is going on. The two anime give off similar vibes in my point of view, especially since in both casts characters have some kind of manifestation of powers. The characters also develop as the story continues and the past or nature of some characters are revealed to be darker than what they were originally portrayed to be.

Both anime are about a world in which some people have fantastic superpowers while the rest of the world are normal people. The people with powers have a higher status in society due to their ability. And there are mad scientist villains trying to do evil things with stuff related to such abilities.

Both are colorful and have a similar art feel, Both have some pretty smart characters, In both smart characters do not work alone, but they do seek help from others, Both have interesting stories. If you enjoyed one you will probably enjoy the other one too, at least because of the BEAUTIFUL COLORFUL ART.

How has nobody recommended this? Well anyways, both have somewhat similar sounding and looking openings. They both have supernatural elements. Hibiki and Art are both voiced by Hiroshi Kumiya. I found Hamatora more enjoyable in the end, but it still has some similarities, right? .-.
report Recommended by MikuOlliet
They're both detective shows with goofy moments as well as a lot of dark ones. Akechi is fairly similar to Hamatora's protag, Nice; thought other than Nice there's not any character I can think of too alike the characters in Ranpo (Art could arguably be the counter role of Namikoshi). I think the color styles are pretty much the same too if that's something.

Organization with supernatural powers. Gangsters. Protect the city. Mysterious plot.
report Recommended by Jang9
Main characters have special powers with which they help people. They learn how to use them in special 'schools' and usually fight in pairs. Although DGM have quite a lot of humor, it's written much more serious than Hamatora which can make you feel like in a rollercoaster while swinging between serious action and complete change of scenery.
report Recommended by Nanamishi
art and shin are really similar and though the story line isnt exactly the same theyre both very deep and psychological.
report Recommended by anjuulinaaa
Both series have similar atmosphere - there's also a group of young people with special abilities trying to change the world (kinda lol) and a detective, who helps them, has a lot in common with those people, too. The main protagonist seems to be very inteligent as well.
report Recommended by FallingAshes
Same plot of super humans committing crimes. Except they arent born with the powers the get them by using some drug. and I feel the comedy between the cop duo is better than Hamatora.
report Recommended by nidoqueen106
A brown-haired MC who can go super fast fights alongside his allies who have different super powers and abilities. Hamatora has more mystery whereas Cyborg 009 is more adventure-like. Both series, however, have tragic moments and pretty cool fight scenes. If you like super-powered, action anime, give these a shot.
report Recommended by YoungAnimeDoctor
Both are lighthearted action/comedy with modern setting and bishounen (pretty guy) characters who has superpowers. Also both shows has darker plot revealed in the later episodes.
report Recommended by Aidayo
-> Both are very colorful animes -> both have MCs that took part in an experiment when they were children -> both give a similar feeling off Main difference: Hamatora is about an agency that deals with supernatural powers, Kiznaiver revolves around wounds that connect people.
report Recommended by Nao
- Premise of the show is that they both have ESP-like powers in Hamatora they are called 'Minimums' - The main characters look similar to Art and Nice (which are the main characters for Hamatora) Instead of it being a terrorist group, they are a detective agency which take requests by other people. There is an underlying story however it only really begins in the second season. Still, I reccomend watching the 1st season.
report Recommended by YKRK
-both have characters that are gifted with inhuman abilities -both have an agency that protect the city -the chemistry of the main duo is same -the MC of the both shows are special and are rally intelligent -both animes are located in Yokohama

The same plot that involves member of an organization that have special abilities and takes the job of handling bad people with special abilities.
report Recommended by JiangHaoyi1979
Although this two are not very similar in the plot or characters, they both give you a similar vibe and feelings. Characters fight in pairs and have been born with special powers, about which they were/are learning in special school only for such children. Both anime swing between drama and special kind of humor, sometimes leaving the mine plot behind by adding comedy episodes out of blue, and this exactly why I always thought about Soul Eater humor while watching Hamatora.
report Recommended by Nanamishi
a show where the group work to solve mysteries and both have some cool charaters. the difference is in kamisama no memoucho there are no super power, also in hamatora there are more *cool* boys, good sight for female watchers.
report Recommended by yakoo
The similar principle of having a group of people (resembling teenagers, if not actually teens) maintain balance in a town between normal people and the empowered (spirits, in the case of Yozakura Quartet; minimum holders in the case of Hamatora). Hamatora has a slightly darker vibe than Yozakura Quartet, but YQ is funnier, in my honest opinion.

Firstly, the main characters in both Mahouka and Hamatora, Nice and Tatsuya, look really similar to each other. The plots are also surprisingly similar in which they focus on the discrimination b/w people with powers and people who don't. In Hamatora, there is major discrimination b/w "Minimum Holders" (People with magic) and normal people. In Mahouka, it's more science and fantasy-like but there is still discrimination between "Weeds" and "Blooms" (Guess which group has magic)

-Similar supernatural power system -Similar atmosphere created by users working in teams for jobs.

I'm not suggesting them because they have similar story lines or tropes. Rather, both of these anime feature very unique art styles / animation / coloring. From Hamatora's comic-book rainbowy flashes whenever people use abilities, to Black Rock Shooter's colorful paint bleeding dream world.
report Recommended by Chdata
The main character from both series are voiced by the same seiyuu: Ohsaka Ryouta. While in one series he is the demon lord and other a detective. Their undercover name is very similar too. In Hataraku, he is called Sado Maou and in Hamataora, it is Sato Nice. They both love Katsu-don too. Both filled with comedy and action at the same time.
report Recommended by AnimeFan500
Both anime feature a club/group that does paid side/secret/private jobs for people. Hamatora is more of crime and evil. Ookami is more of gangs and romance.
report Recommended by Chdata
The same plot where it involves people with special abilities who are into the crime fighting business, except in the old anime the guys there were sanctioned by the gov't to fight bad people, while in the new anime the guys there work as freelance often hired as P.I's or do personal protection.
report Recommended by RazorRamona200
Coincidentally Staz and Nice are both voiced by Ohsaka Ryota. Both of them act the same way but are awesome/epic at the same time. Staz and Nice are gang leaders and the most powerful person ever. Each has a crew of members who help him when he is in a bind. One series takes place in the Makai (demon) world city while other is just a city. Both series are filled with action and comedy.
report Recommended by AnimeFan500
Both have mc with incredible deducing skills, the stories involve police, detectives, both have a darker vibe to them.
report Recommended by Keikaku2871
One series (which is also a video game) involves a student who must play a death game in order to escape. The other series involves a detective agency who wields super powers in order to solve cases. (Note: Hamatora has been turned into a video game too). The only similarity between both series are solving cases, the character designs, and the animation. Art from Hamatora looks like Kirigiri, and Theo looks exactly like Makoto Naegi.
report Recommended by AnimeFan500
The characters and plot are really similar : "Train" is like "Nice" both began as strong badass character but change and become more cheerful because of their friends, and they both were part of an organization before. "Creed" is like "Moral" both are creepy psychopaths who are obsessed with the main guy and want to become his partner by all means (even doing evil stuff). The plots are similar because they are both about free travelling people who do request for money.

both animes revolve the use of magic and unique abilities while emphasizing that friends are important.

The main character just have a face like Haruto Tokishima and have the same seiyuu. Art Face just similar with L-Elf.

im surprised that no one recommanded this 2! Both focus on a rare special ability in individual. Both have school that 'nurtures' those ability. MC in one has the power of cross out other ablity, while the supporting character (impt) of the other has that ablity. I suggest you watch hamatora if you like the darker side of things. While Alice academy if you like light hearted and fluffy things. Watch hamatora first followed by Alice academy to lighten the mood!

They both involve having powers and using them to fight. C Control has more of a "concrete" story than Hamatora. They both use that crazy art style at one time or another as well.
report Recommended by ZachM
Both are funny stories that deal with the main characters using their abilities in order to make money, and both have other serious subplots.
