Interest Stacks    If there's any person who defined the archetypal 80s anime character art style, Akemi Takada would be a strong contender. Debuting in the industry as a guest character designer for Ippatsu Kanta-kun, Takada would be assigned as the main character designer only a year later for the sequel of Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, a show she was a fan of during her university years. After four years of working for Tatsunoko, Takada went freelance and truly hit her stride with her involvement in the adaptation of Urusei Yatsura, adapting Rumiko Takahashi's art style to an anime format (she was responsible for turning Lum's rainbow-colored hair into the trademark teal it is known today). Takada would later work on another Takahashi adaptation, taking after Yuuji Moriyama stepped down from the character designer role in Episode 28 of Maison Ikkoku.   After watching just about all of the OVAs released in the 1980s, these are the ones I rated 6, meaning I consider them to be decent.   The new anime release format that appeared in the mid-80s brought new opportunities for studios and various works began to be released on videotapes. Some of them were frankly terrible, but some became classics with a recognizable style and aesthetics. I bring to your attention works worth viewing.   The criteria this time is no criteria. This is the final list in my Obscurities series. If there is any criteria, it's that I think you should watch these despite their quality, popularity, or even my rating, because you should see 'em. There's some good, some bad, and some real head-scratchers in here. It's mixed bag time in here!   Mamoru Oshii is a popular creator and has been involved in several anime in both major and minor roles.  Anime I have seen in vaporwave/future funk videos or thumbnails     These are films that may appeal to an otaku with an ENFJ or INFJ-type personality.   An anthology series is a television or film series that presents a different story and or a different set of characters. They make these switches in each episode, season, segment, or short, as determined by the creators.   This Interest Stack is directly inspired by Digibro's "250 Anime Recommendations". Everything listed here is directly taken from the original video.   Mostly includes OVAs and Movies.   Many millennials or younger generations experience "anemoia", or a longing for the pre-internet world when VHS tapes were king, stereos emitted synthpop, and the warm sun caused the rippling seas to glisten. (This stack is written to support members in finding entries which share highly specific or niche interests: that is), 80s-90s anime that boast a retro "aesthetic" prowess — that feature an art style or color palette that evokes "vibes", "atmosphere", "ambiance", or nostalgia. These anime are chockfull of screenshottable frames or GIFs to suit all the lo-fi mixtapes, feely beats, Pinterest feeds, and ethereal longings of a bygone era.   Some times a person have to stop sharing a rare/old anime with very few seeds and ask himself: what about the next person?   Tired of adaptions, reboots, and remakes in your sci-fi anime?
