Another breed of monster show, this along with Pokemon and Monster Rancher was one of the big 3 monster related shows. Filled with crazy creatures and adventures, if you liked this show (or Pokemon) you will very likely enjoy this series.

Both invlove a variety of bizarre creatures that do battle and are based on video games. Monster Rancher's quite a bit darker than Pokemon, but still primarily directed at children.

Both niche monster battling/taming kids anime that tried to ride the tailwind of the success of shows like Pokemon, Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh. In both series their respective monsters speak the same human language as the human character counterparts and communicate with them in this way. Both have similar themes and humour.

Both niche monster battling kids anime that came out on the tail-end of Pokemania alongside a wealth of similar shows such as Yugioh, Beyblade & Digimon to name a few. Taking this into account it's very clear that these shows were created with similar ideas for essentially the same target audience/demographic. Both contain intelligent and communicative creatures that speak to their human counterparts. (These two unlike some others both feature their respective monsters speaking full coherent sentences in the "human" language of whatever language you're watching the show in -think Digimon not Pokemon). They both have very unique and expressive art styles and monster designs. If you  read more

Spinning! A lot of spinning! In Monster Rancher they spin the mystery discs to revive their monsters, in Beyblade Metal Fight it's the beys their monster pals inhabit that do the spinning in order to battle each other! Both also try to market real world games and paraphernalia to their audience.

Having a similar concept but monster rancher is far better executed and has a stronger selection of characters overall. the monsters are much more in depth since they are each given personality's and the ability to talk as well as battle. i also found the main character was more enjoyable than in dragon drive since he was more energized and humerus. It also has a much more gripping journey and better bad guys. It's just a lot more fun to watch but there essentially at the core the same type of show. i think if you like dragon drive your going to love monster rancher since its a  read more

Both extremely similar kids monster battling anime from a similar time when such was the craze after the massive & explosive success of Pokemon. Both have young children as main characters but also just as important are the partner monster characters who are extremely intelligent and able to communicate in way where it appears to the viewer as though they are speaking the same language and so can have much more meaningful dialogue with their monster companions (unlike in Pokemon). Both have a variety of cool/cute monster designs and both shows see these monsters engage in battles on behalf of our heroes against a common enemy.
