Ryo is one of the four anime from Anime Mirai 2013 (Young animator training project).
I'm going ahead and say that this short is probably one of the worst of the Anime Mirai’s shorts, but lest start with the actual review.
The story itself is a little strange and quite difficult to understand, from what I read and from the title the story should focus around a boy, who lost his parents, who is given the name Ryo by Ryoma Sakamoto.
He then follows Sakamoto as his bodyguard during his journey to revolutionize Japan.
As for what I saw the story put Ryo on the side and take Ryoma read more

At first the story may seem dull, but it was pretty interesting considering the way they portrayed the characters. However, this was way too short to be even a movie, which ended up ruining the possibility of a good movie. This caused the enjoyment to drop by a lot. There were no problems with the sound. There is a lot of potential in the idea of the story but the problem was how fast the story progressed. Character development and storyline seemed rushed. Could have been better if they made the movie longer and added more moments to progress the importance of Ryoma Sakamato and read more

Set in the same chaotic time period of Bakumatsu. Both of them have very serious tones, involving bloodshed and only have the mildest of comedies. Ryoma and Kenshin both have loved ones whom they ultimately cannot be together forever due to circumstances. And finally, death is the central theme for between these two.
Historical anime taking place in Edo Japan. Akizuki from Bakumatsu served as Ryoma Sakamoto's bodyguard. Members of the Shinsengumi are here too.
