Both titles were released in 1987. Both titles are action-packed anime filled with violence, blood, gore and plenty of hellish demonic monsters. As well as similar animation and a similar vibe. They both deal with the main protagonist (Akira Fudo/Devilman and Amano Jaku) fighting other demons that are trying to destroy humanity. However, Urotsukidouji contains graphic scenes of rape and sex while Devilman doesn't. If you like one, you should enjoy the other.

Both Devilman OVA's are similiar in story line and presentation. Animation is a little different and Go Nagai's touch is missing from Guyver, but I found myself thinking how similiar they are as I watched the Guyver series.

Both titles are based on 1970's manga from Go Nagai. They both have a similar dark and gritty tone with lots of blood, gore and gratuitous nudity. As well as similar art, animation, and a similar vibe. The main protagonist in both Devilman and Shuten Douji are thrown into a life of darkness and must save humanity from demons. If you like one, you should enjoy the other.

Both series are from Go Nagai which display violent action while fighting against monsters and demons. Devilman guest stars in episode 7 of New Cutey Honey.

Violent, gory, and deeply stylistic OVAs that are illustrated through beautiful animation. Decently potent emotion portrayed in a rather short runtime. A robust soundtrack adds to the experience in a major way.

Incredibly violent late 80's OVAs. The dubs are the best way to watch both, because characters swear every other line and carry tough Brooklyn accents, which really contributes to the overall mood.

These anime are NOT for scaredy cats. These late 1980s OVAs from back then knew how to scare kids and adults alike—WAY more than today's anime series or OVAs. Both are still considered obscure cult classics among older anime fans!

Both anime feature a duo of protagonist as they try to deal with demons that are possessing humans. However, at the same time, one of the main character is also possessed by a demon and must struggle to keep his human side, while battling other demons. Both anime have similar animation, and a similar dark and gritty tone.

Shingeki no Kyojin pretty much takes the plot of Devilman and adds an Ultraman garnish. In either show, we have an invasion of a hostile race that was once dormant, which is fought by using a hybrid of mankind and the evil race in question. Both include generous amounts of gore, horror, and action. If you want a really high-budget anime with a beautiful artstyle, check out SnK. If you want something with a lower budget but with better writing and execution, watch the Devilman OVAs.

both are about devils and fallen angels. highschool dxd however has less gore and more ecchi than devilman.

Both anime have a dark and gritty atmosphere. They follow a main character who is half human and half demon, as he battles other demons that threaten humanity. Both anime contain a lot of action and gore.

Go Nagai created both. Devilman and others characters made a cameo. The concept is similar except Devilman is about demonic possession and Hanappe Bazooka about summoning. It's obviously more comedic than Devilman but this OVA unlike the manga is more inspired by Devilman especially concerning the bullies. who chases Hanappe.

Made in 1987, two years from Angel's Egg, this is must be the birth of anime taking place of adulthood and religion and dark themes in general. It is action packed and has better animation while still retaining the same 1980s feeling that Tenshi no Tamago (Angels Egg) also has. If you go down the rabbit hole, next would be Akira 1988, Devilman 1990, Neon Genesis Evangelion 1995, then Berserk 1997

Both focus on a main protagonist who is merged with a monster, giving him supernatural abilities. The protagonist starts fighting against other monsters which threaten the Earth, but at the same time, must struggle to keep his humanity.

Both of these anime fall under the same demographic and are intended for a similar audience. They feature a main protagonist who fights against supernatural creatures (vampires in JoJo, demons in Devilman). They also contain a lot of gore and violence.

Guyver and Devilman are quite similar in plot and the themes they touch. Both anime feature a main protagonist that gains a special power, which turns them into a killing machine. However, they must fight against powerful monsters, turning into heroes of some sort. Both anime are made around the same period, so they have a similar type of art and animation, plus they are both quite violent.

Hailing from the heyday of the "releasing the monster from within" blood n' guts action anime, both "Devilman: The Birth/Demon Bird" and "Guy: Double Target" (particularly Part 1) are thrilling, visceral and stylish trips through hell. While Guy: Double Target features several hardcore (with a gun?!) sex scenes, but they are not the only focus of the story. The real meat of the program comes from brutal mutating body horror blood moshing right out of the Devilman playbook. Bodies are crushed, erupt into chunks of fleshy mulch while our heroes struggle to maintain their humanity.

Devilman is the father of dark seinen manga, a lot of Berserk's DNA can be traced back here. Its a great story about the darkness within every man, and any Berserk fan owes it to themselves to check out this classic.

Both titles have the protagonist that can transform into a demon monstrous form and uses their power to fight for good instead of evil. The SoulTaker has a design that looks pretty similar to Devilman. They both feature supernatural elements with a dark and gritty atmosphere. Both anime contain a lot of action and blood. If you enjoyed Devilman or looking for another demonic theme superhero, I recommend trying out The SoulTaker. If you enjoy The SoulTaker, feel free to give the Devilman OVAs a try.

Both Devilman: The Birth and Wicked Cityh were released in 1987 with a comparable amount of action, blood, gore, and nudity. They both have shape-shifting demonic monsters that can disguise themselves as human beings in order to destroy humanity. If you like one, you'll probably like the other.

Both titles are action-packed anime filled with violence, blood, gore and plenty of hellish demonic monsters. The main protagonist in both anime have to fight for survival and must give up some of their humanity to fight against powerful evil supernatural forces. However, Devilman takes place in a modern day world while Berserk takes place in a medieval fantasy setting. If you like one, you will enjoy the other.

Both are adaptations of some of the most influential action shounen manga, complete with bloody supernatural battles and the classic "90s anime OVA" look. Both also have kinda goofy English dubs.

Both contain their fair share of demon-possession, violence and gratuitous nudity. No solid plot, but plenty of action and gore.

Lots of blood, demon fighting, and that sweet late 80s-early 90s anime aesthetic.

Both focus on a teenage boy protagonist that gets possessed by a demon (Amon in Devilman and Byoudo in Battle Royal High School) and uses their powers to fight off powerful evil demons. Both titles were released in a similar time period (late 1980's - early 1990's). They are both action-packed anime with lots of blood, gore, and gratuitous nudity. Devilman is more serious and has a horror vibe to it while Battle Royal High School is campier and over the top. If you like one, you should enjoy the other.

Demon Beast Invasion and Devilman: The Birth are OVAs from the same time period (late 1980s-early 1990s) with similar animation and vibe. In both anime, the Earth was formerly occupied by demons millions of years ago, and they have returned to attack humans. Both titles are action-packed anime with loads of blood, gore, and terrifying demonic monsters. However, Demon Beast Invasion has explicit rape and sex scenes, whereas Devilman does not. If you like one, you should like the other as well.

Both are based on 1970's manga from Go Nagai. Devilman is greatly inspired by Demon Lord Dante and Devilman would not exist without it. They both have a similar dark and gritty tone with lots of blood, gore and gratuitous nudity. As well as similar art and a similar vibe. The main protagonist in both titles are thrown into a life of darkness and must protect humanity from demons. If you like one, you should enjoy the other.

A kind-hearted human merges with a devil. From the point of view of other demons, he is fighting against his own kind. But he is neither fully human nor fully devil.
