Synopsis
Taking a down and out restaurant on the verge of closing it's doors, retraining the staff, and rebuilding it into a booming business, this hot blooded gourmet comic tells the story of the legendary chef Toshizo Kitakata. Son of the owner of Mitsubachi, an unpopular restaurant, Shoichi goes hat in hand to plead for Kitakata's help and he is taken to an unexpected place for training...!!

Shoku King has a lot of problems. Despite being a manga started in 1999, it feels like it belongs to the end of the Showa era. It copies a lot of the beats of Oishinbo (1983-2014) without having an overarching story line I care about. In fact, I kind of want to give Kitakata-san a punch in the mouth for free.
