What I found kinda special in this manga is that the three girls are actually pretty pious as priestesses, in contrast with the atheist MC. We don't really see spirituality and religion being treated seriously in media and art anymore. And here we suddenly have three teenage girls in 2021 Japan being all about their Shinto religion. I find it VERY intriguing and really can't wait to see more of this theme.

I mean, there's so much they can do with it. Faith crisis? Existential questions of being? Cruelty of the gods? Fascinating stuff, really. If only the writer will have the courage to touch.

This manga definitely has a strong potential. It is a harem, after all, so you can pretty much guess how a lot of the things are going to unfold. Probably the last to fall for him is going to be the tsundere middle sister.

I didn't realize it when I read the One-Shot, but this manga really resembles 5-toubun no Hanayome. As in, MC is the bookworm type who tries to nail it academically high school, while also not being weak like a nerdy incel; actually having a spine to stand for himself. So yeah, I'm definitely going to stay around for more!

An actual decent enough harem manga with only 3 heroines, great art and something that's made by a former assistant of Haruba Negi, creator of The Quintessential Quintuplets? Seems interesting enough, but is it really worth the read? Quick answer; pretty much, yeah.


Matchmaking of the Amagami Household is a harem manga series made by Naitou Marcey. While this being his first ever independent work, for now, things are looking quite good for it. As I said earlier, Naitou Marcey was a former assistant of Haruba Negi, so you can definitely expect some Gotoubun vibes in this, although the setting for this manga is quite different.

The story follows our protagonist Kamihate Uryuu, an orphan who hits the books regularly with his dream to becoming a medical doctor. However, he now finds himself standing in front of a certain shrine located in Kyoto, where he was told to now free-load out of there. He proceeds to go inside the shrine only to find 3 beautiful girls changing their clothing- yeah you get the idea, pretty generic for a introduction. From there, they get a grasp of the situation they're all in, from Uryuu having to go live with them, to the shrine actually being in a state of bankruptcy, etc. Then we get to see the characters do a bunch of things together like having a sudden marriage meeting or trying their best to save the shrine from being shut down and such. Harem manga plot points at their finest.

The art is one thing I really like from this. From smaller details to character designs, it has this really warm and fluffy feeling to it.
Characters are pretty generic, at first at least. The more you go into it I feel like the more you know more small details and quirks about them and eventually ending up liking at least some of them. There are lots of comedic moments involving them, too. One thing I didn't expect to happen were actual wholesome moments. I literally couldn't hold a smile while reading some of the few chapters, or maybe that's just me being a soft diabetes manga lover.


Overall, I for one really enjoyed reading this, and if you're someone who's looking for a harem manga with a similar vibe to Quintessential Quintuplets or maybe a similar setting to the Temple manga, added with a great art style, cute moments and the like, Matchmaking of the Amagami Household might just be the manga for you.
