A relaxing, slice of life adventure fantasy series that follows the story of the Elf Frieren as she learns more about humans, stemming from her regret for not knowing her fellow adventurers who defeated the demon lord with her.

Many episodes include a short story about a certain character and their story of regret, memories, change etc. many revolve around the concept of time and relationships with people

A good mix of comedy and emotional beats, complemented with an amazing soundtrack by Evan Call (Violet evergarden) and amazing visuals by Madhouse.

With an extremely unique artstyle and flair, it is able to standout from other detective anime through the immersive way it unwraps its mystery into a satisfying conclusion. Heralded as one of the best mystery anime of the year, it is able to construct its mystery with flair, suspense, while easing through the tension with little comedic beats.
"Oshi no Ko"
TV, 2023, 11 eps Me:- Author:8
[Spring 2023]
-Highly recommended
-Personal recommendation (8/10)
This anime might have had the greatest cultural impact of the year, with its opening, Idol, being one of the most successful Anime, no, Japanese songs of all time in the western market and clips washing the internet, merchandise filling stores etc. Unless you live under a rock, you must have heard of this anime.

This anime is able to subvert the idol industry/ genre in a meaningful way, painting the industry as one which runs on money, jealousy and lies, with no concern for those within it. From cyber bullying to intentional facades, nothing is off the table to gain fame or money, even when many people involved are children.

With THE best opening episode of the year being an hour+, this anime is an exemplary work of drama writing and character writing.
Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu
TV, 2023, 12 eps Me:- Author:7
[Spring 2023]
-Recommended
-Personal recommendation (7.5/10)

With an extremely questionable synopsis and opening episodes, the anime surprisingly leads into an extremely wholesome and understanding relationship between the two leads.
They look out for each other and make amends wherever they step wrong.
This might not be the most realistic romance anime of the year, but it sure is the most wholesome and cute.

ALL romcom fans need to watch this
Tengoku Daimakyou
TV, 2023, 13 eps Me:- Author:-
[Spring 2023]
-Highly recommended

With one of the most unique worlds built this year, the story takes many twists and turns through characters’ past, present and future, bringing together seemingly unconnected events into an overarching story.

If you want to experience truly thrilling writing that would take you on a roller coaster, THIS. IS. IT.
TV, 2023, 12 eps Me:- Author:8
[Spring 2023]
-Highly recommended
-Personal recommendation (8/10)

On the surface, it seems inconspicuous and bland.
However, this is perhaps the best school anime of the year, bringing together the high school experience with abnormal, but familiar, situations between the various characters. Being strangers at first, they build amazing relationships with each other built on trust and understanding. The realistic nature of this anime is definitely one of its shining points, and could allow one to reminisce, or look forward to, those glorious high school days.
Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia
TV, 2023, 13 eps Me:- Author:7
[Spring 2023]
-Recommended
-Personal recommendation (7/ 10)
The most realistic romance anime of the year, two people bound by the same condition, but different circumstances are brought together for a relaxing, yet appropriately emotional and powerful relationship.

I recommend the manga after the anime, the anime just serves as the first half of their budding romance.
Tensei Oujo to Tensai Reijou no Mahou Kakumei
TV, 2023, 12 eps Me:- Author:7
[Winter 2023]

-Personal recommendation [7.5/10]
LGBTQ+ themes

This is perhaps the best Yuri anime since Bloom into you, it incorporates politics, worldbuilding and the like into an amazing fantasy world, also one of the best this year, tied together with a likeable main duo with great chemistry. Surprisingly emotional and deep, you will not disappointed at the end of its short run.

In 12 episodes, it’s able to build a world few anime are capable of.
Vinland Saga Season 2
TV, 2023, 24 eps Me:- Author:8
[Winter 2023]
-Highly recommended

Widely hearlded as the best sequel of 2023, it turns Vinland saga from a violent gorefest (that is written very well), into a reflective, philosophical meandering of loss and the meaning behind fighting.

While slow, this incorporates depth and dimension to the tale, establishing the characters as human, not killing machines, with its powerful reflection being a look into the human condition.

One of the closest anime got to classical literature in the entire year.

If you liked Spy x Family, Hinamatsuri and the like, you’d likely like this hilarious and wholesome childcare anime, with many cute and wholesome moments that would instantly make your day better.
It’s like the afternoon tea of anime :)
Trigun Stampede

A modern reimagining of a cult classic, Trigun stampede is able to incorporate the flair of Trigun through modern digital processing. Despite being a different look, it is still able to replicate the feel and finesse of the original Trigun. Worth a watch for any old anime fans who want to re experience Trigun with a different look
