Slick animation, fun characters, and the masterfully wild writing that is characteristic of Nisioisn. This is personally my favorite of his works, though I know it definitely isn't his best. The OP is an absolute bop, though. I listen to it constantly.

As much as this show suffers from some of the typical Trigger-isms, it's still a really fun ride. Those who like trigger should definetly give this a watch. The two main characters are very likable and have a fun dynamic. The plot gets a little lost in itself, but hey at least Trigger's message is anti-racist. For the 8th time. But if you're going to repeat one message forever, that's a good one to repeat.

Yeah, this show is riding the coattails of Spy x Family a little bit. But it's also doing its own thing, and it's doing a great job of it at that! It's fun, it's stylish, and the character development of the two fathers is palpable throughout the show. It's just really sweet and wholesome.

The romance in this movie is really sweet and the artstyle really makes it pop. The best scene in the movie doesn't come until the very end, but I think the payoff is worth it. That ending scene left a big impact on me, and it's really heartwarming.

This movie is going to be difficult for a lot of people to watch. It's slow and methodical. There isn't much of a plot. Mostly the movie is dedicated to watching people go about their daily lives. Realizing that the first impression is never all there is to a person. Seeing more and more of what makes these people human. A film that made me cry with a simple scene of a family eating dinner. A film with a lovely message at its core. "It's good, to have a tomorrow." Life is worth living. This film conveys it beautifully.

A fun, original sci-fi adventure that never manages to become something amazing, but gets right up to greatness. I liked this show a lot. The animation is very pretty, the character designs are... interesting, and the story went in a few unexpected directions.

Fantastic directing, wonderful voice acting, impactful music choices. This movie was my first real experience with BL in anime and it launched my interest in the genre. It's such a sweet movie that it will make your chest feel warm after you finish.

The OP is absolutely amazing! The directing and character designs are unique and fun. The emotions that this show associates with art are powerful and wonderfully conveyed. And the voice actors are having a blast. The animation is also particularly impressive, especially during the fictional anime scenes.

The peak of "dumb fun". The animation is mostly solid, the OP and ED are bangers, the characters aren't deep but they are FUN, and the powers and episode stories are so ridiculous that you can't help but have a blast watching it. I didn't expect to have so much fun with this, but it really was a blast!

How this show isn't more popular on here, I have no idea. It's an absolute blast, but also gets you invested in its characters very well. As someone who only recently got into (male) idol anime, this one is a must-watch for anyone interested. It does a great job of going after the industry, as well. Tamaki best boy.

A wonderful movie about dealing with grief. It made me cry over an egg sandwich. It gets a little ridiculous near the end, but that doesn't erase all the emotional impact I felt during the rest of the film.

The animation is kinda middling and the technical aspects are overall just average, but the story is so wholesome!! The characters are infectiously likable and their dynamics are very well fleshed out. If you like soft Yakuza men in anime this is a great pick.

It's dumb as hell, but also goddamn hilarious. A whole bunch of A-List voice actors come together to make dumbass dick jokes and scream about vampires and it's one of the funniest experiences I've ever had. It takes a few episodes to get going but once it does it's really fun.

I cannot believe that Drifting Home is on Netflix and this isn't. The same director's far superior previous work, just watch this one instead. Or if you liked Drifting Home watch this one. Or if you just like fun, wacky, zany movies with gorgeous animation watch this. I enjoyed it a lot.

No one believes me but I genuinely think this show is a masterpiece. Please watch it. Rikka and Akane are two of my favorite characters ever. The themes are clear and impactful. The music and animation are both wonderful. I'm a huge fan of this series.

Another one for the dumb fun category. This show isn't deep or anything, but it's such a fucking blast. I've laughed my ass off at almost every episode. Plus the sheer homoerotic subtext between the male leads is an additional layer of hilarious and fun. This is the gayest non-gay anime I've ever watched. The animation looks a little weird sometimes, but the art style is cool and sometimes the animation really works. It's fun!

Beautiful animation, a wonderfully intriguing premise, and mostly strong execution. The visual presentation is really strong as well. The constant inverting of the frame based on whose perspective we're following is really cool. This movie is interesting and engaging throughout, and even delivers a few really compelling twists! I enjoyed it a lot! The music is also wonderful.

This show is really goddamn weird, but it's also really fun. It's interesting, the characters are likable, and the animation is gorgeous. Miyano Mamoru elevates every single show he's in. I love the directing of this show, and I love showing it to people to see how freaked out they get.

Two boys fall in love, but a TV show. The characters are so sweet and wholesome that you can't help but get invested just about as soon as you meet them. The animation isn't really anything special, but it does what it needs to do.

Fantasy comedy anime that consistently makes me laugh my ass off. I rewatch this whenever I'm feeling down. The animation is fun. The voice actors are having a blast. The story is surprisingly good. The only problem is that they didn't make more of it. You can watch the whole show, both seasons, in under two hours!

A really interesting mystery sci-fi show, and a shockingly emotional experience. Really solid animation, an absolute banger of an OP, and a whole bunch of twists that I never saw coming. This is actually the only Chinese animation I've watched, but it really made me wanna watch more.

This one is so wholesome. Just constant serotonin. I adore the characters, and their relationships are extremely well developed and very fleshed out. Even the side characters are, for the most part, very likable and interesting. The animation is adorable, and the OP is infectiously sweet. I'm rooting for them to get together, but I also kinda like the platonic soulmates thing that's going on here. They're just so sweet! Bonus points for a very realistic, down-to-earth portrayal of a trans woman. I adore this show.

Trippy show about the horrors and mysteries of growing up. It's cool. The stories are out there and strange, but effective. The characters are nebulous and confusing, but all of it works hard to achieve the atmosphere that the show is going for. It's strong. It's confusing. It's a lot of things. If you like trippy meditations on the nature of existence you'll love this.

This movie is short, sweet, and packs a shockingly emotional punch. I can't even explain why it made me cry, but it did. For something that doesn't even hit an hour, it's shockingly well-paced and says everything it wants to say. Absolutely worth a watch.

Shinkai Makoto's newest movie. I assume that this one will blow up rather soon, but until it does I'm gonna keep it on this list. While it's not as good as Tenki no Ko (my favorte anime movie ever) or Kimi no Na Wa (another fantastic film), this film is absolutely worth watching. The animation is, as always, wonderful. The characters are compelling and the drama is interesting. I think I need to watch it again to fully form my thoughts on it, but I still highly recommend it.

This show has just absolutely blown me away. Everything about it is compelling. Wonderfully interesting characters, an absolutely fascinating storyline, drop-dead-gorgeous animation, splendid music. I did not expect to fall this in love with this show. The characters especially are so lovable. I look forward to Kiruko and Maru's chemistry every week. Bonus points for TWO trans boy protagonists????

Shockingly good for a sports anime. Also it's Kyoani. You know the animation is gonna be god-tier. The characters are sweet and likable. The sport is gorgeous to watch. The drama doesn't take over the plot to the point of annoyance. It's sweet.

This show is really fun!!! The mysteries are actually pretty compelling, and use the monster status of most of the characters very well. The main characters have a very entertaining dynamic, as well. And where else will you find a show where Arsene Lupin (voiced by Miyano Mamoru, of course) is dating the Phantom of the Opera????

They hired Mamoru Miyano solely to laugh at dick jokes. This show is goddamn hilarious. Laugh-out-loud funny. Honestly one of the funniest anime I've seen in a while. The entire cast is full of A-Listers who are giving their all to the dumbest content ever and it's pure gold. It also tends to lean to the painfully relatable side of humor. It's awesome.

I have some complicated feelings about this one, but I really do think it's worth watching. The characters have a very compelling dynamic and the world is very interesting to explore. It's an extremely LGBT+ story from beginning to end, even without any true romance present. The animation is also very good.

A very cute, wholesome show about a wholesome family. While it never becomes great, it also has some fun experimental animation going on. I enjoyed this show a lot. Good if you're missing Spy x Family or just want something cute.
